Accidental pregnancy trope done right! Beckham and Lennon had a great dynamic, and I enjoyed the second chance romance, nd cute little Bee!!
lI ask her, “Do you really want a puppy?” She snorts. “Why? Would you get me one?” Maybe. “No, I’m just curious.” 💻👶🏻🐱🛍
thank you to Micalea Smeltzer and netgallery for giving me the chance to review this book as an arc i liked this book pretty well though i will say there wasn’t much to it to me at least
like there wasn’t anything too special about this book it was a cute smutty yet also fluffy read i liked the characters beckham is hot and the things he did for lennon you could definitely tell that by the end of the book he really would do anything for lennon. As for lennon herself i liked her character there were some really ehhh moments but in general she cute
the plot of the book was good the whole workspace one-night pregnancy trope and all i liked that all but there really wasn’t much that stood out. Like there isn’t anything in this book that i would remember a year on from now. it was really just a super basic pregnancy romance book but like not in a bad way. Cause like you really cannot go wrong with a basic romance read….;)
“she’ll let me put another baby in her.”
Lennon and Beckham used to be friends. And for one brief moment, years ago, they even were lovers. But after he took her V-card, he ran. They haven't seen each other in years, and now, they have to work together. There is still a lot of hurt, but the chemistry is real. And then after one night of weakness, Lennon gets pregnant. Whether they like it or not, they're stuck together now. This is a lot of things: brother's best friend, childhood friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, grumpy sunshine, one night, accidental pregnency, workplace, second chance romance. And maybe it was a bit too much for me. Accidental pregnancy isn't my favorite trope, but I think it was fairly well done here. However, I found both MCs very unlikable and immature, which made it hard for me to vibe at all with the story. The spice was decent and there is no third act break up.
I received an advance review copy of this book for free and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I love a good second chance romance. I especially love one where he's left for "no good reason" and then they run into one another again years later and the chemistry is still there even though he's borderline hostile to her. I mean we all know he's into her and in denial, right? This is pretty much how Beckham treated Lennon until he finally figures out the can't live without her.....but that takes a while.
Pretty Little Mistake was a fun and somewhat sweet read. It also had some spice and a little heartbreak. Basically this book had a nice little mix of everything. I enjoyed the character development and even though it was a simple story....it was lovely and just what I was looking for. If you'e looking for a second chance romance with an HEA that is hard fought, this is the book for you.
Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC. I voluntarily chose to read and review it and the opinions contained within are my own.
Thank you to Netgalley, Micalea Smelzer, and Montlake for the ARC of Pretty Little Mistake in exchange for an honest review!
Description:
Pretty Little Mistake follows Lennon and Beckham in this friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, second chance romance, and grumpy sunshine masterpiece. Lennon and Beckham grow up together and go from friends to lovers in high school, however, it all comes tumbling down around them and they go from loving each other to despising each other. When Lennon gets a new job, she quickly realizes that Beckham is now her coworker. After a work trip and steamy drunken night together, Lennon finds out that she is pregnant. Pretty Little Mistake is the perfect title for this second chance romance.
Review:
Pretty Little Mistake has all of my favorite tropes: friends to lovers, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, and grumpy sunshine. The tension and angst was perfection! The undeniable connection between Lennon and Beckham was beautiful. Beckham was everything that this world needs in a man, the way he quickly took responsibility and took care of Lennon in every way possible. My heart just melted! I highly highly recommend this book! I loved every minute of it!
This was a cute book. Friends to enemies- lovers. I really enjoyed the characters and the pregnancy trope. That's a new one for me. Thank you for the opportunity to read this amazing book.
This one was the perfect read for my mood at the time!
Lennon and Beckham. He was her brother's best friend growing up. She had some feelings always.
We know something happened, and now they basically hate each other. He is so closed off and grumpy. And she is the sunshine.
She walks into her new job that she is so excited about and who happens to work there? Yep - Beckham! They get thrown together on a project that results in a business trip. That results in a *wiggles eyebrows* great time! And that night turns into something that will link them together for life.
I loved watching their feelings and relationship grow. Their banter and their humor.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Montlake for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I really enjoyed Lennon's and Beckham's story! They already had a history together with a bad ending so when he walked into Lennon's job and they're forced to work on a project together, how could that possibly go wrong?
Surprise.... a one night stand turns into a pregnancy and things get emotional, crazy, and perfect all within a nine month span! Lennon was unsure of how this was going to work. Work, pregnant, their families, living arrangements, the whole works! But they ride that rollercoaster together and work through all the obstacles that came their way!
Beckham was so attentive and caring of Lennon and the baby while she was pregnant. He made sure she rested plenty, got massaged as she needed, they talked, watched movies together. It was all so sweet. Who better to get pregnant by!!
This was definitely a emotional read and so fun to read. Definitely recommend.
When Lennon lands her dream job at a small up and coming magazine, she is instantly horrified to realize that the boy who took her virginity and then disappeared from her life will be her co-worker.
Beckham can't believe that the one woman he'd love to never see again is now working at his magazine, and they've been thrown together to partner for a big pitch in a few months.
While they both can throw insults and verbally spar like pros, neither can deny their intense physical attraction, and when they succumb on a business trip, they end up pregnant. Now they must navigate their new normal together, realizing that they are now going to be linked together forever through this child.
The physical chemistry in this book was just intense and crazy and amazing, and their banter was incredible. Along with the enemies to lovers intensity that I love, there were also very sweet and tender moments as they work through their past issues, and realize just how the odds were always stacked against them. I really enjoyed this one!
Thank you to Montlake Publishing for providing me with an ARC of this book.
Lennon was raised in an affluent lifestyle however she is determined to forge her own path which includes working as a writer at a magazine. She never expected that this job would bring Beckham, her first love, her first time and her first heartbreak, back into her life.
