This is the 3rd Alice Feeney book I have read and she always delivers. The story is told from 4 points of view Patience, Edith, Frankie and Clio all strong female characters. Three suspects two murders one victim and a big secret! A great read for any lover if thrillers.

This was a slow book- it wasn’t gripping but it kept my attention. There were no major twists. I have fond memories of this author’s previous books but this is easily forgettable.

Loved, loved, loved this. Alice Feeney has done it again. Another twisty, compelling and dark read from her This one is slightly less dark than her previous ones. I found the characters likeable, in contrast to Feeney’s usually acerbic and bitter protagonists whose head is so messy and delicious that you can’t look away like a train wreck. But the way Feeney has structured the novel cutting through the story with short chapters and ping-ponging between characters, I was just completely hooked and intrigued to see where the story was going and how these lives will be tied up together.
The story opens with a prologue. A woman and her baby in a supermarket. Whilst the woman’s back is turned her baby is taken.
Cut to now we follow four female characters:
- Edith is in a residential care home. Her house has been sold by her children with whom she has a complicated relationship. She’s not happy there and she’s convinced someone killed her friend May.
- Patience is young and in need of money. She works at the residential care home until she’s fired by the horrible manager Joy.
- Clio is Edith’s daughter and she can’t afford to pay the fees for the care home. She goes to meet Joy, who is simply lacking in empathy and gives Clio an ultimatum.
- Then there’s Frankie, whose teenage daughter is missing.
The plot kicks into action when Joy is found dead. One victim, two murders and three suspects. But what’s the second murder and who are the suspects forms the crux of this twisty read which has lots of red herrings and plenty of suspense and shocking moments. I was just hooked and wanted to read this in one go. It’s set over two-three days, which gives the pace momentum and escalates the stakes. In the end the novel explores of themes of mothers and daughter and how complicated this relationship is. It’s raw at times and completely relatable. I found Edith to be a fascinating character. At times she does border on as the stereotypical granny with her obsession with cups of tea and custard creams. But her character growth, especially her relationship with Clio, was so heartbreaking to read and it really came full circle. In the end I felt really moved. This Feeney at her best, and I can’t recommend it enough.

This is a good, solid mystery. It is a quiet one though, so if you're expecting drama and gasping plot twists, then you will be disappointed.

The puzzle pieces took a very long time to start falling into place. For the first half, I kept wondering what the point of this story was.

The twists that are in here are very predictable.

However, the story still kept me glued and I was interested in seeing how it all unfolded. It's a well written story of relationships and how they all intertwine.

Woo Hoo what a read my head was all over the place trying to guess what twist was coming next because believe me this one will have you guessing throughout.
So the story is told from the perspective of Frankie, Patience, Cleo and Edith who all have secrets and also a story to tell and I really enjoyed the way the book was written as little by little the stories unfolded.
What I really liked about the story was that I loved all the main characters and so wanted to know who and what they were and how if at all they would come together and this what kept me glued to the kindle desperately wanting to know how this would all end up. So as I came to the end of the book and thought everything had been revealed then completely out of the blue came another massive twist and that was what made this book a 5 star read for me it was a superb story and extremely well thought out. Many thanks to Alice Feeney for an amazing read it really is one not to be missed.
My thanks also to NetGalley and Pan Macmillan for giving me the opportunity to read the ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Good Bad Girl opens with a baby stolen from its buggy in the supermarket, and what follows is a compelling story with all the usual Alice Feeney twists, surprises and red herrings.

It took me a little longer to get into this story than Feeney's previous novels, which are usually propulsive from the first page - but I think the characterisation is richer in Good Bad Girl than in, say, Rock Paper Scissors, so it was worth it in the long run. Feeney is so good at tricking the reader and drawing you in! A fun and clever read.

Thank you to #NetGalley for my advanced digital copy of #GoodBadGirl.

“Sometimes bad things happen to good people, so good people have to do bad things”

Twenty years ago a baby was stolen in a supermarket and now a woman has been murdered in a care home, and somehow these two crimes are connected. “A good bad girl may be the key to discovering the truth”

Alice Feeney is one of my favourite authors, I’ve read all her books and this one did not disappoint! We’re following four different povs; Edith, Clio, Patience and Frankie. Edith is currently unhappily living in a care home, put there by her daughter Clio who is a physiologist working from her pink home. Patience is currently working at the care home, after running away from home and her mother Frankie, and bonds with Edith. The real question is how are these women all connected?

This book is full of lies, domestic drama, many twists as Alice does so well, but also family connections and friendships. There is representation of postpartum depression and shows motherhood is it’s many forms, which is what makes the book carry more emotion.

A twisted mystery drama that kept me engrossed to the last page. More a story about a disrupted and fractured family than a crime thriller, Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the arc.

Alice Feeney does it again. She is such a consistently good writer, whose thrillers always deliver on being gripping, and twisty just like Lisa Jewell and CL Taylor.
I don’t want to say too much about this because the less you know, the more unexpected and enjoyable you’ll find this wild rollercoaster ride. It follows four women, whose lives intersect in unimaginable ways over a few days in London. You have Edith, who is in a care home placed there by her daughter Clio. And then there’s Frankie whose daughter has left her. And there’s Patience working as a care assistant and friend of Edith. The story takes place over a few days. It’s tautly structured and such a page turner. The characters are relatable and engaging. Feeney knocks it out of the park.

