Oh my goodness, this was so cute!
It's like finding Cinderella's glass slipper to be your perfect size. It's like discovering the Beast gifted you his library. It's like finding Rapunzel's tower is no longer a prison, but a peaceful hideaway. It's like hearing the first strains of a waltz, and no longer fearing your two left feet. It's like bits and pieces of all your favorite fairytale stories, cobbled together by a magical shoemaker, sewn with threads of love, and fashioned into a story that could live in our own here and now.
Sadie was a gem 💎 and her adventure into the castle 🏰 and the heart of an unexpected "prince" was so the stuff dreams are made of. Grant it, we'd have loved the happily-ever-after without the drama, but that's not reality, and those ups and downs make for a better story, and a stronger bond in the end. I felt so much for her, and how she was struggling, yet she kept such a shiny outlook, and never gave up. She was so kind hearted, and, quite honestly, took a much higher road than I might have been able to. Witt was a ball of awkwardness, wrapped in a shiny cover that was just too endearing. Grant it, he could be mutton-headed and the lack of communication, and copious amounts of secret keeping, didn't aid in the HEA being realized any sooner, but it did make us realize just how much he's been through, and that he deserved to find his yellow brick road as much as any other.
A lovely Contemporary Romance filled with just the right amount of magic, mystery, and love to carry us through the hard times to the skies of blue... much like a certain dress 👗 someone wore to a particularly fancy party. Ever After Street would definitely be a place of love to fall into, and I hope that there might be more tales to tell for the other resident characters in books to come!
This book was so adorable! I loved it so much. It was a cute Cinderella retelling with a great group of characters and the setting was perfect. Definitely recommended!
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
Thanks to netgalley for the chance to read this book.
Another great book from Jaimie.
The first book in this series is a great start. Sadie is a seamstress on Ever After Street who dreams of meeting a handsome stranger but ends up crossing paths with Witt.
The castle in Ever After Street is being sold, the village arrange a magical ball to try and save the castle. The castle is turned into a magical place and Sadie attends despite her aunt forbidding her. It’s the start of her own Cinderella story but will she get her happy ever after.
This was a beautiful light re-telling of the classic story, Cinderella. Jaimie created such a fairy-tale for our leading lady Sadie. The magical was magical and the characters were charming. Jaimie can do no wrong and she has proven that with this book.
A Midnight Kiss on Ever After Street, by Jaimie Admans, is a delightful, magical, Cinderella-esque retelling with a twist. It’s a clean romance with deeper, meaningful themes. It is touching, hopeful and heart-warming.
Sadie has always believed in the power of love and happily-ever-afters, as proven through her parent’s marriage. Her town is fairytale-themed and the looming castle with it’s haunted past, is the epicenter of the town that grew up around it. The town has upended the castle’s mysterious, tragic history by creating a thematic village that offers hopes, dreams and the belief that fairytales do come true.
The story begins when the castle is threatened to be replaced by a big store supermarket, and the residents protest. The broker of the castle throws a masquerade ball in a meager attempt to get the townspeople onboard with the new plan of demolishing the castle. When Sadie sneaks away to see the castle she’s grown up hearing about, she runs into a masked stranger, shares a kiss, and the two forge a magical connection unlike anything she’s ever experienced. Sadie feels seen and understood, even though she’s wearing a mask. Due to her tyrannical aunt’s impending arrival, Sadie rushes off, secretly knowing that the charming stranger is attracted only to this polished, unrealistic version of herself. When he shows up at her door the next day seeking his mysterious Cinderella, he doesn’t recognize Sadie. She’s hurt and her fears are proven true. She uses the opportunity to save her shop by helping him find his lost love.
Though this plot is fairly predictable, the writing of this tale is lyrical, the setting is picture perfect, and the messages are noteworthy. The characters in this modern day fairytale are absolutely lovely, including the ornery aunt who simply needs to learn lesson or two and have her focus shifted. If you are looking for a story that will lift your spirits and make you smile, A Midnight Kiss is for you!
I love Jamie Admans books, and I have read a lot of them. Her books are all fantastic, and this one was also fantastic. I loved it so much.
The story is about a woman called Sadie who works in the Cinderella Shop on Ever After Street. Ever After Street has a lot of magical shops which cater to the local community. It is an amazing place. However, a big company is out to buy the castle there, and Sadie and her friends are devastated about it. She goes to a masquerade ball at the castle, and she finds there more than she had bargained for. Surprises await her, and she is soon close with a man called Witt. With the theme of Cinderella taking over, we are taken on a little magical journey, which is heartwarming. This is a great book, which I highly recommend!
