Thank you Netgalley for this Arc!
I love that they developed a Hook Up app and are using it themselves.
I loved that they had a match of 100%. They relationship developed quickly. That is the function of a hook up, I know. They had a few conversation and Easton felt like she washer future. That part went a bit too fast for me. Five years later the is the biggest date app there is.
The boys got older, grew up and are real businessmen. It was good to see that they were very successful.
The Catfish moment was something I did not expected, but it was a nice suprise!
When she finally came back, I was a bit confused about the nickname and her bestfriend. I was like: 'Is her bestfriend the one from the app?' And: 'Is she going to date him now, while her bestfriend will meet him and figure out that she misses him?'
It was a good plot twist.
The connection they had felt deep. Honest. Raw. Real. It was an instant feelings, like meeting your soulmate. Seeing that person and know this is the one. I loved that Drake was so open about everything. Easton was just a gentlemen about the situation. Even after those five years after disappearing, Easton knew it was her. That was real love.
The big frame was so painful for Drake, but I could feel how strong she was. She knew that she was innocent and she kept her cool.
It was a fun love story!
When grad student Easton and his best friends launch an app designed to match people with their ideal hook-up, he never expects to find his perfect match, but he matches at 100% with another anonymous user. And, although the app is designed for no-strings flings, Easton and SaarasLove find themselves messaging regularly on the app and forming a true connection. They have one scorching encounter at a masquerade party before going back to messaging. And then one day, after life has pulled them in different directions, the communication just stops.
Years later, extremely successful Easton feels drawn to his new director of app development and engineering. There’s a familiar connection there that he just can’t place, and she feels that same draw.
This is a different spin on second chance romance. Add in office romance, a secret relationship (due to that romance being forbidden in the office), a millionaire bachelor meeting his match, epistolary elements through messages and texts, and plenty of heat, and you are in for a good time. Plus you have a strong woman in STEM portrayal. STEM and steam in one book—how delicious.
The chemistry between Easton and Drake leaps off the page and their scenes are stop-to-fan-yourself steamy, but I preferred the first part of the book dedicated to Easton and SaarasLove getting to know each other to the office relationship section.
I received an advance copy of the book from Montlake and NetGalley. All review opinions are my own.
I was hugely disappointed by this book, mostly by the plot.
I ended up struggling with it most of the time, and wanted to dnf it every couple chapters.
I loved the author's books in the past. They were witty, snarky, sexy, often different than all the others out there. This one was just meh, and at times the plot had me rolling my eyes so hard. I'm not even sure if it was just me or the book. Either way it was not the right book for me.
As always with these kind of reviews, I'm hoping I'm in the minority and just had a bad day, and the reason why the book didn't work for me was wrong timing or just the wrong kind of book.
The spice in this one was top notch! 🔥🔥 it has an entertaining and engaging story line. I enjoyed the dynamic between the characters (not just the two MCs) and found myself hooked on what would happened next. I recommend for a quick spicy romance!
Hooked Up by Marni Mann is an unpredictable and wildly sexy romance that explores the complexities of love and desire in the digital age.
The story revolves around Easton Jones, one of the creators of Hooked, a no-strings hook-up app. When Easton connects with Love, his perfect match on the app, their chemistry is explosive. However, Love suddenly disappears, leaving Easton heartbroken.
Fast forward five years, and Hooked has become the number one dating app in the country. Easton's life takes an unexpected turn when Drake Madden, a brilliant and gorgeous new recruit, reignites his desires. Just as things start to get serious with Drake, Love resurfaces, leaving Easton torn between the woman of his dreams in the present and the fantasy from his past.
Marni Mann's writing captivates from the start, taking readers on a rollercoaster of emotions. While this book is slightly tamer than Mann's usual style, it remains one of my favorites of hers. The slow-burning relationship that develops outside of the steamy moments adds depth to the story, making it a compelling read. I am so excited to read more in this series.
Easton, aka, Mr. Boston and Love meet on Hooked, a new app designed for hook-ups. They don't exchange real names or identities, but after one anonymous meet-up there is an undeniable spark. While Easton never thought he'd make this kind of connection, he is ready to open himself up. That is until Love disappears without notice. Five years later, Drake is hired as Hooked's new hire. Unbeknownst to Easton and Drake, there is a reason they feel so drawn to each other after just meeting...
This was a great read! I will say the book description was a little misleading and made me suspect a love triangle, I am happy to report this was not the case - I have a personal dislike for love triangles lol.. There was great chemistry between the characters. The insta-love didn't feel forced and I loved how Easton was so open about his feelings. Drake was a strong character - intelligent, confident, and kind. I will never tire of reading about women kicking ass in a man's world. I also appreciated the lack of a third act break-up. It was refreshing for the couple to tackle the problem together and actually communicate.
If you're looking for a low-angst, high spice book this is the one for you!
The title and the cover is what originally drew me into this book, that and the fact that I am a huge fan of the tropes that were present in this book! It offers a little bit of everything from office romance, forced proximity to second chance! I LOVED the characters and am excited about the possibility of another novel in the series.
4.5/5 stars
Mr. Hook-up had me hooked up since the first line.
