Great addition to the series. Orion is hiding. Violet falls for him before she finds out his secret.
Another good installment about after the Fall. I loved the two alphas in this story. I enjoyed the different paranormals and how they work together to keep their territory safe from vampires. It’s well developed with a great storyline and the characters have depth that enrich the story. I have loved all of Katie Reus's books because of her writing style and world building. Ancient Guardian didn't let me down. I think Orion is my favoirte shifter so far I love dragons. If you love Katie Reus's books this one won't let you down.
This book takes you on a rollercoaster journey and you will be addicted right from the first page until the last one and you will not be able to put this book down and it will have you turning the pages while on the edge of your seat keeping you completely hooked and it will also keep your attention throughout. I definitely recommend you read this book and others in this amazing series and you will not be disappointed.
Really enjoyed this exciting and engaging adventure. Highly entertaining, fun filled, emotional journey filled with witty banter, secrets, dangerous twists, unwilling alliances and so many fun and intriguing charters.
ANCIENT GUARDIAN by Katie Reus. Once again, Ms. Reus has written a tale that kept me entertained throughout. There is danger. There is love. There is family. What more can a girl ask for! I adored Orion - he is such an alpha dragon! And Violet is so caring and loving towards her clan, yet can still take care of herself. I enjoy dragon paranormal romances and this one is a keeper!
I can't get enough of the Ancients Rising world! Ancient Guardian is #9 in the series. Orion was so sweet and protective not only of Violet but their entire community. Loved the connections with the old characters from past books in the series and the introduction of new. I'm always left eagerly anticipating how the overall story of this world is going to play out next.

I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy of Ancient Guardian.
I really enjoyed reading this story . Alpha dragon shifter Orion awoke from hibernation. He found a different world from before his hibernation. The world is struggling to survive since The Fall . Orion is living among humans and secretly keeping them safe . He has fallen in love with violet but is afraid to show her his true self . When a bigger threat threatens their community Orion must step up and claim the territory and the women he loves . This story is action packed and intriguing . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
I had my fingers crossed, when I saw the cover of Ancient Guardian on Netgalley. I really hoped it would be about Christian and Alex. But alas, Katie takes us outside of King’s territory (from Ancient Protector).
A small community just outside of New Orleans is the stage for this book. Orion, one of the Ancient dragons has been living among them undercover. Ever since his awakening, he hasn’t found out who to trust and who not.
But he does know that the feisty big sister valet, is the one for him. However, he can’t have her, but second-best is keeping her safe. As always, Katie knows how to spin the story to keep it interesting. And of course, there are some characters from other parts popping up.
Prima is one of them, and we finally get some more insight into her. Hopefully she will get her HEA too. Orion and Violet are an awesome couple and the characters of Violet’s sisters are a great addition to the series. Especially Mari. She is awesome! I hope to see more of her in the next books in the series!
As usual, five out of five stars from me and a special thank you to Netgalley for providing the arc.
I have always loved this author from the first book I picked up . This book did not disappoint me. IT was a great read and will continue to read more.
Ancient Guardian by Katie Reus is the ninth book in her Ancients Rising series. As the author states, this book can be read as a standalone and there is both an HEA and no cliffhanger. While it is true that you can indeed read this one as a standalone, I only recommend it if the idea of reading the other eight books first is daunting for you.
If you read this book first, you can absolutely follow and enjoy the characters and the story and you'll be able to infer the bits of the story that are carryovers from the other books. I do think that your reading experience will lack some depth and detail, but I also think that it will inspire you to read the entire series.
Ancient Guardian was a fairly quick read for me and I had trouble putting it down so that I could get some sleep. It is a post-apocalyptic paranormal romance, and OMG there are panda shifters! This story isn't about the panda shifters, it's about Orion, a dragon shifter, and Violet, a delightful human doctor. There are challenges and hard decisions, a plot that is extremely sound and a spice level that makes sense (I give it about a 3 out of 5.) The only thing that I really wasn't a fan of was the POV during those spicy scenes. I'm a fan of first person POV for spicy scenes instead of an omni POV, but it didn't keep me from really enjoying the entire book.