Many thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publishing house and the author for the opportunity to read a complimemtary copy of this book in return for a review based upon my honest opinion.
This author writes the sweetest love stories with the lovliest covers. This one was based on the Cinderella story with a twist. The characters are vibrant and funny, the storyline made me laugh and cheer. What an enjoyable ride as we follow Sadie in her Cinderella-like story, which is fitting as she makes dresses in the Cinderella Shop. Sadie believes in magic and true love but never thought that it would happen to her until she secretly goes to the ball at the Ever After Castle and falls in love at first meeting, but Sadie has to run off at midnight because of her evil Aunt, and of course, loses a shoe which her "prince charming" finds. But the reunion that she envisions does not go according to her fantasies and leads to a hilarious romp around town as he tries to find the owner of the shoe.
Jaimie Admans' books always leave me with a smile and I look forward to the next one.
A modern day cinderella story, everything about this book was just enchanting and magical.
From the first few pages Jaimie Admans had me under her spell, with the most picture perfect of settings and the whole feel of the book was simply superb.
We have a Cinderella dress shop, a search from Prince Charming for his Cinderella, an aunt who is in a constant battle with her niece over the direction and ownership of the shop, a "prince" who doesn't fit the conventional feel for a storybook prince and whole lot more besides.
And Ever After Srett, I just want to hop on a train and come and visit, the amount of imagination that went into creating all the shops on the street, it was just all so perfect.
I devoured this book, it was an absolute delight to read. I couldn't get enough of it and read it in a few short hours, while on holiday.
Once again this author has had me under her spell and completely enthralled and entertained. Utterly brilliant.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
Another charming story by Jaimie Admans who is the queen of writing pure feel good fairytales with a modern twist! One of Jaimie's books is never enough and now my wish has come true with this first ever series of books.
Jaimie Admans has accustomed us to her brilliant writing and modern fairy tails, but A Midnight Kiss On Ever After Street is even more enchanted and delightful than her previous works.
This is the story of a modern Cinderella, Sadie, but don’t worry it’s not that severe and upsetting.
Sadie works at her late mother shop on Ever After Street, with her aunt who doesn’t take into consideration her proposals to avoid bankruptcy, and she treats her only as a seamstress, ordering her dresses after dresses. She has lost the joy her work used to give her and all the sparks in her life, until she meets a Charming Prince at a masquerade ball at the Castle.
Sadie was a sad, pitiful character at the beginning of this novel, but with some encouragements from her cousin and especially from her Prince, Witt, she finally decides to make the changes that will truly help her make her life better.
I liked how her growth was organic, her journey towards happiness was wonsome and enjoyable.
The relationship between Sadie and Witt wasn't easy thanks to some miscommunications and secrets, but destiny and some luck will make everything right.
I recommend this novel. Ever After Street and its Castle are the perfect setting for this nice story.
a real life fairytale! this is a book to escape from normal everyday life to love the dream and fall in love with the characters.
beautifully wrote to draw comparisons with old fairy tales, ever after street is a place we would all love to live. i really hope the author continues this with stories about the other residents in ever after street and their stories
I would firstly just like to say a big thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources who very kindly forwarded me an arc copy of this book, for my kindle, in return for my honest review.
A Midnight Kiss On Ever After Street was a gorgeous, magical story and I loved getting immersed in all it’s goodness. It was definitely a good way to disappear to another place for a little while and forget all about real life!
As it was based on a fairytale there were quite a few Disney references and I was all there for it and I loved it!!
The characters were all very well rounded and likeable and I really enjoyed getting to know them all. Sadie and Witt were perfect for each other and I loved them.
All-in-all this was such a heartwarming, cosy, sweet and romantic read and also had that magical twist to it too! Perfect…….
What a delightful twist on the classic Cinderella tale!
After losing her parents, Sadie finds herself under the care of her aunt, who takes charge of her parents' dress shop located on Ever After Street. The street, nestled in the shadow of an abandoned castle, boasts shops with fairy tale themes. However, the magic seems to be fading as the dress shop faces financial struggles, and Sadie's aunt resorts to exorbitant prices and influencer pursuits. All Sadie yearns for is to follow in her mother's footsteps and create beautiful dresses, while her cousin dreams of becoming a hairstylist. To add to their woes, the castle is unexpectedly put up for sale, and the shop owners fear that a supermarket might ruin the area's charm and the surrounding forest.