The hooked series revolves around three friends: Easton, Holden and Grayson who founded a hook-up app together called Hooked. You can see the glimpses of The Hooked characters in The Bachelor from The Dalton series. This book focuses on Easton’s story.
To sum up the story whilst avoiding spoilers I'd say; Easton Jones (user: Mr. Boston) and user: Saaraslove who's also called as ‘Love’ find themselves to be a 100% match on the app. Which is pretty rare. They connect, they talk, they sorta meet, they don't exchange names, life happens and they lose contact. Right person, wrong time sort of thingy.
Five years down the road,
Enter: Drake Madden, Hooked’s newly recruited director who makes Easton FEEL.
Enter: Love who's now apologetic and wants to make up for ghosting Easton.
This book was truly and utterly enjoyable. It's just so refreshing to read characters that communicate like actual adults.
I loved how fast paced this book was. A classic second chance office romance with a tinge of angst. The across the office eye contact, the stolen touches and kisses when no one is looking. I loved the relatable and lovable characters. The found family trope, how each of the guys have each other's back and the over-all setting of this book. I have a feeling book two is gonna be as good as this one.
I was a bit skeptical In the first few chapters is, it reminded me of another book I had read with the same sort of hook about 100% love match on a dating website, but it did get me hooked. I love books where there is texts and emails to, and from with little jokes. I love the fact that when she turned back up again, years down the line I felt like I was screaming at the book its love how can you not realize. I felt her pain when someone was trying to frame her love the way it was written up. Did think it was dragged out abit towards the end but I really really liked this book, am hoping there gonna be more on his friends and hopefully and love interest between her best friend and his
Will post a review on tiktok, Goodreads and Amazon’s
TLDR:
Tropes? Masked Lovers and Second Chance
How well executed are the tropes? Very well.
Is the reason behind initial break up of second chance trope annoying and unreasonable and easily solved with a single conversation? No and thank goodness because I find that unforgivable.
How well matched are the couple? **hehehe** Read to see!
How hot was this book? SIZZLING and SCORCHING
How jealous am I of the female MC? Extremely!
Other plot elements? Pretty well fleshed out.
Would I recommend? Absolutely.

First of all thank you for making the ARC immediately available. I chose it because I found the title and cover funny. I was initially very surprised by this story because the first part is told entirely from the guy’s POV. I found this very unique and refreshing. I have never spent so much time in a guy’s perspective in a heterosexual romance novel. This is the first book I’ve read from this author so I don’t know if this is normal for her. I guess I will now have to read all her other books to find out. Lucky me.
I was expecting the playboy gets caught trope but color me shocked when I got to watch him fall hard and fast through adorable funny text banter, genuine conversation, one hot and heavy in person quickie and quite possibly the hottest phone sex scene I’ve ever read! Ms. Mann then decided I need to live through his heartbreak with him. Ouch. That’s all the plot description you get from me. The rest I will not spoil. It’s too much fun.
This is the rare second chance trope book where you get to see what went wrong the first time at least from one party so accepting it comes a little easier. I usually have difficulty with the second chance trope because the initial breakup is hardly ever justified. Here it is justified in my opinion and the choices made sense to me.
One thing I really enjoyed in this book was that the characters acted like proper adults with brains and didn’t drag things out or overcomplicate them just for the drama. Thank you Ms. Mann. Characters actually communicating and working through their issues together is very sexy to me. I can root for such characters. That isn’t to say the book is drama free, it’s just that the drama source isn’t a fake and unnecessary one and I really appreciated that.
I found this a very sweet and spicy book. I’m jealous as hell because I don’t think any guy can measure up to the male MC and he’s almost too perfect. Thank goodness I hate some of his hobbies or I would really have a problem falling for a fictional character!
The only thing I might criticize here is that I felt the after resolution part went on a bit too long but it’s not that big a deal.
4 out of 5 stars. Highly recommend.
Great read and totally liked it. I found me a new author to read books and liked it all. I will read more things from them. Read it.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
A very fantastically written smutty romance full of spice, relationships and desire. This book was filled to the brim with moments that gave me thousands of butterflies in my stomach. I loved Drake so much as a female protagonist
This novel unfortunately falls short of its potential, offering a long, drawn-out narrative that fails to deliver any surprises. The book builds up an air of attraction where the two get matched up on an app and don’t know each other. The relationship feels juvenile with chapters of texts back and forth and the sex scenes filling up the first half of the book. I did not see any point in the storyline. The lackluster twist leaves me feeling underwhelmed and dissatisfied.
One of the major issues with the story is its pacing. The story progresses at a sluggish pace, prolonging the anticipation unnecessarily. As we wade through countless chapters filled with unnecessary moments the novel struggles to maintain engagement. While some readers may enjoy all the sex , the lack of significant plot developments or intriguing characters leads to a monotonous reading experience.
The storyline is a letdown, mainly because there is no revelation. This lack of originality and the absence of a shocking twist hampers the impact of the story, rendering it entirely predictable.
