Loved My Temptation! Henley James is another sexy alpha to add to T.L Swan’s collection! Loved the banter between Henley and Juliet and the fact that she stood her ground when she had to and as much as he was bossy and demanding there was a softer side hiding underneath the tough exterior that Juliet helped to bring out. Would highly recommend
Juliet Drinkwater and Henley James have amazing chemistry and end up in bed together. Henley promises to call but bails. 3 years later Juliet movies into the new neighborhood of Kingston Lane and meets her new neighbor, Henley James. Will they be able to be civil or will they remain mortal enemies?
This is book 1 in The Kingston Lane Series.
The writing was great. TL Swan knows how to put a story together that puts you right into the scenes.
I enjoyed the sass between Juliet and Henley. Henley gave me whiplash. He made me angry, swoony, sad, and then excited. I loved Juliet’s strength and stability. You saw character growth in both main characters.
I literally hate that I’m writing this. The book was moving along so well. I had such high hopes. But I didn’t enjoy the last 10-15 pages of the book. I feel as if it was rushed to wrap things up. I wanted more out of the ending before the epilogue. I feel you missed out on a lot of growth in the characters and it was just over.
For me this would’ve been 4 stars if we would’ve gotten more of the story prior to the epilogue. It honestly ruined a bit of the story for me.
I still really enjoyed the storyline and will be looking forward to reading the second book in the series and finding out who it’s about.
I’d like to thank TL Swan for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Themes:
* Fake dating
* Broken MMC
* One night stand
* Enemies to lovers
Okay so, first things first: is this a freaking play about me?
No, well, it could definitely be, since I (still) am 27, have a dog, and work for a retirement house, even if in administration and not as a nurse… I mean, it could totally be, couldn’t it? (Man, do I wish!)
On a more serious note, though, this book was amazing, with some things I could have really done without, and maybe not one of my favourites, but a good one nonetheless.
I quite liked Juliet, she was funny and she was the one who definitely fell first and harder, meanwhile, Henley was the scared one. Comprehensible, given his history, although I really would have loved to see more from his POV, especially toward the end - and in general, okay, because I do love seeing a man opening up to love.
I believe the thing I loved the most about Juliet was how tenacious she was when she fought for Henley, something he sometimes didn’t deserve, mostly because of his actions - come on, the other woman drama was fun to a point, he was a total asshole and not in the way romance readers love, you know? There’s a fine difference between charming asshole and total asshole, and Henley, my boy, you ended up being the latter. This is one of the reasons why I would’ve loved more from his perspective, an insight into his growth, let’s call it so.
All in all, it was a good and fun read, you get to know more characters and get invested in their stories, which you get some hints about, a pair in particular - and will we maybe get a MFM or a reverse harem, too? Ha! Perhaps it’s too much to ask, but it’d be fun! Oh, it reminds me that when they move in together, there’ll still be a house vacant in Kingston Lane, where can I send my application?!
This book is the start of a new series. It begins with a one night situation and swerves in the direction of an enemies-to-lovers romance. Henley James is one buttoned-up, high class hottie with serious control issues and an icy heart, or so it appears. Fast forward a few years and Juliet buys the big house next door to Henley. She is artfully restoring it. Let the fireworks begin. Henley is not at all what he seems, and rarely lets anyone in. The push and pull in the book and the chemistry between these two was fireworks! TL Swan can write some "class A" spice! It was fun to get to know an entirely new cast of characters. The neighbors are a soap opera in and of themselves. I loved reading this book and I'm looking forward to more in this series! Henley and Juliet are electric! 4 stars! 3 spice emojis
4.25 stars! Thank you so much to TL Swan for the ARC of My Temptation. If there’s one thing Tee has perfected, it’s the tortured alpha male asshole.
As a huge fan of the Miles High and Mr series, I was excited to jump back into one of TL’s worlds and Kingston Lane will live rent free in my head forever. I am incredibly excited to see where the rest of the series goes and I’m already pulling for some couples to form 😆 The street and cast of characters that she’s created are second to none.