Despite the allure of an invitation to a masquerade ball, Sadie and her companions decide to boycott it. Still, she cannot resist the temptation to explore the castle her parents once met in, given her romanticized view of it. With her cousin's assistance, Sadie sneaks into the ball and meets a charming man who introduces himself as the estate agent handling the castle sale. Their evening is enchanting, but she rushes off before being caught by her aunt, leaving behind a lost shoe in the process.
The next day, the estate agent, Witt, arrives at the dress shop with the shoe, hoping to find its owner. Sadie realizes that Witt is looking for her, but instead of revealing herself, she plays along with her cousin's idea to locate the missing "Cinderella," turning it into a brilliant marketing tactic for the shop. Despite her growing fondness for Witt, she remains hurt by his failure to recognize her. As the search unfolds, their bond deepens, yet Witt harbors secrets of his own.
I thoroughly enjoyed this heartwarming book and loved its ending. For Jaimie Admans fans, this is an absolute must-read. A big thank you to NetGalley and Boldwood Books for providing me with an eARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is one of my favorite reads of the year!! Magical with a fairytale setting!! This is a modern-day version of Cinderella, and I loved the relationship between Witt and Sadie. Each of the characters were engaging and drew me in from the beginning. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. I think I just found my new favorite author, and I cannot wait for her next release.
I have enjoyed Jaimie Adman’s previous books and was very much looking forward to this one. However, it just didn’t do it for me. Too Disney-esque for me (and that’s saying something as I love Disney!) It just felt a little too far-fetched to be believable in any way, even with the poetic licence granted for this genre it was just grasping a bit too far away from any sort of reality for me.
I can imagine this giving readers some escape from the real world, but I think I prefer my books with some sense of reality in them. And, I can’t believe that in 2023 we are still having books where a female character needs a man in order to finally do what friends and family have been supporting her to do for years. A man appears in her life and all of a sudden ‘poof’ she magically does what everyone else has been trying to get her to do for years. Aaargh! I realise that this is a romance genre and as such the meet-cute happens and everything falls into place. However, I prefer my lead characters to be stronger & more independent.
I’m sure many readers will love this story, the romance and the feel of this Cinderella story, but sadly it just wasn’t my kind of thing.
I have DNFed this book at the 25% mark. Now, let me tell you the things I really enjoyed here; it’s a Cinderella modern retelling, there is no mean stepsisters, there is wonderful cousin love and support, it’s not a stepmom but an Aunt who is taking over her sisters dress shop. She is going to this ball at this castle that I believe they are selling and tearing down. It has the whole, masquerade ball trope, and a mysterious introvert male, she feels seen by him and he feels the same way. Now here is why I DNF, since the beginning of the book, on of the FMC cousin is telling her to stand up to and take back what is rightfully hers, and to let her aunt know that she will bankrupt them and ruin their image if she continues down the path, & she says that she can’t she does not have the courage, BUT the guy made her feel some kind of way, then she stands up to her! Because of a guy she just met, not because of the positive words from her cousin who loves her and has been with her for all this time, and who really knows her and what she is capable of. Nope, the guy in the mask gave her the courage she needed. 🫠

This is a fun and simple plot. With cute elements of Disney and fairytales.
However at the time of reading this I was looking for something with a more in-depth plot hence my personal rating.
A fairytale story based on a cinderella magical feeling. Lovely feel good novel that is so good. A good old romance and well worth 5 stars.
Thanks to Netgalley and publisher for this ARC
This whole book is a charming and such a warm read, this is exactly the story full of joy, whimsy, just a magical tale that I needed. It’s not just a piece of escapism, it’s a modern fairytale for the adult who still believes, who still has magic in their hearts. I really didn’t want to close the pages on this book. It really was pure joy to read.
Ever After Street is such a magical setting, each businesses has a special theme, the forest, the empty castle, it really is like the perfect fantasy village. Jaimie’s characters are so lovely, likeable and relatable. I loved Sadie and Witt, but beyond that most of Sadie’s extended family are wonderful and I really hope we get some future books that feature more of them. To be fair I’m just hoping this book is going to be a series, as there are so many possible wonderful stories.
Jaimie Admans is such a talented writer, her stories are full of such humour , warmth and romance and this is no exception, I can’t recommend this enough to you. This has me hooked, it’s so enthralling, so uplifting and magical. I really am eagerly awaiting Jaimie’s next book and hoping it’s another on or around Ever After Street.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
