Christmas books can often be a bit twee but A December to Remember was just right. It has a great band of characters - it's really not hard to visualise the likes of Augustus and his shop - and I really liked the concept of three summer sisters, all with their own distinct personalities and woes. Rowan Thorp is a great setting and you really get a good grasp of the different businesses and inhabitants. There's a real sense of community throughout the plot and although it can feel a little overly-idyllic at times, it is Christmas after all! The growth of the three protagonists and their journey was really enjoyable although I do think the book could have done with being a tad shorter. Overall a great, cosy festive read that is perfect for December.
Very enjoyable read, a book that I devoured in almost one sitting.. Three sisters haunted by the past...brought together again by their fathers death. Reunited by loss , memories and struggling to cope with present
Highly recommend.
What a great and easy read. Loved all the characters, each with their own issues but how they come together. Would definitely recommend this book.
An utterly wonderful book. Heartwarming, funny, and full of magic. Loved every sentence of it and very much wished I was drinking it with a glass of wassail.
A really fun and charming read with an enjoyable premise and gorgeous characters. I would highly recommend.
Really charming story, gorgeous setting, very well written, flowed well, great characters that i could really connect too, and it was a lovely read.
Jenny Bayliss is a fairly new author for me but nevertheless she is becoming one of my favourites a perfect Christmas romance with lot’s of drama thrown in
This was not the Christmas book I was expecting but I enjoyed it nonetheless.
Bayliss touched on and dealt with a number of different issues in a considered way, including surrogacy, blended families and grief.
I didn't feel particularly Christmassy whilst reading A December to Remember, but I enjoyed the story and there wasn't one sister's story that I liked more than the other, which is quite unusual.
This was a quick easy read and I am glad I read it.
What a magical book! The perfect festive read to curl up with this winter. The story of the North sisters coming together with the help of their local community was heartwarming along with their own romantic journeys along the way.
I loved this book and found it a really good read. When their father dies, the three North sisters, each with a different mother, have to come together to locate his will. He had an odd curiosity shop which they must search to find clues. They need to work together and stop quarrelling.
A perfect Christmas read with wonderful characters.
Lovely lovely lovely
What a gorgeous winter book. Perfectly festive, glorious to snuggle up with a mince pie and hot chocolate. Such a treat. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange for an honest review.
Heartwarming but, it felt rushed to me. Liked the characters. Utterly, the book seemed to finish very quickly. I enjoy Johnny's books usually but, this one wasn't as good. My thanks to netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
A December to Remember is a heartwarming family story. It did take me a little while to get into it but once I did I enjoyed it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for my ARC.
I really liked the concept of this book and bringing families back together, i liked the characters and the way it was written, for me it felt like a novella that had been padded with characters saying the same thing over and over, it spoilt the enjoyment of what could have been a lovely "quick" read.
Have to admit the cover really got me when I saw the book - just looked like such a cosy read and it really was! Loved the book. Unusual to not have a main romance story but this is more about bringing families together.
Really cosy and cute, very heartwarming and perfect for the holiday season! I always enjoy stories about family dynamics, and particularly sisters.
I loved the title of this book and hoped it would as good as it sounded. In fact, it was amazing. A lovely, cosy read for those autumn nights. Thank you for the ARC.
I really enjoyed this. I could read festive books all year round but at this time of year they are extra special for me. I'm glad I chose this one as one of my festive reads.
I love the bringing together of family, it's heartwarming and special despite it being for a sad reason, it's also relatable. All families have issues so this feels quite real.
I love the intrigue of Augustine's life and his way of getting his girls together.
A perfect winter romcom. Loved this one and made me feel good about this time of the year. 4 stars
Thanks to Netgalley, authore and publisher for this ARC
A cozy christmas read that started my christmas 2023 with a warm hug. Not too complicated or high-brow, just perfect for what it is. A lovely cover design as well