I laughed, I cried, I got so frustrated with Henley that I had to get up and take a walk. This book has it all!
What would you do if you bought your first house and your new neighbor was the best date and sex of your life who also ghosted you 3 years ago?
Juliet and Henley both find themselves in this situation. She hates him because of the hurt she felt due to his indifference. He hates her because he’s scared of what she’s making him feel.
But no matter how hard they try to hate each other, they just can’t. And I was HERE for EVERY SECOND of it! I can’t wait to experience in audio now!
The sexual tension is high but they have to sneak around because the cul-de-sac they live on has nosey neighbors.
Nobody writes men who don’t ever want to get married then fall irrevocably in love like T.L. Swan!

I am very torn on this book. I wish that I could just write my thoughts instead of giving a rating, or I wish I could give .5 stars... because my rating is actually a 3.5. However, I am going to round up to 4 because the writing was just so damn good.
TL Swan is one of my very favorite authors. I have met her once at a book signing, and she is genuinely a kind, generous person. Truly one of the best people I have ever met. That's why this review is so hard for me.
So here are my thoughts....
Here are the things I LOVED:
1. The spice. It was chefs kiss as always from TL.
2. I loved the chemistry between Juliet and Henley. It was off the charts.
3. The setup for the rest of the series was done SO well. When you read it, you'll know what I mean. I truly cared about the side characters in this book, which is good, since the rest of the books in the series will be about them.
4. Barry!! (the dog. and no, you don't need to worry. nothing bad happens to him).
5. The way TL connected us to Henley (no spoilers) - how she made us see that he was truly a man with a good heart. I loved that.
Now, onto the parts I wasn't the biggest fan of, but I have to be honest about:
1. I did not connect very well with Juliet, the FMC. I thought she was childish, whiny, and extremely pushy at times. I also felt that her inner monologue had some....issues, for lack of a better word. For example, she is very judgmental of others at times and that bothered me about a woman who is close to 30. A teenager? Okay, I could understand. But a woman who is a whole-ass nurse? Ehhh, I wasn't crazy about that.
Also, I felt that she took WAY too much sh*t from Henley, who I will get into in just a minute. While I completely understood, more than you might realize, why he did the things he did, it didn't give him an excuse to treat her that way. She let him off the hook far too easily, in my opinion.
2. Don't get me wrong. I LOVED Henley. He was a complex character (more so than Juliet, I thought), and I understood why he behaved the way he did. BUT...I had a problem with the way he handled some things, especially making things right with Juliet after the horrific things he said to her.
I KNOW that EVERYONE handles trauma differently. Please trust me. I know that from personal experience. And I am not counting off "points" for her character not handling it the way I would. We all make different choices and that is okay. But for the sake of a romance novel (that is not a dark romance novel where I tend to let more things slide)...gah, Henley was just SO MEAN at times that it was very close to unforgivable. He said some of the harshest, cruelest things to her without even batting an eye. And then she just forgave him without a PROPER GROVEL!?!??!!? Nooooo. Could not be me.
3. The secretary plot showing up at, what, 90%? Why? It was just unnecessary drama...which brings me to the other thing...it really was just too much drama. Just boom, boom, boom. TOO MUCH.
4. Oh, and this is just...me, maybe...but...the use of the word "creamy" in a sexy scene...yikes.
5. Speaking of words - there are a few words used in this book that hit me the wrong way. BUT... I am an American, and upon speaking to some friends who know Aussie slang (TL is Australian), I think it's a cultural difference that I am just not used to. So I am not going to take that into consideration in my rating at this time.
ALL that to say...the writing was still excellent because it's TL Swan and she knows how to write the hell out of a book. So I can't give it less than 3.5 and I always round up if it's .5 or .75. So here we are...and of course I will read the rest of the series because I just...I have to know what happens.
Tee's books always make me giddy to ready them....this one, the start of a new series is no different! I adored this book...one night stand turned to enemies to lovers with forced proximity... YES PLEASE.
The banter between the two characters is unmatched, and of COURSE the side characters are all fabulous. I truly cannot wait to read the rest of the books in this series when they are released.
