Quick read, but super insta-lovey. No development time and I'm not a fan of that. Nobody in real life falls in love that fast.....sorry.....Very unrealistic.
I do like that this read quickly
Thanks, Elewyn Publishing, for the arc!
Sometimes, you need a silly rom-com to make you happy, and that is exactly what MY BILLIONAIRE FAKE BOYFRIEND is. I honestly could see this book play out as a cute movie, except I’m not sure how exactly that would work with the number and variety of dogs. But I would love to see it!
I usually don’t read books with dogs in them because I can’t handle it if anything happens to animals, especially dogs. We did have a moment in this book, but everything was okay, and it’s marked SAFE for animal lovers.
Now I need to move to the beach with my dog and make sure it’s next to a single movie star so this story can happen to me!
2.5 stars:
Didn't love this. The timeline felt too short and took me out of the book because it felt too unrealistic. Was cute, and short, and quick to read but the timeline issue frustrated me through the book as it all took place within a few weeks from what I could tell.
Although I know that it could work for others if that doesn't bother them.
I loved reading "My Billionaire Fake Boyfriend" by Jennifer St. James. It's a fun romance about a dog lover and a fake relationship that turns real. The characters are great, and the story is full of humour and heart.
I'm absolutely thrilled to have had the opportunity to read "My Billionaire Fake Boyfriend" by Jennifer St. James, courtesy of Net Galley, and I'm still reeling from the experience. As a dog lover and a sucker for a good romance, this book was the perfect combination of my favorite things.
Maisie, the protagonist, is a pet photographer with a heart of gold and a passion for rescuing elderly shelter dogs. Her dedication to her work and her compassion for those in need are truly inspiring, and I found myself falling in love with her charming personality and genuine spirit.
The story begins when Maisie's charitable TikTok video featuring her rescue dogs goes viral, and she's approached by Brad Zander, a wealthy actor who wants to help her with her charity work. What starts as a fake relationship to boost Maisie's social media presence soon turns into something more real as they spend more time together, navigating the challenges of their staged romance.
I was completely swept up in the world of Malibu Beach, California, and the star-studded cast of characters that inhabit it. Maisie's interactions with Brad are electric, and their banter is witty and engaging. The supporting characters add depth and humor to the story, from Maisie's quirky friends to Brad's eccentric family members.
What really sets this book apart is its thoughtful exploration of themes such as authenticity, self-discovery, and the pressure to conform to societal expectations. Maisie and Brad's journey is relatable and thought-provoking, making it easy to become invested in their happiness.
The writing is superb, with a perfect blend of humor, heartwarming moments, and romantic tension. The pacing is seamless, moving effortlessly between laugh-out-loud moments and poignant scenes that will tug at your heartstrings.
In short, "My Billionaire Fake Boyfriend" is a masterclass in romance writing. It's a delightful read that will leave you feeling uplifted and inspired. If you're a fan of romance novels or just looking for a feel-good story, this is an absolute must-read. I'm already counting down the days until the next book in the series!
While the female mc is basically living my dreams, this was a very par for the course romance. It was predictable but fun.
What a blast this book was fun from start to finish. I haven’t read from this offer before but will definitely be going back as the writing style and the way that they built the characters up was really well done. I haven’t read a book with quite as developed characters as this one and it made the story so much more enjoyable.
This was cute & honestly i feel like the senior doggos saved the entire book for me.
I felt the characters were extremely face value and didn’t have any depth to them at all. I absolutely hated Brad. I just felt like he was such a conceited person and i hoped there would be some growth in his character to save him but he seemed to always be that way.
I couldn’t connect with the FMC and unfortunately when you can’t connect you don’t cheer for the MCs and cuz of that i couldn’t fall in love with the story.
The side characters honestly were annoying. Overall i feel like the idea was cute and it was very textbook fake dating, but just didn’t hit the mark for me.
Good story that was an easy read. It was a good weekend book and really did not need a full focus to follow along with the plot.
What a delight!
A well written, unputdownable romance.
Maisie is the heroine, living for a good cause in an inherited ramshackle house.
Brad is the uber cool movie star neighbour. A couple of random meetings and a viral
selfie gradually turn into more and more.
Fabulous, funny read. Absolutely perfect!
Fake dating is one of my favorite tropes, but I really didn't like the breakup in the third act.
The main characters had a great connection, and I didn't like that the author made them somewhat part ways.
I love any book with dogs but this book is HOT. It's achingly swoon worthy, slow building romance is built up by much anticipation.
When Maisies dogs run into movie star Brad she doesn't realize how much her life will change.
It was decent. Everything happened to fast though.
From the heart-skipping romance to moments of self-discovery, this book was simultaneously full of fun and life yet also incredibly thought-provoking and entertaining.
I received a free copy of this book from the Author, Publisher, NetGalley for my honest review. This was my first book from JEnnifer St. James. I really enjoyed it. A dual point of view of a sweet pet photographer and an asshole actor. Can their meet-cute help them both?
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to review My Billionaire Fake Boyfriend by Jennifer St. James.
This was my first book from Jennifer St. James. I wasn't a huge fan of the book and I thought it was just okay.
A really fun and charming read with an enjoyable premise and gorgeous characters. I would highly recommend.
Maisie, a struggling pet photographer dealing with her grandparents' debt, seizes an opportunity for publicity when her billionaire neighbor, Brad, unintentionally features in her promo. They decide to fake a relationship to boost Brad's Hollywood image. As they stage outings, the boundary between fake and real feelings blurs. Despite genuine emotions, their differing backgrounds and Brad's quest to prove himself in Hollywood create challenges. Maisie doubts if she can be what Brad needs in his pursuit of success.
Brad and Maisie exhibited fantastic chemistry, and witnessing their interactions was thoroughly enjoyable. The narrative was delightful and endearing, providing excellent entertainment. It skillfully blended romance and humor, maintaining my engagement and interest from start to finish. Overall, it was a charming tale that I'm pleased to have experienced
A really good book , different than what I usually read but really loved this book , great characters and fab story from start to finish with loads of humour and lots of laugh out loud moments with lots of great dog stories and characters to make it a must read. Would really highly recommend this book as a brilliant easy enjoyable read.
This is a first time read for me by this author and I found it to be a delightful and enjoyable read. Maisie is a pet photographer and she is struggling a bit since she inherited her grandparents' debt. Her billionaire next door neighbor, Brad, unintentionally appears in one of her promos, and she decides to use that as an opportunity to create some much needed publicity for herself, making it seem like they were an item. Brad is trying to make it in Hollywood, but doesn't have a great reputation. His agent convinces him he could use the fake relationship implied by Maisis's video to create some positive buzz for himself. They begin to stage outings together, but the more time they spend together, the lines between fake and real begin to blur. Real feelings start to develop, but they come from completely different worlds. Brad comes from old money and is trying to prove he can make it in Hollywood. Maisie has a more humble background and she doesn't think she can be what Brad needs to make his way in Hollywood.
The story was light-hearted and cute and very entertaining. It had a nice balance of romance and humor and kept me engaged and interested all the way through. Brad and Maisie had great chemistry and I enjoyed seeing them together. A charming story that I am glad to have had the opportunity to read.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
