Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'Kiss the Girl' by Zoraida Córdova.

'Kiss the Girl' is the third meant to be novel - a series retelling iconic fairytales. This time, its The Little Mermaid written by Zoraida Córdova. I haven't read many books by this author, only anthologies she has edited.
This story was such a fun retelling of The Little Mermaid where Ariel is a famous pop star who performs with her six sisters and Eric is an up and coming rock star with his band. I loved the way Córdova wrote their romance and I especially loved the nod to their future daughter Melody in the story. Absolute perfection.

My thanks to Netgalley, Zoraida Cordova and Bonnier Books for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved the twist on the original tale - I thought having Ariel and her sisters be a famous band was a really fun twist on a part of the movie that is often overlooked entirely. Eric was a dream. Absolutely would read this again and recommend to all my friends, especially as I'm a huge fan of the original disney movie!

I’ve loved the Meant to Be series so much, and this latest instalment did not disappoint.

Though filled with wonderful nods to the original film, this novel was written so beautifully it felt like a whole new story.

Ariel is tired of being trapped in a bubble of fame that’s been created from her and her sisters, so after falling for an up and coming artist, she decides to join them on tour selling merch.

Along the way she discovers a lot about who she is as a person, whilst making new friends, seeing new places and falling in love.

This book was so fun and easy to read - dare I say my fave in the series yet!

Thank you NetGalley and Bonnier Books for the ARC.

⭐️⭐️⭐️✨

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the E-Arc.

This is such an adorable read I loved the references to the little mermaid. There’s so many little hidden things that I just loved so much. I definitely recommend reading this one if you’re in the mood for a really lighthearted really fun and really cheesy sweet read.

The characters are super lovable, although there are a lot of them, but once you get further in and you meet all of the personalities it becomes a lot easier to understand it is quite confusing throughout with Ariel/melody because maybe the author mix them up occasionally, but there were times that people would refer to Ariel when Ariel was not Ariel.

I definitely will be picking up the other books in the meant to be series. I haven’t actually read any of them but you don’t need to to understand this book. I don’t think there’s any references to the other books as they are by different authors, but I will be picking those up because I really enjoyed this one.

Thank you NetGalley for the chance to read and review this book. So where to start, The Little Mermaid has been a part of my DNA since I was a child. I blew out video after video due to watching it so much. And when I saw that the story would be retold as part of The Meant To Be series, I was over the moon and I am so happy to say this book does not disappoint.

Ariel is a 21st century pop star who has been controlled by her father since her childhood and all she wants it to be ‘part of the world’ (ha) to discover who she is outside of the red wig. She goes to a gig with her sister and this where we meet the beautifully written Eric, ever the romantic and optimist.

We see a love story take place whilst Ariel joins Eric’s band (star crossed) on tour and Ariel discover her new ‘voice’. She discovers who she is without her six sisters behind her.

The characters are also an amazing part of the story with representation for the LGBTQ+ community and a big emphasis on Latino culture. The books shows you how amazing a found family can support and love each other.

But the best part of the book was that Ariel escaped her shell and came out as who she really is. I loved that she took time to reflect on what she wanted rather than going straight back. I love that she is an independent woman. I know I’ll never be part of a famous girl group (lack of talent) but I can aspire to ensure I am being my authentic self as Ariel took the leap to be.

I wizzed through this in less than 24 hours and it’s already my favourite book in the series. I’m not biased or anything 😉

I think this was my favorite book I acquired so far. As a lifelong little mermaid fan and especially on the coattails of the movie being such a huge success this is the perfect read! I’ll Ed the characters, writing, storyline and hope they make this into a movie as well. I kept picturing Hallev& Jonah throughout reading the book. New fans or old due yards for anything TLM are going to love it