This is Orion and Violet's story. It picks up after the previous edition. Orion is keeping a secret from her and those in their community. There are some familiar characters from the previous books in the series. However, this can be read as a standalone. This book and the series will keep you engaged for hours.
I liked where we are going with this book. I don't love deception plots but this one is understandable and it does clear up fairly easily. Obviously, it wasn't going to hold out for long.
The couple is good. A little push and pull but again, they figure it out. I would like it if we weren't grouping so many smaller pairings, but I guess if there isn't a story, there just isn't one.
I really want to smack Prima around and get her head right. I've been waiting for her to get herself together for a long time and she seems to only be getting worse.
Get your hands on a copy of ANCIENT GUARDIAN and enjoy the danger, the drama, the fun, the steamy and sweet romances, and everything in between that Katie Reus brings so vividly to life

These books do the impossible -make me addicted to a post-apocalyptic series. I thought I had determined what I liked, but this series has happily pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Orion is the ancient dragon that this story revolves around. He’s been woken up and thrown into a world he doesn’t recognize. He does, however, have a strong pull towards Violet. Violet and her sisters have pulled together their rather remote hometown to survive in this new post-dragon world. Living largely off the grid pre-dragons, they did still need to adapt a bit to thrive here. Orion ends up getting pseudo-adopted by the sisters, playing a largely hidden role in their security.
Orion is actively hiding his supernatural nature when we join them in this book. He’s got other shifters that are all keeping the security of the town with him, all hiding, but nobody is ready to “come out” just yet. An intrusion from outside their borders in the form of a possible alliance forces them to show their hand and deal with the potential fallout. After tip-toeing around their feelings for one another, it adds even more complexity to Orion and Violet’s relationship. The other sisters, however, appear to eagerly embrace the supernatural discoveries in sexy ways. There’s a big bad and a big battle, but the interpersonal relationship definitely take center stage in this one. That’s what makes these books so fun to read!
Ohhhh another great read! Orion upon awakening from his hibernation, observes one of the most beautiful women he has ever seen, but how to approach her without scaring her. Inlet and her sisters found there way back to each other after the fall. Together the created a community. Orion just there community and becomes 1 of them. But he has a secret, a secret that could threaten all of them.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
I love this series so much; it has provided me with many hours of enjoyment. Although each book can be read as a stand-alone, the series as a whole is definitely worth the time, and I recommend reading all of them. The setting is fantastic and draws you in and I sometimes find myself thinking of what it would be like if there were really shifters like this.
This particular story is Orion's and Violet's book. Orion is an ancient dragon shifter. And oh, how I love me some dragons. Violet is a doctor, she is awesome. I love these characters so much and enjoyed their journey which takes the reader through so many different emotions. I also really enjoyed the supporting cast as I do in all of these books. It's always nice to see some old faces as well. This is just a really great story that is also amazingly written and brings the characters to life on the pages.

This was an excellent addition to this series. I loved the story of Orion, dragon shifter, and Violet, a human doctor. They have know each other for a while and are both reluctant to act on their mutual attraction. There is danger, suspense, betrayal, love, and sexy situations. This story is a standalone but I think it’s better to read the whole series. I was given an arc from net galley but this is my honest review.
This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.
I am always excited when I see a new book in this series coming out! This book moves away from New Orleans and out to the "wilderness" that the group has been looking into.
Here we meet Violet and her sisters as they try to keep their group safe after the Fall. Unknown to them, they had some shifters in their group who were helping protect them from the vampires that kept coming into their territory.
One of the shifters is Orion who is a dragon shifter that is really the alpha of the group. He and Violet have been dancing around each other for a year and neither admits to the attraction.
When King's group arrives to talk about an alliance, we see Prima and some of the others coming into the story. With the new alliance and the vampires, there is never a dull moment as we continue to watch Orion and Violet until they get closer to admitting their attraction.
Kind of a mystery of Violet's sister, Mari (who does not like to be called Marigold), and what she did before the Fall, and why Prima is leaving King's group. Hope that we see more of these two in the future and learn their secrets!