I started this book deep in a slump I was a little worried even though Tee is a comfort author for me.
Can I just say this book did NOT disappoint?? I am rejuvenated with so much excitement to read more!!
These characters (not just Henley and Juliet) but all the supporting characters.
My heart broke and was put together piece by piece.
I truly cannot WAIT for more.
Well I love Kingston Lane and all the residents. I’m so excited for this new world.
While I loved the world building, I don’t know if I’ve ever been on such a rollercoaster ride of feelings toward a character before. Henley James is a lot. I loved him and despised him in the same chapter at times. It was a bit tough for me to see past his negative qualities in those moments too.
Juliet is a likable character and I did enjoy her storyline a lot. She stands up for herself and brings out the best in Henley when he isn’t being a brat.
Excited to see whose story is next out of the residents on Kingston Lane.
There’s something so comforting about reading a TL Swan book. She always makes me laugh, gives me a new book boyfriend, and creates a fun cast of characters. I can tell just from the first book that the Kingston Lane series is going to be yet another favorite.
Henley James is a beautifully broken hero, flawed in many ways but somehow also absolutely perfect. He’s obviously super hot (I mean, Tee wrote him, so he has to be 🤣), but he’s completely damaged & closed off to love.
Juliet is kind of *crazy girl* vibes. She’s a little desperate for love, but she’s also tough, sarcastic, and pretty hilarious. Her inner monologues had me laughing hysterically, as did her nicknames for Taryn & her attitude towards Carol (who, though mostly well-intentioned, is a huge pain in the you-know-what)!
Henley & Juliet were explosive from the start, their chemistry was incredible. All of the neighbors & side characters had interesting little tidbits & storylines, and I can’t wait to see who’s next!
I absolutely loved this book.
I’m a big fan of Ms. Swans. And enjoy reading her stories.
They are an absolute pleasure. And My Temptation was no expectation.
Wonderful characters and interesting plot. Along with hilarious moments and serious ones.
A complete and perfect balance. The book was also sexy and spicy.
I adored both Henley and Juliet. They were an absolute delight.
I loved their banter and their conversations.
And their sexual chemistry was off the charts and sizzling hot.
While they may seem to be what you see is what you get. They are not.
They have complexity and layers to them.
I completely fell in love with them and was rooting for them from the very start.
Their journey is long and hard fought. But rewarding and heartwarming.
An inspiring and beautiful HEA ❤️
I’m so excited and looking forward to more to come from Kingston Lane!
OMG! This book is absolutely amazing. TL Swan has yet again written an AMAZING book. I really don't think this is anything like she's written before. It was so freaking good and I devoured it!
Loved this. TL Swan is one of my favourite authors, I was so excited to get this ARC! I was not disappointed. I loved the whole concept of this story line - Henley and Juliet go on an amazing date but end off on bad terms and don’t see each other again until 3 years later when they are next door neighbours 😬
I loved seeing Henleys growth throughout the book. I also loved all the side characters and BARRY!
TL Swan writes some of my favourite mmc’s 🥵 I cannot wait to see who comes next in the Kingston Lane series!! So many possibilities 😍
5⭐️ 4🌶️
Eeek this book was amazing and I expected as much being as who the phenomenal author was but man she really outdid herself with this book. 5 stars does not begin to express how good this book truly was. Henley has got to be one of my favorite MCs of all time. The mouth on that man 🥵 Whew had to fan myself plenty of times throughout this book. Juliet was such a fierce FMC she didn’t take crap from anyone. I love the banter that Henley and Juliet had going. And the s*xual tension in here was top tier 🤌🏼 My heart broke so many times for Henley and the things he continued to struggle with. I just wanted to climb into the book and hold him 🥺 As always this book was full of so many scenes that had me cracking up with laughter. And that ending was so perfect. I couldn’t get enough of this book. It’s definitely in my top favorite reads. I highly recommend it!!
