Sunny Days on the Boardwalk - Georgina Troy

I do love a book set at a seaside, I find them to be very nostalgic, and this one did not disappoint. There were some great characters in this story, and not just the main ones but secondary characters also, friendship was a key theme for me throughout this book. A really heartwarming, light summer read. Also can we just appreciate the adorable cover - who isn't a sucker for a pretty cover! Thank you very much Netgalley and Boldwood Books for this e-arc in return for my honest thoughts and opinions.

Enjoyable summer read, great older characters but maybe a few too many. Sun lounger read that isn't too taxing. Thank you netgalley for the advance copy

This was a short read for me and I really enjoyed it a lot. I picked up this because of its refreshing cover and synopsis sounded good to me.

What I liked the most:

•The scenic setting of the novel. I always love novels having picturesque settings. I was like experiencing the Boardwalk weather myself.
•The people on the Boardwalk are very adorable. Especially Jools grandmother. I like how they cared for each other.
•The events that take place on the Boardwalk.
What I don’t like:

•The one and only thing I don’t like is the relationship between Finn and Jools. Finn seemed to me a nice person at the start of the novel and all of sudden Jools became ambiguous about their relationship without any reason. Finn’s character lacks some development
Overall, it is a great book to spend this summer.

The perfect summer read!

Jules and the handsome Marius transport you to the beautiful islands, where you really get a feel for the little community that lives there and what a role they all play.

I have never been fortunate enough to visit the islands, but I will be adding them to my bucket list now.

This book is a lovely easy read, heart warming, romantic and the perfect read for a long hot summer.

Thank you for letting me read it early. I throughly enjoyed it.

Sunny Days on the Boardwalk follows Jools Jones as she navigates life in her idyllic island town. In the novel, Jools must juggle the hustle and bustle of everyday life with a wide array of personalities vying for her attention while dealing with a long-distance relationship with Finn, her new boyfriend, a person who might not be who she thinks he is.

The thing that first drew me to this book was the cover and title — I love books with seaside settings. Whether it’s about a local trying to save their beloved town or an out-of-towner falling in love for the summer, it will suck me in every time.

My hopes were high going into this novel, and, while I did enjoy the ride, I was a little disappointed - I wanted to like it more than I did.

What I liked about the book:

1. the setting: the picturesque island was the perfect backdrop for a feel good summer read.
2. The adorable old people: Alan and Jools’ grandmother were the cutest.
3. Jools: she was a good person who wanted the best for everyone and went out of her way to help her friends — I was rooting for her the whole time.

What I didn’t love:

1. Characterization: a lot of characters — particularly the love interests — felt flat. Finn was nice until all of a sudden he wasn’t. Marius was too nice the entire time. I wanted more depth from them, and I couldn’t really see why Jools liked them. I didn’t feel tension between Jools and any of the love interests; I wanted that moment where my toes curl because the tension between them is so strong, and I never got it.
2. Conflict: there wasn’t really any conflict until halfway through the novel, and, once there finally was some action, a lot of it felt very low stakes — I wanted to worry with the characters. All of the conflicts were also solved too easily, like in a couple pages, and it wasn’t very satisfying.

Conclusion

The book was an enjoyable way to spend an afternoon; I just wished it left a more memorable impression. However, the happy ending for the main characters was satisfying.
