This is my first Alice Feeney book, and I can honestly say, it definitely won't he my last. I'd heard good things about this author and everything was true.
Good Bad Girl is a very well written story about 2 crimes that are somehow linked. A snatched baby and a murder in a care home. It was a definite page turner. I simply couldn't put it down. It took me 24 hours to read and I'm disappointed it's finished. It was simply that good. I'd recommend this to anyone. No matter what genre you like. Just read it!

I must say Alice Feeney never disappoints. Her trademark is writing thrillers with the mother of all twists.
And gosh, her latest novel had me clinging to the edge of my couch as I waited for my head to stop spinning.
If you’re an armchair-detective like me, let me give you some advice. Don’t even try to solve the mystery, you’ll only waste your time. Just let @alicewriterland take you for a ride and blindside you with red herrings along the way.
This is an all-feminine mother-to-daughter story and I absolutely loved it. The first chapter is titled The End, and immediately has you reeling with the impact of it.
A 6-month old child is abducted from her stroller in a supermarket and before you know it it’s 20 years later and we are introduced to the characters.
Edith is an old woman with a dry wit staying in a care home she hates. Then there is Patience, the young girl who works there and has taken a shine to Edith.
Next we have Frankie, a librarian with a fixation for numbers who is working in a women’s prison and desperately looking for her missing daughter.
And last but not least we have Clio, a middle aged woman living in a pink house. She has lost her whole family and seems to blame her elderly mother for everything that has gone wrong in her life.
Then…. someone is murdered.
How are these women connected? Well, you’ll have to find out by reading the book. I assure you, you will not put it down till you’ve read the last page!
Thanks to #netgalley and #panmacmillan for sending me this amazing ARC!

A baby is taken from her pram in the supermarket, we don’t know who the mother or child is. 20 years later a woman is murdered in a care home. With the mystery of the murder to be solved and three suspects in mind, we follow the story of four women on their journey to be good people who do bad things. Is the missing baby linked to the murder?
At first I was so confused as to what was going on and who was who, but once I grasped it I was hooked I could not put the book down. I was constantly writing notes and guessing how the book was going to end and I did guess most of it but then bam I was hit by a twist.
I love Feeney’s writing style she is exceptional at keeping your mind ticking with theories. With the book split into chapters for each character (Patience, Edith, Clio and Frankie) this adds more depth and gives the reader more knowledge. Patience and Edith’s little relationship was so cute, however, I didn’t care much for Clio or Frankie.
This was such a compelling read, it’s a must for all the mystery domestic thriller lovers out there.

The queen of the plot twist returns for another rollercoaster of a book where you're never quite sure what's going on or why you're being told things until it hits you smack in the face! Unlike previous books by Alice Feeney, this one is a slower burn but no less twisty for it.
The book explores motherhood from a few different angles and toys with the idea that no one person is wholly good or bad, There's 4 characters but don't even bother to try and work out how they're all connected, just go along for the ride! The chapters alternate between the characters so it can take a while for you to see what's going on and how their stories link beyond the theme of motherhood, Stick with it though, once it gets going it really draws you in.
Another fantastic story from Alice Feeney and I can't wait to read her next book. 4.5/5 purely as it took a while to get going.
Thanks to Netgalley for a free copy in return for an honest review,

I really really loved daisy darker so was very excited to see another Alice Feeney. This wasn't as good as daisy darker but I still very much enjoyed! A group of suspected strangers flipping to and fro in time and not knowing which era we maybe in, and just how the group were linked...A great page turner that kept me reading and a set of characters who were really quite a good mix of damaged, suspicious and just plain weird....!

Thanks to Pan McMillan and Netgalley for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This is a story about 4 seemingly unconnected female characters ranging from 18-80 and all of them are either lying about something or at the very least not being completely truthful about who they are or their motives. The story eventually uncovers how they are all connected.
This was a good book that held my attention, but I found it to be a little too easy to figure out. I was waiting for a big shock and there were some twists and turns and some things I didn't see coming, but not the huge shocks that I am used to from this author. So this wasn't a bad book at all, I think the bar was set so high with some of her previous novels and this one was a little less shocking. I still look forward to her next offering.

