As a first experience with Ready's work, "The Space Between" was a solid introduction. Andi and Jace's insta-love story starts out as YA and moves through a series of life lessons, losses, heartache, and happy endings. As someone who doesn't typically read YA, I felt like the author did a good job with their storylines at that point in the book. It's what happens next that gives me pause to give the book 5 stars.
As deeply in love as Andi and Jace are, I often found the chemistry lacking between them. To say they were obsessed with each other is an understatement, which didn't really give away to a true love vibe. I do think as their story progressed, I found myself championing for each of them: the rich high society girl and the down out, gutter rat boy.
When things go wrong for the young lovers, Andi heads back to New York, where she creates a friendship and life with an unlikely person: Reid. Reid is from Andi and Jace's past and while life hasn't given him the wins he wanted; he has grown into a man that provides Andi with a safe place to belong.
What unfolds is a tearjerker of a story, a lesson in forgiveness, and a beautiful HEA. I had issues with some of the drama in this book. I found it to be hard to buy some of the B plots. This one is THICCCC (over 500 pages) so be prepared to spend a lot of time with these characters. With that being said, I binged the book in 2 days, was brought to tears a few times, and absolutely loved Andi and Reid's storyline.
The love between Andi and Jace began when they were seventeen. He was a boy from a hard life of grief and poverty. The music of his family was his saving grace. She was a girl of riches, a driven father, and absence of love. They love and live and are broken apart.
A beautiful story of true love over the years of togetherness and of separation and hurt, a never ending and enduring love.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Andi comes from the upper east and Jace comes from the south Bronx. They grew up in two vastly different worlds yet find each other in the space between. Against the odds stacked against them; family dynamics, false truths, heartbreak and betrayal, they continue to find their way back to each other again and again.
I have absolutely no words to describe how beautifully, gutwrenching this book was. The writing was so well crafted and felt magical at times; there were points I just stopped and looked at my wall in awe. The author created the most wonderful MCs and I loved the dual point of view because I was able to see both worlds. Sarah Ready managed to write the best contemporary romance novel I’ve literally ever read and The Space Between is now one of my favourites. This book is an easy five stars.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Sarah ready does it again! Be prepared for this emotional rollercoaster ride and grab the tissues. From the moment Andrea met Jace she knew it was going to be forever.
I received this book from NetGalley for an honest review. Thank you!
The Space Between by Sarah Ready is such a beautiful love story between two different people who meet on a fateful day and feel in love at first sight. I love this beautiful love story because it showed how two people should love and learn to forgive and move forward if they want to be together. No resentments, just love, respect, and a yearning to be together again.
Jace and Andrea meet one day in Central Park, and they know that they will be together for the rest of their lives, and they will sacrifice anything to be together. Their love isn't understood by their families, but that isn't important for them because they know the truth about their love and what they want from their life.
They were happy until one night, and they changed their life forever. They were separate, but their love didn't die. When they were reunited again, they felt their love, they gave each other forgiveness and they decided to be together again forever.
This book is about an epic love story, forgiveness, family, and redemption. I recommend The Scape Between to every romance reader and everyone who wants to read about an epic love story.
For anyone that loves a good heart-warming contemporary romance, this is the book for you. The two main characters, Jace and Andi come from two totally different worlds. One has experienced loss and devastation of parents and is being raised by siblings while the other, is from a very wealthy, important family. No matter their backgrounds, from their first meeting, a relationship evolved. However, it is not all sunshine and roses. Before they know it, they are torn apart. Will they reconnect? What will happen to each of them as they live their lives? This book is told in multiple points of view: Jace’s and Andi’s. This book touches on loss, grief, love, family, and deceit. This was an emotional read. Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the advance review copy in exchange for my honest review.
I listened to an ALC of this book.
The Space Between was such an emotional book. The first few chapters were when the main characters met and were in their teens. I was lost to the book after chapter either. Jace and Andrea are separated by their social standings, but only one of them knows for the first part of the book. Their friendship quickly turns into more and we watch them grow together.
I liked how the author separated the book into three parts. It made a clear cut when they had moved to a different part in their lives. There were parts in the ending that seemed unrealistic, but maybe it is realistic for really rich people? Overall, this book was what an emotionally-needy person wants.
I will recommend this book to anyone who asks for a book recommendation, regardless of their favorite genre.
