An emotional rollercoaster, set in Dublin, what more could you ask for? This is an easy read and ticked all the boxes for me - your heartstrings will be tugged!
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
If you are looking for a fabulous beach holiday read this is book for you. Well-written with a plot that gets your emotions running. Recommended.
This book explores grief, finding yourself again after losing yourself for so long, and how your words can have a lasting impact on people. You can see how Avery, Becca (and later Scott) help Tabitha find herself again after trying to mold herself into something that she's not for years, and I find myself rooting for her to slowly step out of that mold (that did not fit her at all) one step at a time. The right people will always appreciate the real you.
This is my first book by this author and it definitely won’t be the last! This book was heartbreaking and an emotional roller coaster. Tabitha’s world is turned upside down on New Year’s Eve when her fiancé is killed on their way to a party. With her sister’s help and twelve resolutions, she fights her way through grief and betrayal to discover who she is and how to live her life through all of it. I cried so much while reading this book and my heart broke for Tabitha. This was an emotional and powerful read that will stay with me for a long time!
This was a great feel good read. It was well written, easy going and read within 2 days. I did however feel that Tabitha could have been a bit more emotional about what happened to her fiancé Mark. Her relationship with her sister was extremely heartwarming. Different people from all walks of life come into your life and what Tabitha felt for the bagel man was wonderful. It’s a great love story in the end, full of highs and lows, i am a sucker for a happy ever after. It was my first book by this author but wont be the last.
Thanks to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for allowing me an advanced copy to read in exchange for my open and honest review. As always, my reviews will also be posted on Amazon, Goodreads and Waterstones and interaction on Facebook and instagram where possible.
Disclosure: This book contains sensitive material. I wish the synopsis on all books had a similar statement - that the reader did not discover it upon reading.
Overall, I loved the storyline of Tabby (Tabitha) rediscovering herself. After a tragic loss, Tabby uncovers secrets that change the course of her life. Following a year of a new resolution each month (ones her sister wrote for her), Tabby finds herself and what makes her happy again.
A copy was provided for my review. All opinions are my own.
I really enjoyed this novel. It packed quite a punch at times and made me think about the different type of people who we deal with in our daily life. Some precious and some not so. The sisters and their resolutions were fun and quirky. These girls kept me turning the pages . A nice easy read to keep you company sitting by the pool.
This gentle, tender exploration of grief and personal growth was a very enjoyable read. It was impossible not to feel for Tabitha, whose awakening had only just begun when catastrophe struck and threatened to knock her off course.
The concept of taking a fresh resolution each month to change your life over the course of a year was an interesting one, and the secondary characters were well-drawn.
Thank you to Storm Publishing and NetGalley for my free ARC in exchange for an honest review.
How many of us make New Year’s resolutions on January 1st every year ? Yes quite a few of us but sticking to them is another thing altogether. One such person is Tabitha Greenwood who has been making resolutions for as long as she can remember. Tabitha makes 12 resolutions one for each month of the year. This year her first one for January is to get rid of someone who has been in her life for a while. Setting off on New Year’s Eve with her fiancé Mark things take a tragic turning and life changes for Tabitha. When Tabitha wakes up in hospital on New Year’s Day she is floored with grief and blames herself for what happened. As time goes on she realises that she wasn’t the only one in Marks life and she wonders whether to find this other person . Avery, Tabitha’s sister is determined to help Tabitha get her life back together and devises 12 resolutions and she gives Tabitha one every month for her to follow.
Brooke Harris is one of my absolute favourite authors. You know the ones where you don’t even read the blurb you just go grab the book. Of all the books I’ve read by this author never have I felt disappointed or let down they have all been outstanding reads and this one was no exception. I absolutely adored it from start to finish. It’s a wonderful story with some fabulous characters. I can’t recommend this fantastic emotional read highly enough.
Tabitha Greenwood starts the year with 12 New Year's Resolutions, but she never carried out all of them.
This year her first resolution was to break up with her long time fiancè, but it didn't go as she planned and her life has been completely turned upside down.
Tabby must go on and try to conquer all her resolutions in order to survive the hardest year of her life.
Memories of you was a very heartbreaking, emotional journey.
We follow Tabby during the year, and we can see her changes chapter after chapter. At the beginning it's really hard to read about her grief, but her sister helped her to accept her new life.
I loved the characters. Tabby's sister, Avery,on top of all. She is a force of nature, she never gave up and tried to help Tabby even when she resisted to every change to be stucked in the past. Tabby is a kind woman, at times too much and some people take advantage of her. It seems like her grief is less than that of the others, and she is almost scared to speak her mind most of the time. I've adored when she rediscovered her true self, pulled her life together and started to live for herself, being happy for real.
Brooke Harris wrote these characters very well, their flaws make them more real, relatable and endearing.