Good Bad Girl sees four women narrate the story of a missing baby and a murdered care home manager.
I was initially confused how the main plot of the murder ties into the cold-case search for the missing baby. However, the short punchy chapters kept me going, and as I read, the twists kept coming. Alice Feeney cleverly weaves the plots together to deliver to tell a story that balances dark themes with light moments to portray the complicated relationships between mothers and daughters.

A baby is taken from her pram when in a supermarket. Twenty years later there is a murder in a care home for the elderly. Three people are suspected, but what is the story?
I really enjoyed reading this thriller, with its twists and turns.
I thought the image picture drawings at the start of each chapter was a fab idea, knowing instantly who was telling that part of the story. Peppered with inspirational thoughts, I loved how they were slid in, and enjoyed making my interpretations of the words.
I totally enjoyed reading this book.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.

Alice Feeney doesn't disappoint.
A great read with twists and turns that kept me guessing until the end! Some things were guessable but not everything, a refreshing change to read something with unpredictable aspects.
A family relationship dynamic that will resonate and have you scratching your head in equal measure.
Big thanks to the publisher and netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Good Bad Girl
Ooh this book was interesting!! I’ve read a few of Alice Feeney’s books now and I love the twisty nature of them and trying to guess what’s going to happen. In this story I managed to guess a couple but was way off with some of the others.
In this book we have a selection of great female characters - Edith a former detective (a store detective but it still counts) who lives in a care home, Frankie, a mysterious prison librarian, Clio a therapist with more than a few issues of her own and Patience - a member of staff at Edith’s care home.
When a murder occurs in the care home - these 4 women find themselves at the top of Detective Chapman’s list of suspects. I found myself racing to put the pieces of this puzzle together which is exactly what you want from a book like this - it kept me turning the pages and got me through a flight with two small children which is no mean feat. Loved it. 4 stars.
Sometimes good people do bad things.

I absolutely loved how confused I was the whole time I was reading this. Even until the last chapter I was like what?! Although I am still left with questions like… what was the speech Frankie had prepared for Clio in the first place!

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC!
I'm a big fan of Alice Feeney's work but unfortunately, for me, this book was a miss. I just couldn't get into it and was getting confused with all of the different characters perspectives. I felt like the story was really slow and took ages to get going and I was just bored by the halfway point. Sorry!!! I love some of Alice's other books, but this one just didn't click with me. You might love it though!

'Twenty years after a baby is stolen from her push-chair, a woman is murdered in a care home. The two crimes are somehow linked, and a good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth. '
Alice Feeney has a unique writing style - her characters are really dark, original and utterly unbelievable. This book had a bit of a Lisa Jewell vibe which is a huge compliment from me! I love Alice's books. The three female characters draw you in and the book moves at a fast pace and I couldn't put it down, desperately trying to work out how they were related and who was behind the murders and kidnapping.
I highly recommend all of Alice Feeney's books - she is such an original writer and one of my favourites.

This was an absolutely gripping read that I read in a day as I couldn't put it down. With a cast of intriguing characters who kept me guessing, this was pacy with plenty of twists. The characters were well drawn, and my sympathies kept switching as more was revealed. This was a very cleverly written book, with multiple perspectives giving different viewpoints as the story developed. This was a tense, insightful read and highly recommended. Thanks to Pan Macmillan and NetGalley for the opportunity to read.

Read this is one sitting as I had to try and work out what was going on! Was confused and intrigued how the story would unfold and did not guess that ending at all.
I’ve enjoyed this author’s previous books and this did not disappoint.
Thank you for the advanced copy and would definitely recommend.