Thank you for allowing me an ALC of this book, in exchange for an honest review. I cannot wait to purchase a physical copy.
This is a wonderful instalove story that takes you over a couple decades that proves that no matter what love wins. This story has many ups and downs, with twists that twists your heart. Sarah Ready takes you through the paces but brings you a beautiful story of love, hope, and happily ever after. This reminds you that although love is not always linear, love does win.
I really wanted to like this one. I heard great things about the authors previous release and had fomo so I grabbed this one, only to learn later this was a divergence from her typical style. I read about 30% and honestly just don’t feel like anything even happened and didn’t care about the characters enough to find out what might happen.
I loved this book!! It tore my heart in half then put it back together again!! It was little bit slow to start but once it got going, I was crazy hooked! This book was well written with amazing conflict and deep emotion. Andi and Jace are one of my favorite Sarah Ready couples. This author is a hidden gem. Every romance reader should know about her books. I read this book AND listened to it in audio. The audiobook female narrator was amazing. I struggled a little bit with the male narrator. When he read the book he lacked emotion but it wasn’t anything that kept me from listening. Huge thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for allowing me to read/listen and review this wonderful book.
I began reading and thought oh it’s instalove but it’s justified & very uplifting. But then lies and betrayal get involved and my emotions plunged down. I did not anticipate the emotional roller coaster I would experience. The best kind of book you cannot correctly predict what happens next. The writing is phenomenal, I was throughly engaged and clutching at my heart with all the twists and turns. Two beautifully written characters, Jace and Andi. I just wanted the best for them.
Sarah Ready delighted me with her Josh and Gemma series, swept me off my feet with French Holiday and absolutely stole my heart with The Space Between. I absolutely fell in love with Jace and Andi. It isn’t a story of all roses, in fact, it’s packed with heartache as each has to deal with the emotional turmoil that life’s circumstances has dealt them (themes around the death of a parent, drug overdose, bullying, mental illness, parental abuse, cancer/death, socioeconomic struggles), but through it all we keep coming back to Jace and Andi and the love they share, and somehow despite challenges thrown their way, you can’t help but want to cheer them on each time they find each other again. . Their chemistry is palpable and the emotional heartache they endured moving.
This is the forth book I’ve read by this author, both in the past month, and I really have enjoyed her writing style. I look forward to reading more.
A hearty thank you to NetGalley and W.W. Crown / Independent Book Publishers for the opportunity to preview an advance digital copy of this fantastic story that is due to publish 25-July-2023. This is my honest review and the opinions expressed are my own.
I really enjoy Sarah Ready’s writing style and continued to enjoy it throughout this book. The story itself did not capture me as much as some of her previous books. Although it was emotional at times, I found parts of the book to be a little too predictable.
What I enjoyed about this book:
- I always enjoy a NYC setting
- I enjoyed the long timeframe that took place throughout the story. Teens to adults.
- I loved how the author was able to get the reader to have empathy for some of the more flawed characters.
What didn’t work for me:
- I don’t enjoy the miscommunication trope
-I never enjoy when the two main love interests are apart for a long length of time.
Overall, I did enjoy this book but think it would be better suited for someone who loves more of an emotional rollercoaster type book.
3.5 stars/5
Thank you #NetGalley & W.W. Crown for an ARC copy and the chance to give my honest review. I first fell in love with Sarah when I stumbled upon Josh & Gemma--it was a such a cute fun rom com that I added the author to my TBR list. I was then so excited to get both the ebook and audio of The Space Between. Ended up reading it via ebook only as it worked better with my work schedule. This book, while not what I initially expected was just what I needed. Sarah gave me all the feels. Jace and Andi compliment eachother so well. And just when you think you have it all figured out and you want to perhaps hate a character or two--nope..maybe not...wait a minute...what just happened... Then when the reason for the title becomes apparent I was all in. The author also gave me two twists I didn't see coming which is always a plus for me. This is a wonderful story that explores Love and the many different facets it can encompass and face through the years.
I was NOT expecting this book to be so good! This was so different from French Holiday, which was my first book by Sarah Ready, and I truly loved them both so much and so differently. The Space Between was absolutely heartbreaking in the very best way. Andrea and Jace were such lovable characters, despite their flaws. The family scenes and band scenes with Jace's family were just so heartwarming and I loved watching their relationships evolve and change. Andrea's family was an entirely different dynamic and I feel like both were so well written! This was written well, I was hooked by the storyline and the characters had great depth. I laughed, I cried, I couldn't put it down!
