Because the conversation and people were so authentic, I became completely engrossed in them. The novel centres on Tabby, the protagonist, and spans a year, starting with a terrible incident that makes Tabby feel inadequate and guilty. Avery, her crazy, devoted sister, does everything in her power to make Tabby the carefree sister she used to be. The thoughts, feelings, and motives of the characters are revealed to the reader as they individually go on the always evolving path of life. The narrative revolves around forgiveness, flexibility, and ultimately, optimism. An excellent read for someone recently through a difficult split. The book has a good number of errors and repeated phrases, but they didn't detract from the amazing tale.
A heartwarming tale of grief, moving on and finding yourself again after a bad relationship. I loved Tabby’s characterisation and couldn’t help but feel for her. The Buchanans really were horrors to be around. I would really recommend.
Another compulsive read from an author who seems to do no wrong. I absolutely devoured this one… You will want to clear your afternoon to read this one straight through, so riveting. Loved when your gone and the forever gift and this was just as good.
this book was fantastic. full of emotion and character. I 100% would recommend to everyone. i just loved every minute of it. .
Memories of You is a story of grief, new beginnings, family, and following your own path. It's New Year's Eve and Tabitha Greenwood is driving through rain-soaked Dublin with her fiancé, Mark, on their way to a New Year’s Eve party. The next thing she knows, she is waking up in the hospital and Mark is dead. Tabby says nothing, but she knows it is her fault. Tabby is a pastry chef and is co-owner of a restaurant with Mark. With his death, he has left his share to his mother and Tabitha's nightmare begins. Tabby is haunted and filled with grief, until she finds out that he was in love with someone else. With the help of her sister, her sister's girlfriend, Scott, the new head chef that is hired and fired within a very short time, she tracks down the mystery woman. Tabby needs to decide what to do next, with her job and her private life.
Memories of You is set in Dublin, over a year. Tabby has always written monthly resolutions each year and after Mark's death, her sister, Avery gives her twelve resolutions to try and remember how to be happy. Avery is a wonderful sister. She moves in with Tabby and does everything she can to help her deal with her grief. She never liked Mark but supports Tabby in her feelings and grief. Tabby is a pushover. She has taken a lot over the years from Mark and his family, so I was glad she finally got a backbone later in the book. Tabby has a lot of growth in this book, helped by Avery and Scott. Mark's family are not very nice, none of them. They all look down on Tabby and treat her terribly. Brooke Harris has written a story that really pulled at my heartstrings. I loved her well developed characters and the journey that Tabby takes. A quiet story, one that is realistic and where I smiled as I finished it. This was the first book I have read by Brooke Harris, but I'm pretty sure it won't be the last.
Will tug on your heartstrings. So much emotional depth. You can not read this book with dry eyes. It tore at every possible emotion.
Memories of You by Brooke Harris is the story of pastry chef Tabitha Greenwood. Her life changes completely following a New Year's Eve car accident which kills her fiancé Mark, but she blames herself. After finding a bracelet in Mark's belongings inscribed to another woman, Tabitha has to decide whether to solve the mystery or not. Its an, at times, frustrating story but one that reminds me a little of Maeve Binchy's book Quentins.
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I enjoyed this very much, it was a well thought out story with characters which really developed during the book. I would recommend and read this author again.
A brilliant read. Had me hooked from the very first page!
When everyone is out celebrating the new year Tabby wakes up in hospital, she remember driving to a New Years Party with her fiancé Mark but where is he now. Her sister tells her that they had a crash on the way and that Mark is dead. When she goes back to work in the Bistro they owned she finds a braclet in a box from Mark but it wasn't for her, heartbroken Tabby makes it her misson to find the woman who's name Mark had engraved on the braclet. She is also following 12 resolutions one for each month.
The story begins with Tabby who lost Mark—her fiancé. Tabby felt so lost, so devastated, and so guilty to Mark. From here, a heartwarming journey begins..
It's about finding yourself, dealing with grief, the art of letting go, and the art of slowing down to enjoy the little things around you.
I really enjoyed reading this even though in the first half I felt a little bored, but this is the type of book that the more you read, the better it feels.
At first I thought that Avery was a little too excessive towards Tabby, on the other hand I also felt that Tabby was too much in her handling of her memories with Mark. But in the end, I like how brotherly the relationship between the two of them is.
Of course, even though Mark is deceased here, the writer managed to make me really annoyed with him. Especially the figure of Catherine—Mark's mother. Mother and child are basically the same as annoying at the top level.
Lastly, even though I don't really connect emotionally with Scott's character, I really respect him because he is always there when Tabby needs him.
Overall, I like it. I think this book is suitable for those of you who like heartwarming type books.
Okay, that's it.
It's been a couple of years since I last read a book by Brooke Harris and now I am wondering why because this book was just wonderful.
Memories of You is a well written and compelling read that has a cast of well drawn characters and a unique story line that I thoroughly enjoyed. It is a story of grief, self discovery and new beginnings.
Highly recommend!
Tabitha and her sister have had a lot of grief in their lives and although they are very different, they have stuck together. Tabitha wakes up on New years day to find herself in hospital after an accident. Her fiance, Mark did not make it. They not only lived together, but also ran a restaurant together. Tabitha returns to the restaurant to find that her overbearing future mother in law has taken Mark's place in managing the restaurant. Tabitha needs to come to terms, not only with her changed living and work circumstances, but also with a secret about the last car journey Mark and Tabitha made together.
I liked Tabitha and her sister very much and her sister's solutions to help Tabitha deal with her demons are unusual and give a structure to the book. Some of the characters seem a bit two dimensional at times though and the opportunities at times a bit too good to be true . Saying that the book is entertaining, with some food for thought and a light read. A mixture of emotions is explored and I always enjoy the Irish setting .This book definitely uses an Irish turn of speech.

A good thought provoking read that explores love, loss, grief, survivors guilt and so much more. A brilliant read that will have you laughing and crying
Tabitha’s fiancé dies. This is not a spoiler as it was in the blurb. I don’t want to say more because how Tabitha’s life continues over the unfolding year, was one of the best ‘self discovery’ novels I have read in a long time.
I am recommending this book to everyone.
It blew me away with the excellently believable characters and the well developed storyline.
Thanks for the opportunity to read this lovely book. Brooke Harris - Well done!
I loved the sisterhood element, with Avery determined to give Tabby 12 reasons to move forward with her life after Mark.
The gaslighting both by Mark and his mother makes this more than your standard chit lit romance and I found myself equal parts screaming at Mark and Catherine for being-well-Mark and Catherine and at Tabby for allowing Catherine to continue to trample roughshod over her feelings even after she finally pieces together the fact that the way Mark treats her is unacceptable..
Overall a good read, if you can get past the continued lack of self awareness and defense that Tabby shows!
This was a lovely book.
Tabby goes on a real journey of self-discovery. The characters are lovable and well written.
Well worth a read.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for my copy.
This was a lovely read from the author Brooke, I enjoyed this book, I loved the idea of Tabitha following her sisters 12 months of New Year’s resolution after the death of her fiancé. I felt like some of the resolutions could of been a little bit more creative as some of them were very predictable. Overall a lovely read where Tabitha could move on from her grief and focus on the future.
Fantastic book! Never expected so much emotion from one book. Never read anything from this author, I look forward to reading more.
Was a little predictable in places, but no different to any other book.
So glad to be given the chance to read, thank you
This was the first book I've read by this author and it definitely won't be my last. I loved the premise and the setting, and I thought the character development was spot on. I was very invested in Tabby and what happened to her. It's such an emotional read that kept me captivated. I can't wait to read more from Brooke Harris!