If I were to sum up 'Good Bad Girl' in one word, I'd probably call it a big, fat, fudging tease.
How does the disappearance of a baby even remotely connect to a murder in a care home twenty years later? Eighty year old Edith is an unwilling resident in said care home, Clio is her daughter, Patience works at the care home and has bonded with Edith, and then there's Frankie. What is the invisible link that ties these women together?
It's no secret from the book blurb that these characters are all connected somehow. But trying to figure out how seemed like an impossible task, even with the wee breadcrumbs that were thrown my way in pretty much every chapter. Then when the "how" was revealed, the "why" turned into its own little mystery to solve. And that one definitely kept me guessing.
Solving the murder in the care home and the riddle of "three suspects, two murders, and one victim" isn't the be-all and end-all of this tale though. There's remarkable psychological insight into the actions and thoughts of this cast of characters. How did they turn into this version of themselves that they don't recognise? What happened to make them who they are today? What secrets are they hiding and why?
But it's also about relationships between mothers and daughters. All the highs and the lows, the good and the bad, the misinterpreted good intentions, and how all of it influences our lives. These relationships are often complicated and messy. Nobody is ever perfect, even if you'd like them to be. We are all flawed. And there are also always two sides to every story.
The short and snappy chapters, the different points-of-view, and the desperate need to know what was going on turned 'Good Bad Girl' into quite the enjoyable read for me. If you're familiar with Alice Feeney's books, then you know to expect plenty of twists, turns and red herrings. I mean, sure, maybe the whole thing is a little bit out there, a little bit too much, a little bit far-fetched. I didn't care one bit. Trying to make the pieces of this puzzle fit together kept me entertained for hours. It may not be as dark as this author's previous books, or as thrilling, but for me, it was the perfect escapism on a dreary, wet day.

The book's sincere and heartfelt style had me eagerly turning the pages, fully engrossed in the characters' lives and the unfolding narrative.
The characters felt so real, with emotions that deeply resonated with me. I found myself fully invested in their journey, cheering for their successes, and feeling empathy for their struggles.
What impressed me the most was the book's ability to evoke a wide range of emotions without relying on complicated plots or unnecessary drama.
Talking about the book with fellow readers further intensified my enthusiasm for it. We exchanged thoughts and had meaningful discussions, uncovering the book's themes and messages.
In a world filled with complex stories, this book stood out with its simplicity, delivering an authentic and captivating experience that left me in awe.
When I reached the final page, I felt a profound sense of satisfaction and wonder. The impact of its passionate storytelling stayed with me, leaving a lasting impression.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I’m grateful I was given the opportunity to read this book early thanks to @netgalley
I think all of Alice’s books I’ve either read or have on my TBR so I knew this would be a must-read for me! The concept of the book definitely drew me in and I wasn’t let down by the book when I got stuck in!!
There are a lot of twists within the book and while some of them you start to untangle the further into the book you get, I was still left surprised by the way the plot turned out in the end! There were plenty of shockers and it stayed fast paced all the way through! I was worried that it might get confusing following quite a few different characters and each of their POV’s but I think each of them were written well enough that it wasn’t an issue!

I loved this. I was hooked from the beginning. The plot is intriguing and twisty. A total page turner that I managed to get through in just a couple of days. The characters are all likeable and interesting with believable back stories. The beginning may seem a little slow as the characters are established but it’s definitely worth the wait. The writing is brilliant and easy to follow. I will definitely be adding Alice Feeney to my list of must buy authors.

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney
I was so thrilled the receive an ARC for Alice Feeneys latest book. Thank you Netgalley and Pan Macmillan. Having loved Rock Paper Scissors I thought I would be in for another suspense filled, action packed twisted novel that kept me on the edge of the seat.
Sadly, this is not that. It’s much more of a mystery, bordering on ‘cosy crime’ which just isn’t my thing. I mean I am one of the only people in the world who DNF’d Thursday Murder Club as I found it intolerable!
While fiction books are meant to have a huge amount of artistic licence, this storyline was just not credible at all and the plot and background was trying to be twisty but just came across as muddled and in the end while I had already guessed basically what was going on, I no longer cared. It’s a story about family, one that should have tugged a little at my heartstrings, but nobody was likeable and it was just too far fetched.
I am giving it 3 Stars as I take responsibility for believing it was a thriller and therefore can’t moan when it isn’t because I haven’t done my research. I also think it’s well written in some aspects and those that like this kind of thing will probably enjoy it.
I’m disappointed but I will read other books of hers as I know she writes a great thriller.
