I’ve really loved all of Josie Silver’s books so far, but this is my favourite. It’s lovely. I love the Italian/New York setting, I love the characters. I want to be part of the Belotti family.

Filled with secrets, insecurity, flashes from the past, fantastic chemistry between Iris and Gio, and just so readable. I devoured this.

A really feel good romance, filled with intrigue and mystery as well. Couldn’t ask for more.

I loved this book. A romance with a hidden mystery around the main characters. It has wonderful descriptions of New York and the characters are believable and interesting. This would make a wonderful summer holiday read.

Josie Silver has a knack of writing great stories that pick you up at the first word and give you a rollercoaster ride of emotions right through to the last word. I always eagerly await a new book from Josie Silver, after loving all of her previous books and characters, and this one is no exception. Having visited New York a few years ago, and had the most delicious Vodka pizza with sweet potato fries in Little Italy a few years ago, this book took me right back to that holiday - apart from regretting that I did not have any gelato there………☹️
This book follows Iris, a Londoner now living in New York after fleeing an abusive relationship and a bereavement. As she settles into her new life, she becomes entangled in the Belotti family’s life - local gelato shop owners - as they struggle with family illness and the loss of their secret gelato recipe. Iris is determined to help them rediscover the recipe, but she is hiding a secret, one that could destroy her budding relationship with Gio Belotti before it’s even begun…….. fabulous ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Read and reviewed in exchange for a free copy from NetGalley. I was really excited to read a new novel by Josie Silver, and this did not disappoint. A Winter In New York was a lovely, engaging read with an excellent cast of characters. Silver dealt with difficult themes well, and her writing made me miss New York a lot.

Iris is in the magnificent city of New York. After leaving behind her life in England she finds herself in a showdown in a bookshop with a stranger over a particular book. Harsh words are spoken and she leaves the store minus the book.

Fast forward a few months and Iris is with her boss/landlord/friend Bobby when she sees a familiar door. A beautiful ornate door that she recognises from an old photograph. The door belongs to a family run gelateria and when she visits she meets Gio, who she feels she’s met before. They talk and it turns out his father who runs the business is ill and can’t remember the recipe for their famous vanilla gelato. Being the only one at that point who knows the recipe, chef Iris offers to help figure out the recipe. But as time goes on and the pair get to know each other, secrets come to light that Iris can’t share as it will risk so much, not just for Gio but the whole Belotti family.

This book had me from the start. I love Iris, I love Gio and his whole family, they sound like such a force. The book was full of emotion and difficulties to be overcome with some brilliant characters and the odd twist too. I’m only wishing I knew the famous gelato recipe. As with every book I’ve read by this author it was a pleasure to read, so easy to get into and so hard to put down.

Will be a great read for Christmas and with it being released in October it’ll be the perfect festive read.

This was amazing. I couldn’t put it down, except when I had to because I was genuinely nervous and worried about Adam arriving or when I could see the impending car crash situation of all the lies Iris had become inextricably tangled up in. It certainly had me on tenterhooks. I LOVED the characters, from Bobby and Robin to the whole of the berlotti family, particularly Sophia, well all of them actually.
The grief iris was experiencing with regard to her mum was beautiful to read about and had me in tears on a few occasions. I thought Iris was an incredible character. So brave, so strong and she’d been through so much and was turning her life around. The history of her mum and the band was fascinating and it was just all AMAZING. I don’t have enough adjectives to keep saying it but safe to say I’m sad I’ve finished the book and will be eagerly awaiting her next release with baited breath.

A fantastic read set in New York. Iris has no one . Brought up by a single mum who died of cancer. She flies to New York and finds a job and a flat . Her boss Bobby and Robin are her strength . She left an abuse relationship in England. With her mums scrap book she falls in love, helps an Italian family and the ending and twists are amazing. Just grips you and you want ice cream at times. Just read it. Brilliant

Josie Silver has done it again, what a wonderful story this is. I was captivated all the way through this book and that ending had me staying in bed way too late, in floods of tears, it was so gripping. Beautifully written, this story of love, redemption and finding your family had everything I could have wanted. I loved it!

There are some really great characters who just brought this story to life. I loved Iris, she is just so lovely but so scared of life. It's never been easy for her and now, finding herself in New York, knowing no one, she has to be brave, but it's not easy. Gio is great as is the whole Bertolli family and her landlord and his husband. I felt like I got to really know them all; I wanted to be part of their story too.

I cannot recommend this story highly enough. It will draw you in and keep you reading right till the very end...but have a few tissues around!

I would give this one 6 stars if I could! What a perfect story, managed to read it over 2 days. I always love stories set in New York. The main characters were fantastic and who wouldn’t want to part of the amazing Italian family.

Could not put it down! Was sucked in from page one! I loved the story and the characters and the family! I want to be a belotti! Fantastically written and wonderful ending. Really didn’t think it was going to be that way at many points.

This may be set in an ice cream parlour during winter yet it oozes with warmth. Featuring too strong main characters in Iris and Gio who both have a lot of baggage from their pasts, added to that Iris is keeping many secrets from Gio which are a massive hurdle to her engaging in a relationship with him. This is a fabulous character read with a great surrounding cast too and is such a positive and uplifting read overall which I sped through in next to no time. 9/10

An utterly delightful, real, adult story about love, family, pain, loss, redemption and happy endings. The setting is New York and I loved all the cultural references - music, film and fashion. This book is beautifully written and although I don’t normally like first person, it worked very well here.

This author is new to me but I’ll be searching out more of her books.
