4.5/5 stars! This is the second book in Amber Nicole's "Gods and Monsters" series. This book has more edges and darkness than its predecessor, but I loved it. There's something about feminine rage that is wonderful to experience. The book was long, but I adore Samkiel and Dianna, so I didn't mind spending some extra time with them.

I had very high hopes for this one after absolutely loving The Book of Azrael but it ended up falling a little flat. The writing felt very repetitive and the characters all acted like teenagers throughout the whole book. I also felt it moved really slow from about 30%-80% and it was hard to want to pick up. The last 20% though, I couldn’t put it down!

This is the second book of the Gods and Monsters series. As a second installment, I was expecting the story to get a little stale in places, and it did. However, it didn't take away from the story as a whole, and I felt like it was a solid continuation. I wasn't a huge fan of the miscommunication between the MCs, but I can see why it was necessary for the story. The tradeoff was some good spice later in the book, so I'll take it.
Overall, I would recommend this book (and series).

The Book of Azreal is a book that I loved and think about constantly, so this was very much a 5-star prediction for me. Unfortunately, it did fall a little short of my expectatations, but I still very much enjoyed this and am looking forward to see where the rest of the series goes.
I would say that the second half was a lot better than the first. I understand that we had to deal with the fall out from that ending, but it felt like things just ended up getting repetitive and annoying with Dianna acting out and Samkiel attempting to save her. I definitely ended up enjoying the book more once that was over. I liked the new perspectives that we got here and how a little found family is really beginning to develop.

AMBER NICOLE YOU OWN ME.
I don’t know how I managed to wait so long to read this masterpiece that is the Gods & Monsters series. Never have I ever read feminine rage so perfectly written. The tension made me want to die (in a good way). Diana has secured her position as one of my favorite FMCs and her revenge ARC is **flawless**. I will immediately be jumping into book 3. I cant recommend this series enough.
Read this book if you like:
* Forbidden love
* Only one bed
* Morally grey FMC
* Fated mates
*Enemies to lovers….to enemies to lovers

Perfection. I absolutely LOVE this series! I got overwhelmed from the hype of this book after it got picked up by a publisher but I finally reread the first book to go into this one and now I'm off to read the third book. It's so addicting, the spicy scenes are far and few between but they're well written and so worth the wait. The plot has me hooooked, can't wait to see what happens in book three as I feel we found out so much in this one!

While the story premise is interesting, similar to the first book, I had issues with how drawn out the story is. The story could've been edited down, especially how much felt repetitive (toward the previous book/internal monologue/etc.). It takes a while to get through the writing to find the story, which does not make an enjoyable reading experience, personally.
I went into the second hoping for more editing compared to the last, but I think the author can continue to grow and improve so her story can best be delivered. It's frustrating as a reader who sees the potential, so I'm curious, especially considering the cliffhanger ending.
Dianna is traumatized (even more so) after the first book and Samkiel has no chance so expect angst, but don't worry, you'll still get smut.

The whirlwind of emotions I felt throughout this book. The FMC is truly one of a kind. Dianna is such a complex charater that is written in such a relatable way, you can't help but feel a closeness and likeness to her. Her process of emotions throughout the book was raw and honest. The MMC, Samkiel, and Dianna are the perfect blend. I love how they pair so well together. The devotion and loyalty is unwavering. I was blown away by the beauty in this story.

Wow - this was such an interesting reading experience for me given where I was mentally when I first picked this book up. After reading Book 1 (The Book of Azrael earlier this year), I knew I needed to pick up this one to see where the story was going to go. This installment is a beautiful exploration of grief. Everyone handles grief differently, and grief can hit us at any time and I absolutely loved the portrayal of grief. I remember thinking at one point "where is this going because we're only 30% of the way into this".
I also had to put this book down. Starting in July, I felt myself starting to slip into a reading slump. With that, I decided to put this down until I felt like I was back in the flow of reading. That meant I didn't pick this back up until November. And this was exactly the right all for me. If I would've powered through when I wasn't feeling it, I would not have finished the book nor would I have enjoyed it. I felt so many emotions reading this and am INVESTED in the story.
Overall, I thought this was a strong installment I loved the style of Amber V. Nicole within this series. A healthy mix of romance, friendship/family, politics and world building. It's such a beautiful blend of what makes the fantasy romance genre such a fun one to read. I'm so excited to see where Amber takes this series and am ready to dive into book 3.
Pick this up if you've read book 1, enjoy a healthy mix of character driven and plot driven moments, growth and twists/turns when you least expect them. Avoid if you're not a fan of fantasy romance or didn't enjoy book 1 or if grief due to loss of a loved one is content that you don't want to read.