I love TL Swan and her writing so much and this book was no exception. Her writing is engaging and grabs you from the start! I love how this book started between the MMC and the FMC and I was so curious to how their disaster was going to play out! It had a great enemies to friends with benefits to lovers. The MMC had a broken man playboy afraid of commitment persona about him due to his past. And the FMC wanted to show him he was capable of love. I felt the chemistry and connection between the FMC and the MMC and it felt natural and real. Their banter was also amazing and made me laugh so much.
However the third act breakup, which felt needed and realistic, happened and the MMC said some horrible things to the FMC and I felt like he hardly apologized and didn’t grovel and the FMC completely forgave him and took him back. There was NO grovel and this story needed it in my opinion. The ending also had a plot point in there that felt thrown in and rushed and the ending was very abruptly ended. This was not my favorite TL book but the writing was amazing as also and I can’t wait to read the other books in the series.
Thank you to the author for an early copy of this book for my honest opinion
Fighting your feelings is the most difficult battle ever...
I was excited to hear that TL Swan was creating a new world for us to read. Henley James and Juliet Drinkwater immediately won me over. Henley is deliciously naughty, sexy but also an alpha hole to boot. The two of them are a 5-alarm blaze together. It was torture to watch Henley navigate and process feelings he never experienced before. He refused to give into them, until he couldn't.
Juliet was steadfast and determined to see it through. I am not sure I could be that committed. If you crave angst, spice, humor and passion, this story is for you. I look forward to discovering which couple in this neighborhood will hook up next. If the next book is anything like this was, I will definitely be one happy camper.
Ok. This book frustrated me as I wanted to devour it. I also wanted to drag it out and stay in this world for as long as possible.
Henley and Juliet are just beautiful. Their friendship group is amazing. Just think all of your favourite Tee characters mixed up and thrown into a new series. An absolute must read. I won't lie there were a few times I wanted to throat punch Henley but there are some great laugh out loud moments. I can't wait for in this series. Its going to be fire
4.5 ⭑
I forgot how addictive TL Swan’s books are! This was a book I never wanted to put down. Every page had me giddy, swooning, or on the verge of tears for our main characters.
This book is made for the girlies that LOVE an emotionally unavailable tortured hero that is so unbelievably in love with the FMC and just doesn’t know what to do with himself. Add in the the fact these two are neighbors and have a complicated past…. color me FERAL for this story.
This was spicy, angsty, funny, and an amazing start to what I know will be a fantastic series.
TL Swan never disappoints! What an awesome start to a series I'm sooo looking forward to reading!
When Juliet and Henley meet, sparks fly. These two are hot, and you find yourself wanting them together from the get-go. It’s perfect. The perfect night. The perfect date. The perfect… well… you know.
And when you think they’re meant to be… nope. Nothing happens.
Fast forward three years. Juliet just bought a house in her favorite part of the city. OK, it’s a fixer-upper and will need some serious work and money, but it’s hers. And the neighborhood is incredible. Until… She finds out Henley lives next door.
At the moment, you’re all #teamjuliet, especially since Henley comes off as a bit of an asshole, but then you get a glimpse of the guy. And you see the attraction is not one-sided at all. And that it’s a definite inconvenience that she’s moved in next door—especially since he can’t have her.
Juliet’s not that pleased about it either, but she makes a point of showing him what he’s missing out. She doesn’t make it easy for him, but neither does he.
There’s push and pull, a will-they, won’t-they that keeps you reading.
We know Juliet’s catching feelings, and that he is too. But to everyone else, he pretends. He makes her jealous. He ignores her. And yes, he annoyed me sometimes.
Here’s the kicker—she may have fallen in love first, but I think he’s fallen deeper. He wants more, but he also doesn’t know how to show her that. His insecurities and the way you finally see past his alpha male persona… that was what got to me the most.
I wanted to hug him and tell him it’s going to be OK. Because this is a TL Swan book, and you know it will.
You get bits and pieces of the next books in the series, and I’m so looking forward to them because I loved their friends and their little family on Kingston Lane.
It’s a long journey. And the guy who didn’t know how to love ends up loving too much, and it’s too good. Rewarding. Heartwarming. Full circle.