It was the first time I've read this author but it won't be the last.
I recommend to read this book, if you are not worried to shed some tears while reading.
Tabitha (Tabby) and Mark should be getting married, but instead Tabby ends up in hospital, her life changed forever, and just when she thinks it can’t get any worse, she makes a surprising discovery. Tabitha is as much a victim of mental abuse as she is an accident victim. No faith in herself, she can’t believe that she will ever re-discover her happiness. But with her sister, Averys help, she manages to move on. This is a really though provoking read, on grief, on how people cope in different ways, and want different things out of their pain. It’s an emotional read, but also very satisfying. I got a bit frustrated with Tabby at times, but ultimately enjoyed the characters, especially Avery, Rashidi and Scott. Recommended.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I didn't know what to expect with Memories of You but I was captivatedfrom the beginning. Tabby and her sister Avery have such a lovely bond and it made me wish I had a sister!
The 12 months and resolutions really tied the whole story together and it flowed seamlessly with poignantly moments throughout. A thoroughly lovely read and I have now downloaded another of her books to read.
This book was so good. I was not expecting such a tearjerker.
I loved the idea of 12 simple resolutions to help guide you back to your old self. I would definitely benefit from this.
Tabitha's character really surprised me. I was expecting a lot of drama but she's such a strong character. And her sister! WHAT A LOVELY WOMAN. The bond they have reminded me of the relationship I have with my sisters. Avery is the push the Tabby needed to help get her where she needed to go.
Grief is hard. No matter what and I think this book is a great reminder that we have what it takes to move forward. Yea is sucks, but we have people in our lives that make the suck a little less sucky.
The author writes so beautifully. I felt connected to the characters and their emotions.
I should also note that this was my first Irish fiction and I loved it!
This is the first book I have read by this author but will be looking for more for a good beach read.
Tabby and Mark are engaged and off to a New Year party but have an accident on the way and sadly Mark doesn't recover. Tabby blames herself for what she said to him seconds before the crash.
Even though we barely meet Mark, we know that he is cruel to Tabby in what he says to her (calls her fat, constantly putting her down) and that she is better off without him - maybe not in this way, of course.
Tabby continues to run their little bistro along with Catherine, Mark's mother, who it appears does not like Tabby or her sister Avery at all.
Tabby has great support from Avery and the story takes us through a year of Tabby's life following the accident where she is set 12 monthly new year resolutions by her sister.
A lovely enjoyable feelgood read.
This is a lovely easy although fairly emotional read. Tabby decides to make drastic changes to her life through new year resolutions which she usually doesn’t stick to, which unbeknownst to her will have a massive impact on her life and change it completely.
As Tabby works through her grief and resolutions, a new more confident Tabby starts to emerge.
Her sister, Avery, is a massive driving force in ensuring Tabby continues on her new path.
All in a great read about finding yourself.
A very moving and thought provoking read indeed, not my usual kind of read but am really glad chose it and was soon involved in Tabby’s world, her grief, emotions, shock and everything else she went through as she was faced with a real dilemma
Great heart wrenching writing and a book that was one of those that never expected to read but was drawn in and mesmerised by it
Imagine writing down the things you want to change in your life and within hours the first one comes true but in the worst possible way.
What follows is an exploration of guilt ,grief and the things that made the list necessary in the first place.
The number of emotions that you feel when you are reading this book are indescribable as the grief, the self doubt and evaluation are absorbed off the pages and at times you are frustrated by Tabbys journey and lack of self defence but are also fascinated by Averys ability to deconstruct the personalities within this book and defend her sister.
The twists and turns and unpredictability of this story are exceptional and once again Brooke Harris has produced a masterpiece.
This book really made me emotional. Sad and angry. And I am grateful that Mark died in that accident (this is not spoiler, in the description had been written if he would die).
Mark is jerk. I hate him so much. And Tabitha is stupid because wasting her energy for griefing Mark's loss. Oh, and I dislike Catherine too. She's kind of gossip mom who give comment without filter, just think for her feeling and ignore other's. Like mom like son.
Avery is a supportive sister, although she's kind of "loud" and eccentric person, she's so caring to Tabitha.
Scott and Rashidi's role here also warmed my heart :").
Although I am not a fan of angst story, I should admit it, this book has great narrations! The way author delivers about Tabitha's feeling reach me. It's a process of her self-discovery. I really recommend you if you want to read angsty story, it would made your feeling mixed.
Thank you Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the ARC!

What can I say other than absolutely brilliant. Such a wonderful story where from sadness, hope arises. The story of Tabithas journey is just wonderful. She really thought she had the perfect life until her world is turned upside down and realisation finally dawns. I couldn't put this book down and would love to see a sequel come from it . Another wonderful book from this author who never fails.