Good Bad Girl by Alice Feeney is her sixth book and it is again predictably full of twists and turns and is an extremely clever storyline. Not all authors can turn a story upside down and inside out, those who can are all very talented storytellers like Alice Feeney.
In Good Girl Bad you have to look at the residents of a care home, an art gallery, a pink house and a barge called Black Sheep because the people who live and work in those places are all part of the story. I enjoyed reading this book as I have others by Alice Feeney and look forward to reading any other books the author may come to write in the future.
Highly recommended

Thank you to NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

This was another excellent story from this author. This particular one made me feel it was more of a family drama than murder mystery. But I loved it regardless.

We have a few characters who all link together somehow. We have Edith, her daughter Clio, and Frankie and her daughter. And it all leads back to a baby being snatched 20 years ago. The story pulled together really well, and we read from each characters perspectives, so we see how the jigsaw fits together.
My favourite character was Edith for her humour, but the story also showed flaws in characters, and the fact that no one is perfect.

The author deals with some tricky subjects, especially post natal depression and the difficult relationships that happen within families.

Another excellent read from this author that I’d love to recommend.

I really enjoyed this book! I look forward to reading other books by this author. There were so many twists in this book I didn’t see coming. But then again I rarely can figure books out. I would definitely recommend this book!

How is your relationship with your mother? Chances are, you'll feel better about it by the time you've finished this book! I love Alice Feeney's writing and she always gets me with her twists, so I was really looked forward to this book.

I liked it but I didn't love it. I spent the first half of the book being completely confused but that's not new - I was the same for Sometimes I Lie and in that case it was worth it. Then in the second half of this book, I found that as much as I was entertained by the book, the plot became a little far fetched and it made me disconnect from the book. I did really enjoy the little snippets of humour, most of which were delivered by Edith. I definitely think the Detective deserves a book of her own. Once again, I didn't see the twist coming, you got me again Alice Feeney!

It's a book you'll likely enjoy if domestic thrillers and mysteries are your go to books, but it's not as tightly woven or exceptional as her other books.

Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

Rating: 4.5/5

Alice Feeney has become one of those (relatively few) authors whose work I not only thoroughly enjoy, but whose skill I also greatly admire. She also manages produce standalone novels that are markedly different from one another, rather than falling into the potential trap of following a successful, but perceptible formula. "Good Bad Girl" is another superbly constructed story, but has less dark thriller elements than some of the author's previous work. It is essentially a domestic drama, but with a multitude of cleverly handled plot developments as the story unfolds.

The narrative is told from the perspectives of the four key protagonists. The characterisation is impressive and although it takes a little while to feel comfortably familiar with each of the central players they do become very well-rounded and fully fleshed and credible. This well-executed characterisation means that the author is is able to incorporate some delightfully humorous interchanges between the characters at various points, which demonstrates nice use of light and shade in amongst the growing intrigue and tension of the central plot thread.

You will certainly need to keep your wits about you as you read this novel. The unexpected developments keep on coming and coming. Just when you think that you have pretty much sussed out what is going on, so another blindsiding disclosure takes you unawares. But there are no underhand dealings on the part of the writer - the clues are all there, but tucked away amongst the subtle misdirection. I also thoroughly enjoyed the way that Alice Feeney closed a number of the chapters. When you read of lot of books from this genre, you become somewhat tired of reading the same old hackneyed and melodramatic chapter endings. However, here the author uses several deliciously mischievous ones, which makes for a welcome and refreshing change.

"Good Bad Girl" is yet another hugely enjoyable book from Alice Feeney that works wonderfully well on a variety of levels. This author doesn't always deliver the novel that I anticipate reading when I start one of her books, but that is no bad thing and I always enjoy the voyage of discovery. This one was no exception and I will, of course, be back again for her next offering too.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for supplying an ARC in return for an honest review.

Alice Feeney is my fave psychological author, so I was looking forward to reading this! I expected this to be a very twisty one like her other books, but this is actually more like domestic thriller / murder mystery. I didn’t know that, so I kept waiting for a big twist that makes my eyes fo wide. But it didn’t come… it was the most predictable thriller by her I have read. It’s not a bad book. I liked that it focused on motherhood. Just not what I expected from the author. 3/3.5 ⭐️

I have always enjoyed Alice’s writing style and twisty, unpredictable stories.

This is a story about mothers and their children, specifically daughters, and their choices and regrets that flow onto the next generation, which in turn influence their choices and behaviour etc etc. You get the idea. But Alice has entwined these insights into a cleverly constructed mystery full of surprises around every corner.

A wonderful page turner I can highly recommend.

Wow, what a fantastic read. Told from the view point of four very different women, from different generations, exploring motherhood and its many high and lows.

I always enjoy Alice Feeney and this didn't disappoint! Intriguing, with great characters, a great book.

DNF at 30%

Unfortunately I need to stop reading books by this author. The Facebook-esque cliché quotes every few sentences absolutely kills me off and I just can't read any more.

It's a shame as the story seemed quite interesting and I liked the characters, I just couldn't cope with the live laugh love quotes.
