Definitely my favourite book of the series (this was my second reading of this novel!)! I loved reading about the characters whose lives perfectly reflect the historical side of those times. Even though I know quite a bit about the Middle Ages, I still learned a few more details! I particularly enjoyed the fact that the characters belong to all social classes enabling a good insight into what it was like to live then. Highly recommended!

The sequel to The Pillars of the Earth is even longer than the first book but just as engaging. Same setting, different characters. Together they cover a hefty amount of time, and it's a bliss to read about the historical happenings of Europe through the lives of the characters. This epic tale is worth reading - it's a bestselling novel, not without a reason.
