Well we went back to Castleby and I am really glad we did. I forgot how much I missed some of the characters like Foxy, Doug, Maggie etc. I really thoroughly enjoyed the story but so much was happening, heartbreak, heart ache, new love and just so much drama.

What a good story, I loved the twists and turns throughout the book. I can't wait to see what else this author has written.

This is the second book I have read by this author. It is also the fourth book in 'The Castleby Series' series but can be read as a standalone. I have also read 'Sea Shaken' which is the third book in the series and I would highly recommend it!!!


This novel consists of a prologue and 37 chapters. The chapters are short in length so easy to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!


I absolutely love this book, the characters, the storyline and just absolutely everything about the stunning Castleby series!!! Congratulations Jo on another absolute stunning masterpiece


I may have only read one other book in this series (Sea Shaken) but the impact this series has had on me already makes it one of my favourite series ever!!! The location , characters, descriptions are all just absolutely perfect with Jo's evocative writing skills bringing absolutely everything and everyone to life right in front of the readers eyes!! This book is fantastically written and had me hooked from the first page until the last. The descriptions were so vivid and realistic I felt myself hearing the waves, smelling the sea air and sitting on the edge of my seat throughout. The storyline is packed with tension, suspense, crime, romance, fun, laughter, friendship, community and filled with twists and turns. I was absolutely shocked when everything was revealed and was not expecting it at all!!! A HUGE congratulations to Jo, it is getting harder and harder to shock me but you did it well!!! I also enjoyed the fact that everything was explained at the end as I hate loose ends and when something is mentioned or happens in a book and then is forgotten about. Jo has obviously done her research on police procedurals which is yet another bonus as I've read many crime novels where the authors make massive mistakes due to not doing enough research. The storyline is realistic and I absolutely LOVED the stunning atmosphere at Castleby!! There was so much going on in this book that it doesn't give you a minute to get bored, or able you to put the book down!!! I gave up counting how many times I told myself one more chapter just to HAVE to know what happened next as this happened over and over until I ended up devouring the whole book in one sitting!!!Jo manages to weave the story lines of all the characters romantic, criminal, stressful, fun and action packed lives together ensuring the reader can go from what one character is doing to another without any worry of confusion.


This may be the fourth book in the series but I had no problems reading it as a standalone. Any relationships, friendships and past cases mentioned are explained in just the right amount of detail so new readers of this gripping series understand what's happened previously but not too much that previous readers get bored by repetition. This is an absolutely unputdownable page turner and I cannot wait to read the previous and future books in what is promising to be an addictive series.


I love that there are so many amazing and colourful characters in Castleby and I became completely invested in each and every one of their lives in Sea Shaken and have absolutely loved meeting them all again along with many more new characters. I loved getting to know more about the previous ones as well as discovering all the new ones. When it came to previous characters ot was like embracing good friends and I enjoyed making new ones too, of course there was also a pinch of not so nice characters, thrown in but I am already missing the majority of them. I cannot wait to read the first two books in this absolutely amazing series as well as any more that come out!! The characters were all realistic and it was lovely to watch all the different relationships and friendships between different characters develop and grow. There was the perfect amount of romance sprinkled throughout to ensure some lighthearted moments in between the crime and darker times. It is an addictive book filled with romance, murder, drugs, crime, mystery, suspense and absolutely everything you could ask for in a stunning pageturner! "Thriller" is a genre that promises to keep readers on the edge of their seats, and this definitely delivers. From the very first page, the tension is palpable, and the plot twists and turns in unexpected ways, making it difficult to put the book down. These books are great stories which are set by the sea, with a cast of characters that continue to develop through each book. Good storylines and great writing with twists and turns throughout, this book hooked me from the beginning and kept me reading! Highly recommended.

The blurb begins “One tragic death. Five people know the truth. Who is to blame?” That intrigued me and made me want to read this book, but in reality, that tragic death was not the main element of the book.

I felt there were far too many different stories crammed in and so I didn’t then care for any of them as they weren’t developed as the book just moved on to another one. This may be different for readers who have read the first three books in the series, but unfortunately, as a stand-alone book, it didn’t work for me.

The fictional seaside town of Castleby has a community vibe that indicates it’s a very small town where most people know each other and look out for each other.

As each character is introduced, we discover that pretty much everyone has a close friend or relative who has very recently died. This tiny place is plagued with death!

Anna’s husband
Jenny’s brother
Will’s best mate
Archie the dog’s owner
Thankfully, Jude saved Marcus, after a close call!

I did like most of the characters and thinning out the multitude of storylines could make this so much better, in my view.

This is the fourth in the Castleby Series. I was happy to read this book as I am so invested in the characters that they feel like family friends. The story is a delightful mix of characters, their back stories and locations. There are plenty of plot twists and turns to keep you reading until you finish! It's a fast-paced and entertaining story. There are moments of emotion throughout the book but then there are moments of good natured fun! I will be recommending this book. Roll on book 5 so I can up with the Castleby friends!!