Beckham had a difficult past until he was adopted by a wealthy family however the scars never truly healed. He believed that Lennon deserved more than he could give her however life had other plans as not only are they working together but now they are expecting a baby together and that is when the complications truly begin.
Lennon and Beckham have unfinished business as they find themselves facing a second chance that is filled with humor, heat and healing.
Okay, this book was so surprising because I'm not a fan of pregnancy tropes, but I adored this one!
Holy crap, Micalea is such a good writer. I was addicted to every damn word! This had second chance, surprise pregnancy, forced proximity, one night stand, friends to exfriend to lovers complication, work romance. After an end to the friendship, they find each other years later to work on a project and of course they gotta have a one night stand, which leaves them a little surprise.
The character development was amazing, the chemistry was chef's kiss, this entire thing was hardcore beautiful. I'm now hella excited to read more work by Micalea (and The Confidence of Wildflowers is on my tbr shelf)
Pretty Little Mistake was a magnificent story. Beckham and Lennon's story from friends to enemies to lovers was intriguing. Micalea Smeltzer did a great job building the relationship between the two main characters as the story progressed. These two were the perfect match. They suited one another and they truly got each other. Their banter was playful with an underlying of chemistry. I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. The evolution of Beckham and Lennon was wonderful. There was the perfect amount of spice, sweet, humor, happiness, and sadness. I always love the books this author writes and Pretty Little Mistake was no different. It was an all-around great love story full of heart.
I received this ARC from NetGalley for an honest review. Thank you!
I love a second chance romance and Pretty Little Mistake didn't disappoint me. I loved this book.
Lennon and Beckham were lovers but Beckham decided to leave Lennon and she never forgot him and she didn't want to see him in her life. But fate brings them together again, by finding them working together at the same magazine and project forcing them to spend time together.
They still have feelings for each other and by working together they have a night of passion that leads to a surprise pregnancy. Both of them accepted to become parents and they slowly became a little family of three.
I loved their journey and how they learned again to be a couple without secrets and to be parents. I recommend it to everyone who loves second chance romance and surprise pregnancy.
This is an emotional second chance romance that got me from the start.
This story is about Lennon and Beckham, who have both have had incredible pain and heartbreak.
Later they work for the same magazine, their feelings resurface.
They have to confront their wounds from their past.
This is my first book by Micalea Smeltzer but I have to say she has an incredible way of telling a story.
She really captivated me.
I really want to love this story. I really do but it's not for me. I have to dnf it at 35%.
Accidental pregnancy is one of my favorite trope. I dig that shit but what makes me not love this story is that when Lennon starts saying "I'm an independent woman. I can raise this child just fine on my own." I can already feel my eyes rolling at the back of my head.
I don't understand why she can't just accept Beckham's help.
At least Beckham steps up to be the best father but Lennon? yeaah nope.
Micalea Smeltzer is one of my all time favorite authors. From her beautiful story of Sweet Dandelion to the Confidence of Wildflowers Duet, Micalea brings her characters to life with her talented and remarkable storytelling.
Pretty Little Mistake is now another one of my favorites from Micalea. I love how she envisions and then brings the friends-to-lovers-to-strangers-to-enemies-to-semi-friends-to-LOVERS. She gives the true definition of enemies to lovers with the story of Lennon and Beckham but she also sprinkles a little accidental pregnancy into it and it becomes a beautiful PRETTY LITTLE MISTAKE.
I was so excited to read this book because the Wildflower series was my favorite read last year!! This book did not disappoint! The chemistry between Lennon and Beckham was palpable, and their character development felt authentic and relatable. Smeltzer's writing style flowed effortlessly, drawing me deeper into the story with each page. All in all, this book had it all—funny banter, character growth, and a romance that hit all the right spots. I was totally invested in Lennon and Beckham's journey, and I couldn't put the book down. I highly recommend this book! I can't wait to read more from Micalea!
Thank you NetGalley and Montlake for allowing me to read this ARC for my honest opinion.
punch Beckham but there was just something about him that you just wanted to hold him and tell him everything will be alright. He was lucky that Lennon was such a sweet person and forgive him for his stupidity.
I have read 3 other books from this author and I really enjoyed them, so I had high expectations for Pretty Little Mistake. I totally love second chance romance, especially when it is childhood friends to lovers to enemies to lovers, however I don't love the accidental pregnancy trope. This book was able to pull off the pregnancy trope in a way that felt authentic and not far-fetched, like can be the case sometimes. I think the fact that Lennon and Beckham were childhood (high school?) friends to lovers helped make the story line more believable. I wished that Lennons parents would have come around in the end, but I am glad that her brother was building a relationship with her.

***Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!***
When it comes to romance tropes, second chance and surprise baby tend to be the ones I gravitate to the least. That being said, I intentional requested this ARC in an attempt to push myself out of my comfort zone and to broaden my horizons.
Did I particularly enjoy this? Did it make me fall in love with second chance or surprise pregnancy? Not necessary.…but I thought it was well written and the tropes themselves were executed perfectly here. I would specifically highly recommend this book to lovers of surprise pregnancy romances in general. This book was heavily focused on the pregnancy itself and the impact it had on the way Beckham and Lennon viewed both their past and future. The work backdrop and side characters definitely took a back seat to the pregnancy, but I imagine there are a lot of readers that will really enjoy that.
Especially given the previously mentioned tropes, I liked the fact that this was fairly low angst. There wasn’t a big dramatic 3rd act conflict, but there were plenty of moments where Lennon and Beckham were forced to communicate and work through their issues.
All in all, I thought this was a solid read and I can see why a lot of readers out are really going to enjoy it!!