⭐⭐⭐⭐½
This book is an exhilarating ride from start to finish! Amber V. Nicole crafts a world rich in mythology, betrayal, and high-stakes adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat. The duality of Samkiel and Dianna’s relationship is mesmerizing; their journey of love and revenge intertwines perfectly, showcasing the “forbidden love” trope amidst their moral complexities. The character development is outstanding, making each twist feel impactful. The tension builds beautifully, leading to a climactic finale that left me yearning for more. A must-read for fans of epic fantasy!

i will say that i did not expect to love this series as much as i do. it’s hard for me to get into some fantasy series but i absolutely loved this. all the characters and the worlds and the !!! BANTER !!!! samkiel supremacy

In this captivating fantasy romance, the author weaves a beautifully intricate world filled with magic, adventure, and an undeniable chemistry between the protagonists. From the very first page, readers are drawn into a richly imagined landscape where the stakes are high, and love transcends boundaries.
The characters are delightfully complex, each facing their own trials and transformations. Their journey is not just about romance; it’s about self-discovery and the courage to embrace one’s true self. The chemistry between them crackles with tension, making every shared moment feel electric and deeply meaningful.
The plot is expertly crafted, balancing moments of heart-pounding action with tender, intimate scenes that linger long after the book is closed. The author’s lyrical prose brings the settings to life, allowing readers to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and danger of this enchanting world.
Overall, this book is a delightful escape that deftly combines elements of fantasy and romance. It’s a testament to the power of love and the strength found in vulnerability. Perfect for fans of the genre, it’s a story that will stay with you long after you’ve turned the final page. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a magical journey of the heart!

Wow. The pain, the emotion, the journey. It’s all told in a very captivating way in this book. It’s a roller coaster and I loved it. The story of growth, acceptance and love is so meaningful between Dianna and Samkiel. I loved the creative world building without dragging into description. Overall just an amazing read!

This book was amazing! The first installment of this series was a bit hard to get in to at first. This second book however was so good!
I feel like the author is coming with something new and I really recommend it!

Good overall theme of grief and recovery. I liked the multiple POVs and continued story line. The character growth and story lines were great. It was length but not insurmountable- but the phrase “a lock on a door in the house rattled” was way overused.

Unfortunately, The Thone of Broken Gods was a major letdown for me. Despite its intriguing blurb and the praise, it has received, I found the book to be dull and repetitive. The plot felt stagnant, with the same themes and scenarios being revisited over and over without adding new dimensions to keep me engaged.
I feel bad about not finishing it, especially given the positive reviews and the promise the book held. However, I struggled to maintain my interest and couldn’t bring myself to continue. It’s disappointing when a book doesn’t live up to expectations, but I hope that others might find it more captivating than I did.

4.75🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
The beginning was hard for me… I’m a super emotional reader so there’s that. It wasn’t bad. Just a little angsty. It also had a bit of repetition.
But it really starts picking up around 33% and by 50% I’m totally back into the world!
The last 10% of this book is a pure masterpiece! So many shocking moments I didn’t even know what to do!
The book begins where the last one ended. Diana is completely unhinged and out for revenge. For legal purposes, I would never act that way… but I could see slaughtering everyone who betrayed me and killed my last remaining family… and considering it’s a fantasy world, totally made sense to me.
Her treatment of Samkiel I struggled with a bit. I get wanting to push him away and feeling guilty, but she goes a bit too far imo.
Safety warning: it’s mentioned several times she sleeps with OM during this time. Nothing on page. But it iffed me.
Samkiel was so enamored. His unwillingness to give up on her was astounding… I wish he’d made Diana grovel a little when she came around.
Let’s talk about Queen Imogen!!! I was worried after the last book how she would be once she was on page… Amber did such a great job! I hate sabotaging jealous exes. Imogen was supportive, sweet, not jealous, and befriended Diana. I loved her! Maybe we can get a spin off novella with her story one day.
I adored the rest of the Hand as well (except Vincent!!! He can fly into a window for all I care).
The mates aspect in this series is so interesting. I figured out pretty quickly that Diana was Samkiels. I figured when they said she died they were referring to her turning or they knew she’d be “evil” and just said that hoping he’d marry Imogen.
The delay in them saying I love you pissed me off. They both admitted it in their inner monologues. They gave themselves fully to eachother yet were scarred to say it until that ending???
Cam and Logan’s actions at the end make sense. Camilla even seems redeemed mostly to me. Fuck Drake! Nothing worse than a fake ass bestie.
Now I must patiently wait 3 months to see what sacrifice was made. ISTG I will scream if they end up with different mates.

I am still reeling from the masterful conclusion of The Throne of Broken Gods, the second installment in the Book of Azrael series. Amber V. Nicole has outdone herself, weaving a complex tapestry of characters, politics, and magic that will leave you breathless and yearning for more.
The world-building in this installment is nothing short of phenomenal. The author has taken the foundation laid in The Book of Azrael and expanded upon it with reckless abandon, introducing new characters, histories, and secrets that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The result is a narrative that is both epic in scope and intimate in its character-driven focus.
One of the standout aspects of this book is the morally gray protagonist, whose inner turmoil and struggles will resonate deeply with readers. Their perspective is a wild ride, full of twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the very end. And yet, it's not just the protagonist who shines - the cast of characters is richly diverse and multidimensional, with each one bringing their own unique brand of complexity to the table.
The Throne of Broken Gods is a triumph. It's a testament to Amber V. Nicole's skill as a writer that I found myself completely invested in these characters and their struggles, even when they didn't always agree with me. I devoured every word, desperate to know what lay ahead for this fractured cast of characters. And now, I'm left eagerly awaiting the next installment, my heart racing with anticipation.
If you're a fan of epic fantasy with complex characters, morally gray protagonists, and intricate world-building, then The Throne of Broken Gods is an absolute must-read. Trust me when I say that you won't be disappointed.
