This is such a steamy and intense story, the electrifying chemistry between the characters is off the charts.
I love Easton and Drake's relationship, their attraction from the first pages, and I love the way the author narrates the evolution of the relationship and how they slowly develop feelings for each other, the hilarious banter and the connection of the characters.
If you are a fan of insta love /second chance /forbidden romance /work place you will definitely love this one
Mr. Hook-up by Marni Mann is the first book of the Hooked series. I loved how this book started in the past and we learned all about Easton and his two best friends who started the dating app Hooked. I love how we met "Love" during that time and the connection her and Easton shared. When "Love" disappeared from Easton's life, he was distraught. Jump ahead 5 years and the dating app Hooked is thriving. Easton and his best friends and business partners are in need of a new hire. Enter Drake. Eatson and Drake had an immediate connection. Drake figured out quickly who Easton was, her Mr. Boston from 5 years ago. She reconnected with him as "Love" and his world was blown apart. He always wanted her and now she was here and he wanted Drake. I love Easton! For someone not wanting relationships or catching feelings, he knew how to care and treat a lady. This story was full of ups and downs but I loved it! I also think the author did a great job of setting up all the characters so we can see where this series is going. I can't wait to continue this series as I love all the characters!
This book was so much fun. I devoured it in a few hours and I had a great time!!
The story follows Saaras Love and Mr. BostonLifer, two user of a dating app, that instantly hit it off. But they are a prime example for right person-wrong time. Love moves always and breaks contact. But both are unable to fully move on from each other.
Six years later.
Drake starts a new job at the dating app she once found a perfect match on. And she’s instantly smitten by the charming CEO Easton Jones ….
I don’t think I need to explain what going on, right? Those two cross paths a second time and their connection is instantly back again.
They quickly figure out their shared past and this time both are not willing to lose the other again.
This book is feel good fluff and spice at its best. The plot is not the most exciting. It is very fast paced and some aspects feel a bit rushed, but I had a great time. You are a front seat passenger on the journey of Drake and Easton finding their perfect match again and falling in love. It’s fluff and a bit cheesy - but the kind, that makes you have a big smile on your face without even realizing. You feel with those two for the new chance they got to finally be together. The writing is captivating and their banter is so good.
Mr. Hook-Up is a very well written office romance with elements of second change and insta love. Big recommendation if you want an easy read and good-vibes book. Maybe don’t drop your entire tbr for it the second it releases. But definitely keep it in your mind as a palate cleansers, distraction when life’s too busy or chaotic or you just want to enjoy a book. This gives you a perfect escape from everything for a few hours.
I can definitely see myself rereading it, when hitting a reading slump!!
(As a German, i feel obligated to mention the extremely stereotypical and therefore maaaaybe not most accurate representation of German food culture. Gave me a few good laughs. )
4.5🌟
Not my particular cup of tea. Easton seemed the like a frat bro the whole time and didn’t ever make me care. Drake was sort of flat for me as well. The ploy of disappearing love interest reappearing later and confusion on identifies just didn’t do it for me in this book. Honestly, it was meh for me.
“Mr. Hook-Up” is a fun, steamy and emotional office/second chance romance that pulled me in with the way Easton and Drake met and how they find each other again years later.
While in college, Easton and his friends started an app called Hooked. An app designed for a one night stand without any of the risk and has all the benefits. Easton is matched with someone who he shares 100% compatibility with. However, being a busy college student, him and his match never seem to hook up other than one time at a masquerade party. Fast forward five years later, the app is thriving. When the team hires Drake Madden, there is something familiar about her. As the two work together and spend time together, the past comes back in a way he never expected.
I loved how this was set up into two parts. The first part was like a novella so we could see how Drake and Easton met and the chemistry that was there from right from the start, even through the app. It was great how they found each other again and despite the years, the chemistry was still there. The banter and tension was delicious and so much fun to read. The steamy scenes were sizzling hot. But they were also so in tune with each other and Easton is swoony and romantic. Drake is a woman in a man’s world of IT and coding and she rocks it. Neither beats around the bush and are quick to admit feelings and try to make it work. This was a fun read and I can’t wait to read more by Marni Mann.
I'm torn on whether this book is truly finished or not. It's divided into two parts, with the first part feeling rather dull, making me contemplate giving up. However, I pushed through to the second part, which proved to be much more engaging.
The pacing was too rapid, and the instant connection between the characters in Part 1 didn't feel believable. Part 2 was better in terms of their connection, but the excessive sex scenes overshadowed character development. While I liked the premise and plot, I'm not inclined to continue with the series.
