Crime Noir debut with lots of comparison names being thrown about. Personally I think this should compared to George Pelecanos, Small town with a dark history, ex-alcoholic paramedic Archer (nod to Ross MacDonald I presume) is unfortunate to run into ex-cop, who he had helped to send away. ex-cop is now a fixer for the mayor in his bid for Governor. Things go badly.
Fans of modern day Noir will be hoping that Flanagan writes quickly, and that a new novel is not years away.