Furthermore, the characterization fails to make up for the novel's shortcomings. The protagonist lacks depth and fails to evolve throughout the narrative, making it difficult for readers to form a strong connection or invest in their journey. Supporting characters are similarly one-dimensional, lacking the complexity and development needed to create a truly immersive reading experience.
Highly disappointed and hardly worth finishing.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this ARC. I haven’t read this author before but will again. This was a fun read. The second half was better than the first but I liked the HEA. I liked the other characters and look forward to others in the series.
3.5 ⭐️
I just adore Marni Mann and was so excited to get this book. We first saw a glimpse of Easton in Marni’s bachelor book so I was excited to get a book just about him. As usual I could not put this book down and didn’t want it to end! I truly hope there will be more!
This was my first book by Marni Mann it entered be the last. I raced through this in less than 24 hours!
Easton creates an app with his two best friends in college, its purpose is to meet others for no strings one night stands. When Easton matches with 'Love' the immediately click and meet up, with both left feeling like what they have could be meant for more than one night. They keep in touch, but suddenly, Love disappears and ghosts Easton.
I really enjoyed the pace of this book right from the off. The characters were brilliant, although I'd have liked to read more about Loves friend Saara and their relationship. With lots of spicy moments along the way, this is a big thumbs up from me.
This book was really well written, and the story was super cute! This was not my favorite book from Marni Mann, and I can't tell you exactly what was lacking. Maybe the plot just felt more like a someone telling the events of their day, and less like an enthralling story. THAT BEING SAID, I still enjoyed it SO much! Its just so hard, when Mann consistently releases absolute bangers, every book reaching that high standard becomes impossible. But Drake and Easton were still so amazing, their chemistry was off the charts, and I loved reading about their origin. What this book lacked in twisting plotline, it made up for in spades with chemistry, banter, and romance. Still a must read from Mann, and I cannot wait to ready about Holden and Grayson soon!
I couldn’t wait to read Mr. Hook-Up after reading The Bachelor by Marni Mann, and it was everything I hoped for and more! This book is a standalone story, and the start of Marni’s new Hooked series. Readers first meet some of the characters from Mr. Hook-Up in Marni’s book The Bachelor as Camden Dalton helps Declan Shaw take on a case that becomes a large part of this series. Not only do I highly recommend the whole Dalton series (they are interconnected stand-alones) as they are all fantastic reads, but I definitely recommend reading The Bachelor first if possible as it was so good and gives you a little glimpse into this book!
This book has one of my favorite tropes ever, texting/secret identity, and I couldn’t get enough. It is split into two parts, and I was honestly so in love with this story as I read it. I won’t give anything away, but I had to know how things would go after part one and didn’t want to put this one down for anything! These characters are sexy and witty, and I just loved every second of this one!
Fans of Marni will love this book as it has everything i’ve come to expect and appreciate about her stories! Her writing is so good and you can’t help but fall in love with her characters and want to be right there with them. She also always brings the spice, and this one was no exception! I can’t wait to read this one again and to also get more in this series! I love Marni’s books, but this one could possibly be my new favorite! Mr. Hook-Up will have you Hooked from the very first page, an absolute must-read!
"Mr. Hook-up" takes readers on a captivating journey of love, desire, and the complexities of relationships in the digital age. This gripping novel, devoid of titles and names, is a compelling exploration of the intertwining of past and present, and the choices we make when faced with unexpected connections.
The story centers around Easton Jones, one of the creators of the highly successful Hooked dating app. When he first joins his own creation, he encounters Love, a mysterious and seemingly perfect match. Their chemistry is undeniable, but just as Easton begins to fall for her, Love disappears from the app, leaving him longing for answers.
Five years later, Hooked has become the top dating app in the country, and Easton's professional life is thriving. However, his personal life is about to be turned upside down when Drake Madden, a brilliant and attractive new recruit, enters his world. Their connection is electric, reigniting desires that Easton hasn't felt in years.
As Easton finds himself torn between his blossoming relationship with Drake and the sudden reappearance of Love, the author skillfully portrays the complex emotions and internal struggles that arise. The narrative delves into the depths of Easton's heart as he grapples with the choices he must make, blurring the lines between fantasy and reality.
The pacing of the plot is excellent, keeping readers engaged and eagerly turning the pages to uncover the twists and turns that lie ahead. The author's writing style is fluid and engaging, capturing the nuances of desire and the turmoil of conflicting emotions. One of the standout aspects of this book is its exploration of the impact of technology on modern relationships. The author raises thought-provoking questions about the blurred boundaries between virtual and real-life relationships, leaving readers pondering the nature of love and the choices we make in the digital realm.
The characters in "Mr. Hook-up" are well-developed and relatable, each carrying their own desires and insecurities. Easton's internal struggles are particularly well-crafted, as he navigates the treacherous waters of his heart. The romantic tension between the characters is palpable, and the author skillfully balances the emotional depth with moments of sensuality and passion.

As Easton's world is rocked to its core, readers are taken on a rollercoaster ride of emotions, ultimately leaving them contemplating the complexities of love, desire, and the choices we make when faced with difficult decisions.
My first time reading Marni Mann and won't been my last. Loved the story line and the characters. Read it two days could not put it down. Thanks to NetGalley for the copy for a honest review.