The story revolves around three friends who create a dating app. Easton, one of them, connects deeply with Love, also known as Drake, through the app. Yet, Love abruptly cuts ties by logging out and changing her number. Five years later, they reunite when she joins their company.
It's a classic, predictable storyline, neither bad nor outstanding. I've read other works by this author and appreciated her writing style, but this book left me indifferent, hence my rating.
I did not finish this one, it was not for me, I couldn't relate to the characters, and just did not care for the story.
This is the first book by this author for me so I was excited to receive an ARC. Unfortunately, I really struggled with this book. The first part of this story was from Easton’s POV. Typically I love this kind of story telling, however, even though he found his 100% hook up match with SaarasLove, they spent most of the time texting. I didn’t feel any chemistry between them even though there was one masked sexual encounter that was very steamy.
The second part got better. I loved that the FMC was a programmer since it is not often that women get STEM roles either in fiction or life. I liked the work espionage aspect and was interested to see how that got handled. And while the numerous intimate scenes were fiery, it got too predictable for me. I pretty well skimmed most of the book.
Mr. H-Up by M. Mann, published by Montlake, is the first book in the New Hooked Series.
Easton and his two best friends created a wildly successful app. And Easton, who created a profile for himself quickly falls for Love.
An incredible read. Excellent written literally unputdownable, gives all the feels.
You know that book that you can’t stop thinking about?- the one you find yourself recommending to anyone? The one you want to read all over again.
This is the book for me. One of the most beautifully told romances I’ve ever had the pleasure reading, this is the kind of story that stays with you —and it has everything to do with this author's writing. I fell every bit in love with the characters as they do with each other. Make room in your life to experience this gem of a story.
If you are looking for a super spicy boss employee romance look not far. Mr. Hook up by Marni man is it For Drake and Eastern are completely fire together. This book was so hot that it was making me sweat and my Kindle was melting .This also had a nice balance of emotions but I would say the chemistry and the hotness is the selling point of this book.
So it all started when Eastern started a hook up app in the final year of their Harvard study with his friends for people who do not have time to date. But ronically on the 1st day, he is mstched 100% with a stranger and they feel an instant connection.Unfortunately SarasLove or LOVE was also a final year grad student and she was very busy with her studies and hard part-time job . So they had only chance of a masked sexy encounter and then she slowly disappeared from his life. They had no personal information about each other .Eastern thought he was in love and he never fall for a serious relationship again. But now years have passed and Hooked is one of the most successful dating app in the USA and they are thinking of expansion and for that they have to hire a new director. So entertains Drake .From the 1st day they lik3 they know each other for a long time.
It took few days for them to realise that they are actually Mr. Boston land SarasLove from the app all those years ago. Easton has to convince Drakw that they are not a mistake even though they are working together .Will Drake give him much second chance because it's clear that she has Feeling for Easton too.
I feel this book was a bit fast-paced with lots of hot and heavy scenes even the dialogues and conversations between Easton and Drake are all about Sexual feelings and chemistry. it's true that you can also see that slowly developing emotional connection . Both were studying In competitive programs and they didn't have much time but even with the lack of time they had a genuine connection that lingered for years and so when they reconnected it was very easy too Reignite their passion. I feel the emotional part was lacking in the story . Easton is a gorgeous charming alpha hero. I loved him so much because he was so sincere and real about his feelings .he was very clear that he is in love with Drake aka Love. Drake left him broken hearted all those years ago ,even after that he Never tries to play any kind of games with Drake. Sne is a sassy and feisty Woman. I admire how confident and takentrd she is and how she achieved success in a very man dominated industry. She was dealing with a lot when she first met Easton. The death of her mother, the extreme workload in hard job... everything made her close off and shut down and run away .But it's very clear that she never met anyone so caring so nice so enigmatic like Easton in her life again and he'd definitely left a mark on her heart. it felt like their chemistry never disappeared and they started from the 1st day of the past. Again I would have loved to see a bit more of the emotional or forbidden or angsty part of this story . Overall it was steamy & sometimes emotional contemporary romance
I reviewed an early copy voluntarily
This was my first book from Marni Mann and I am sure now it will not be my last.
One night three friends were sitting around drinking and partying, they want an easier way to hook up with women!! Easton, Holden and Grayson develop an app called Hooked, the story begins as it launches. Easton discovers that he has matched 100% with someone, what are the chances.