There were a couple steamier scenes, but the could easily be skipped if you prefer a closed door romance.
I switched between the audiobook and the ebook and truly loved both. The narrators were perfectly cast and they did a great job of displaying the emotions from the book.
5 stars-- Love!
Thanks to Netgalley, Sarah Ready and the publisher for the chance to read and review this early. all opinions are mine
I love Sarah Ready’s books and writing style so I knew I was going to love this one. But, I wasn’t prepared for the emotional roller coaster Jace and Andrea’s story took me on! It broke my heart and ripped it clear out of my chest! Yes, it put it back together but it was quite the journey! Andrea is from a wealthy family and Jace is an orphaned musician. This story spans throughout about fifteen years and is beautifully written. I absolutely loved Jace’s brothers and would love more of them! There is so much character growth, not only from our main characters, but also the side characters. This book pulled me in from the beginning and I couldn’t stop reading! It is pretty long but I feel it is needed for the whole story. It never felt too long for me. I absolutely loved Jace and Andrea and even though their story was heartbreaking at times, it is also beautifully told. I can’t wait to read more from this author!
This is a story that takes place in the space of 14 years of longing, heartbreak, first love, loss, death, adolescence, adulthood, maturity, and the act of fate.
Our heroine Andrea (Andi) Leighton-Hughes is a very rich young girl at the age of 18 years old. As Leighton-Hughes she had to always live by the rules of society. However, Andrea lives a somehow double life when she dresses like a normal girl and sits around Central Park, and that is where fate brings her to Jace.
Jace Morgan is a normal boy from a normal family who grew up surrounded by love and music. As a family, they were a music band and they couldn't be happier despite their poor status. One day, The 3 brothers lost both of their parents and all is left is their band and the promise to make it big and fulfill their parent's dreams.
So when Jace meets Andrea an instant connection is formed and somehow both of them knew they were their each other soulmates.
However, life has a different saying on the matter and them being together is not easy as it seems.
I loved this book so much and what made the reading experience way better is that I read and listened to the audiobook simultaneously🤩 Although I'm not a big fan of audiobooks this one was perfect, the narrators did an excellent job with it.
There were so many emotional parts I cried which doesn't happen often and that means I was deeply affected. The storyline was surprising every time I predict something a twist comes and leaves me speechless.
I could talk about it for hrs and it won't be enough. So I will just say, this is Sarah's best work yet and a MUST read😉.
Thank you to the publisher and @netgalley for granting me an ARC of #TheSpaceBetween in exchange for my honest review.
Xoxo
I was not ready for this book. I was on edge for about the first 40% of it. It's so beautiful and heartwarming and sweet that I was just waiting for something bad to happen. I was still shocked by the betrayal. The way this story plays out is so unique to the romance genre and I loved it! There is some insta-love which I'm usually not a big fan of, but it's such a great story that I'm good with it. Andi is such an amazing character, I loved every minute of her development. It's romantic and magical but still realistic with the complications the characters are handling. I've read a few other books by Sarah Ready. Josh and Gemma Make a Baby has always been my favorite but now it's this one. It's most definitely also going in my Top Ten Reads of this year. If you are a romance reader, READ THIS BOOK!

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest opinion.
I really wanted to like this book because of its unique premise and reviews. However, the author’s lack of first hand experience in living in NYC was very disappointing for me. It was also too YA for me.
Dozens of details are just wrong. I cannot recommend this book.
3 stars
Jace and Andi's story was engaging and entertaining, but plagued with misunderstandings and miscommunication. We follow them through their initial meeting as teenagers from very different social classes until adulthood. It's an instant connection for Jace and Andi and at first, they believe they can weather any storm together, but of course life never goes as planned.
We get to see Jace and Andi fall in love, lose each other, and reconnect after eight years before falling apart one final time. They do get their happy ending, but the road there is more than a bit bumpy. I did enjoy their story but I felt Jace and Andi were a bit quick to forgive those who conspired to keep them apart. A lot of their later misunderstandings could also have been resolved a lot sooner had they just communicated more effectively.
The Space Between us was a roller coaster of a story full of ups and downs, time jumps, and angsty goodness with a happy ending. Basically, you're going to suffer, but you're going to be happy about it.
