A typical fast read from this author reads like a movie keeps you engrossed nice short chapters that always make you want to read the next.
Highly entertaining plenty of action and twists
I was so late to the table with this book as it got buried in my TBR list. But what a find!
James Patterson’s style is so engaging. The banter and quirks of character have been brilliantly written and the story is carried forward all on dialogue. As for ‘action’ and procedural detail, it is minimal but it almost doesn’t matter because the setting and narrative is so sharp.
The only part that let it down for me was the naivety of Lion and Lamb in their investigation. The real murderer was ‘right there’ and they didn’t see it until the very end (obviously!). That said, great reasoning and fantastic writing throughout makes this a highly addictive and entertaining read.
Thanks to NetGalley for my advance copy in exchange for my honest review.
I found this one to be a great read but wasn't my favourite James Patterson book. I do recommend it and think many people will love it.. I have given it 4 stars which I normally give James Patterson books 5 they was just something lacking I'm not sure what it was.
James Patterson does it again. I don't think this man is capable of writing a bid book.
Fast passed, short chapters. You'll be hooked from the first page
This is a great standalone murder / thriller with two new main characters
As usual with Patterson there are many twists and turns and the short chapters keep you turning pages.
I wasn't too sure of the use of the transcript parts and found them a bit distracting but stick with this and enjoy
great entertaining thriller
#LionLamb #NetGalley I am a huge fan of James Patterson and usually love all his books do I was excited to read this new story. Unfortunately, for me, I did not like the style in which it was written - with the excessive use of transcripts. One or two of them would have been fine but with the majority of the book written like this, it spilt my enjoyment of the plot. The storyline itself was good and I really liked the characters of Cooper and Veena. I would love to see these characters in a series but written in a more prose style of writing! Nevertheless, James Patterson remains one of my favourite authors.
Murder of an NFL star brings together Lion and Lamb investigators for the family and the DA. This story races along due to the connection you make to the main characters as they work their way through the maze of both the public and private life of Archie Hughes. Lion and Lamb have both witty and sarcastic humour which covers the fact that they care deeply. These are two characters you would love to revisit in another story.
There will be plenty of red herrings to keep you guessing to the final conclusion.
Thank you NetGalley and (publisher Random House UK, Cornerstone) for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.
Love anything James Patterson writes! I would read this man’s shopping list. A great fast paced book with the usual short quick chapters loves it
I have loved every single James Patterson book I have ever read and this was no exception! Thrilling and the pace is strong!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of this book.
I loved Lion and Lamb - two characters that bounce off of each other. I haven’t read a book in ages where the characters pull you in, rather than the storyline. I will be recommending and the short, punchy chapters are definitely a selling point.
I love James Patterson books and always look forward to reading them. Fantastic storyline here if not as fast paced as we normally get, but still a complete joy to read. Great thriller.
When a famous American sports star is found murdered and his wife is accused, Lion (working for the defence), and Lamb (working for the prosecution) find themselves teaming up to work out what really happened. Can they solve the case and keep themselves safe in the meantime?
I really enjoyed this book, and hope that it is the start of a new series. I'd love to see more of the relationship between the two main characters, and I found Lion's interactions with his children very amusing! Another great Patterson read.
Another amazing book from James Patterson. As always fast paced and had me hooked from the first page. highly recommend this book.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of Lion and Lamb by James Patterson in return for my honest review.
I loved this book and really hope that its the start of a new series, once I started I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. The characters are brilliant and the storyline fast paced. Another gem from James Patterson.
Lion and Lamb two private investigators working opposite side of a case involving a murdered NFL quarterback and his wife suspected of his murder. Very good read, loved the interaction between Lion and Lamb and Lion and his children. Good pacing and characters, could be the start of a series. Thanks to the publishers and Netgalley for this review ARC
Cooper Lamb and Veena Lion are trying to find the killer of a NFL footballer Archie Hughes . They are on opposing sides but come together to find the truth.
Archie Hughes is a hero to his fans but his personal life is a very different he’s married to Francine who is a Grammy award winning singer and also the number one suspect in her husband’s murder.
There are plenty of suspects and red herrings thrown in for good measure.
The story is fast paced as you would expect from James Patterson and makes for an easy and entertaining read.
This is a stand-alone book and I hope we see more of Lamb and Lion in the future.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK, Cornerstone.
I struggled with this book, as a James Patterson fan i was excited to read this and the concept seemed really good, it just didn't quite deliver, it was difficult to get into as we are used to a faster pace.
A superstar Quarterback has been murdered and his wife a superstar singer is suspect number one.
The hunt is on to find the killer and justice and two private detectives have been hired to get results. One for the defence: Cooper Lamb and the other Veena Lion for the prosecution. Both are brilliant at what they do, but not long into their investigations things become very dangerous, as everyone concerned wants the family secrets kept quiet, but this twosome refuse to back down and even with a killer on the loose they will do everything they can to find the truth.
James Patterson and Duane Swierczynski have come together to create a brilliant and captivating story.
I found this book impossible to put down, the writing is at its best and the plot is just sensational. This is another outstanding book by the boss of thriller writing.
I've read a lot of books by James Patterson and when I saw this one on Netgalley, I knew I had to at least try and get it. And lucky for me, I got it! It's out today and I received a copy from Random House UK via Netgalley.
We follow Cooper Lamb and Veena Lion who are on opposing teams when a famous football star is found dead. The wife is the suspect and Lamb is trying to find evidence to support her innocence. On the other side is Lion who works for the prosecution. They seem to be working together and getting results together even though they are on different sides.
Again, Patterson, and co-author Duene Swierczynski, did not disappoint. A fast paced thriller with lots of twists and turns to keep the reader guessing to the very end. Some parts are a bit of a stretch, but still quite enjoyable!
4/5⭐
I really enjoyed this fast paced thriller. You do have to suspend belief a bit but that doesn’t take away from it being a great read..The dialogue was really sharp and witty. I hope it isn’t just a one-off story as they made a really great duo.and I can see them on a tv series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me access to an early copy of this novel.