Easton “Mr. Boston” and “Saaraslove” start messaging and finally decide to meet up at a masquerade party that Hooked is putting on. The sparks fly and next thing you know they are in the stairwell getting hot and heavy. Things do not go quite as Easton wanted because Love as he calls her disappears within a month leaving him broken hearted.
The second part of the story picks up 5 and half years later. The guys are still in the thick of running their app Hooked that has just gotten bigger and better. I don’t want to say much more as it will be fun the read for yourself.
Told in two parts in two parts this second chance office romance captured me from start to finishes!! I can’t wait to see whose story we get next!!
This book was just okay for me. I liked the storyline and the tech side of how the characters met.
I struggled to stay fully engaged and felt the story jumped straight into multiple O’s a bit too quickly.
Overall, a nice enough read but it didn’t wow me.
Thank you NetGalley and publisher for my advanced copy of this book 📚
I always know with this author I'll get a well written book. This was no exception. I really liked the concept of the app Hooked and how the main characters meet. If you're looking for spicy that's got an equal amount of story, this one's for you. I did skim some because after I awhile the spice just feels redundant but I am looking forward to the next book.
Mr. Hook-up is the first book I've read by Marni Mann. It kept my interest from beginning to end. Easton is swoony and Love (not going to give away her name) is awesome too. This book is a solid 4 stars.
My first Marni Mann read, and I’ve got to say it didn’t really work for me. I didn’t connect with Drake at all, she came across as emotionless during the first part of the story, and this ruined her character for me throughout the rest of the book. Easton though, I liked from the get-go, and even though there was way too much effort put into the sex scenes (in my opinion), the story had me wanting to know more about Easton and his friendships and backstory. I glossed over the sex scenes, they were a bit of a muchness. Overall an average read for me. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
This is the first Marni Mann book I've read but I've always heard amazing things about all of her books. So when I saw this and I read the blurb I just had to read it. Plus the cover model is just gorgeous haha.
I loved the whole concept of this book and I loved Easton and Drake. I also loved Easton's friends alot too.
Marni did it again! I have read almost all of Marni's books and this one did not disappoint. Mr. Hook-up is simply amazing!
The premise of Mr. Hook-up, Mann’s first book in the Hooked series, is super original, and as always, her way with words draws you into the story with ease. And what a story it is! Hooked’s CEO and his two best mates are eager to see if their newly developed casual encounter app can find that perfect match; however, in the interim period, the challenge begins.
In part one, Mr. Boston connects with SaarasLove–I adored her username and bingo–against all odds, there’s a 100% match! I enjoyed their titillating online chat that led to a steamy rendezvous, yet neither he nor she revealed their real names, so when life threw them a curveball, that was enough to arouse my curiosity. But let’s do a five-and-a-half-year fast-forward, leaving our smitten hero’s perspective behind. Although I enjoyed listening to his thoughts, I couldn’t wait to discover how the story would evolve in part two.
Drake Madden landed the job of her dreams with Hooked, and although this felt a tad coincidental, I went with the flow because I was already captivated! I also liked how Mann made Drake and Easton Jones’ POV clear by titling the chapters with their names. The workplace ambience, their banter and mutual chemistry are off the charts, but what do sparks from the past have to do with the present? Mann’s made sure to provoke all the feels while you’re discovering what happens next.
The guys’ leg-pulling made me smile, and I’m looking forward to seeing whose turn it’ll be in book two. By the way, every one of them is drop-dead-charismatically gorgeous! If you’re looking for light on angst spicy escapism, this easy-to-read novel is just what you need.
Thank you to Montlake and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy in favour of an honest review.
Mr. Hook-up was my first experience reading this author's work and I was quite excited since I had heard high praise for her books. I'm sorry to say that I was a bit disappointed. Insta-love or insta-connection, whatever you want to call it, is "generally" not my favorite trope, but I have read insta-love books by other authors who are quite excellent at doing so. Unfortunately, I just didn't get the instant connection between Easton and Love in Part 1 of this book. Now on the other hand, in Part 2, I did get their connection and I really enjoyed the parts of them getting to know each other but I thought all the sex scenes were way overdone--I prefer an author give me character and relationship development so I can connect with them, but that's just my opinion! I did finish the book and I did enjoy the premise and the plot, but I don't think I'll be reading the next book in this series. Again, that's just my opinion -- give it chance if it sounds good to you! I'm grateful to have been given the opportunity to read and review an advance copy of this book through NetGalley.
I wanted to love The Hookup by Marni Mann as I LOVED her Dalton family series. However; I couldn't get into the plotline and found the dialogue/internal thoughts to be cheesy. The pacing was fantastic however.
