FAVORITE ROMANTIC COMEDY OF THE YEAR! Ed is a 28 year old virgin. You heard me right. 28 and virgin. His best friend, Mia, make sit her mission to change this and also teach him to be a great guy at the same time. Is it possible to have sex and not develop feelings?
You'll have to read to find out! 5/5!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the first book I have read by Kristen Bailey and I am now a loyal fan and will be buying her other books! This is your basic romcom style book with it's usual tropes in addition to some spicy fun whilst also being sweet and romantic. The character development is perfect and it doesn't take you long to be rooting for the two best friends to eventually fall in love.
This book is really sex positive and a pleasant read where it can be somewhat relatable, especially with some of the descriptive past sex experiences by Mia one of our main characters.
Sex Ed is a perfectly naughty romcom and would recommend to everyone who wants a fun read.
Thank you to Netgalley and Kristen for the chance to read this e-arc. I read it cover to cover in one sitting. The characters were relatable in the sense that we’ve all been there at some point in our lives. The dialogue was hilarious. I hope we get to hear more about Ed & Mia
4.25 stars ⭐️ - I really liked this book. This was my first Kristen Bailey book, but it definitely won’t be my last. This was a spicy & sweet romance. It was very funny and steamy all at the same time. Love Love Love this one!!!
Thank you NetGalley and Storm Publishing for the arc of this book!
Wow, this was seriously laugh out loud funny! I can’t remember the last time a book made me laugh so much and that’s a huge testament to Bailey’s witty writing. Mia is comedic hot-mess heroine that you can’t help but root for and Ed is a previous, naive, cinnamon roll hero who you can’t help but love. The plot was really cute with workplace romance, friends to lovers, and sex lessons. The epilogue was perfect and everything I want wrapped up in a romance. Overall, totally recommend to romcom fans who love a male virgin love interest.
I don’t even know where to begin with this book. It was hilarious! I’m not normally drawn to those out-there, zany British characters in books. But Mia is so funny, and Ed is so sweetly naïve. The beginning of Ed’s story in college had me laughing out loud and those moments continued throughout the book.
I’ve only recently been introduced to Kristen Bailey’s books, but she is becoming a favorite. If you’re looking for a funny, racy read to put you in a great mood, this book is for you.
Thank you to NetGalley and Storm Publishing for this complimentary ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I was laughing out loud within reading the first couple of pages. The story is shockingly funny most of the time! Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. Four stars.
"I feel my love for falafel may have affected my judgement, but I did think about all the times I've been judged and sex-shamed as a woman, and I didn't want him to feel the same for being a virgin."
Kristen Bailey is back, and you know damn well I cleared my schedule when I got sent a copy of this book.
This book perfectly balances that cosy, familiar feeling of your favourite romcom tropes with a refreshingly wicked streak full of Baileys patented humour and style. I adore the openness and unapologetic sex-positivity in her writing, and the radical acceptance and authenticity that always shines through.
Her characters are stunning as per usual, I loved Ed and how he wasn’t shamed or judged for his virginity, the same as Mia wasn’t for her sexuality. Both of them were full of heart and so loveable; and they were so real with their awkwardness and mishaps it felt like I knew them — their personal, direct narration gave it an easily readable feeling that had me flying through. Bailey is a star when it comes to writing characters you just want to befriend.
Along with the antics we find out characters doing in the present, watching Mia reminisce about the cringe-inducing moments of her past had me howling as she led us through painfully relatable experiences we’ve all been through and reminding us that nobody really has any clue what they’re doing.
There’s some spicy, steamy fun along with such sweet romance and friendships — it’s a joy watching the relationships between our characters evolve and change, trying to navigate the changes in themselves and the changes happening between them. Of course, it’s a romcom and there’s plenty of little things that made me roll my eyes and scream “Come on, you’re making it more complicated than it needs to be!” - but that’s all part of the fun.
Sex Ed is a riotously funny and chaotic read but with so much heart and warmth.
This book absolutely saved my from my reading slump! It is such a fun and easy read and I absolutely devoured it in one sitting.
I adore Ed and Mias sense of humour and how they bounce off each other. It’s been a long while since I’ve laughed out loud at a book.
Ed is such a sweetie and Mia is witty and so unapologetically herself. These two are perfect and I so wish there were more Ed’s in the world.
