Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this book.

Cleverly written so you don’t know who is who until it all comes together at the end. Really good read!

A very enjoyable book, well written and full of twists and turns.
I loved the way it was set out, taking the reader through the events of the weekend whilst still maintaining the suspense. The characters were well developed and the whole story just grew and grew - I couldn't put it down!
I highly recommend it.

The Search Party is a dual timeline thriller with lots going on.
Max and Annie have escaped the London rat race and have given up their architect jobs to move to Cornwall and start a glamping business. Before they officially open they invite their old group of university mates and their partners and children for a long bank holiday weekend of fun. The timeline is set on the weekend and the afterwards being interviewed by the police. The different dynamics of the families makes it hard for them to come together easily, some don’t even want to be there and put in no phone service that’s the teenagers begging for home. There are a lot of twists and some big reveal moments making this a very twisty but addictive read.
I’m not going to go into the storyline too much as I feel it would spoil it as there are that many things linked to other things it would be a shame to know half the story. I would recommend this read as I really enjoyed it.
I would like to thank Netgalley and Simon And Schuster UK for this ARC I received in exchange for an honest review.

Well written and great fun.
A group of old university friends take their 5 young families glamping for a long weekend on a remote headland. With secrets and simmering resentments galore, and a storm brewing what could possibly go wrong?!
Full of clever red herrings and plot twists the author kept this reader turning the pages way too late into the night.
Thank you to netgalley and Simon and schuster for an advance copy of this book.

This was an adventure that was definitely going to go wrong. The “ friends” that were destined to fall out over a clamping weekend. Throw a stroppy teenager into the mix with flirtatious leanings, plus an autistic child, add them together with a few others and sit back and watch the sparks fly between the adults
Not a bad read but all a bit predictable.

Max & Annie were successful architects who decided to give up the rat race in London to move to Cornwall & start a glamping business. Their adopted son Kip has been through some dreadful times in his young life. That has left its mark & he doesn't cope well socially. Before the official opening weekend they invite their friends from Uni days. Dominic is a TV star, used to splashing the cash,. He comes along with second wife Tanya, their daughter Phoebe & Scarlet & Felix from his first marriage. Jim & Suze & their three children are in a different world financially. Kira is the other Uni friend. She has an infant daughter & a new man in her life- Fred, who has not met the others.

Old friends taken out of their usual setting show the gaps between their attitudes. When a bad storm arrives, Phoebe goes missing & there is no communication to the outside world Dominic is quick to pick on Kip which further inflames the situation.

This was a gripping read. I was totally wrong about one aspect. I disliked Dominic intensely. Every character had their own things to say & I was up reading far too late! Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this book.

A glamping weekend in sunny Cornwall? What’s not to like? This reunion of old college friends seems a great idea for architects Max and Annie. They look forward to showing off their efforts to create the ultimate camping experience before they open the site for the general public.

Little do they know at the outset, as they excitedly watch their friends arrive, how much altered expectations, relationship tensions, conflict, a violent storm which cuts off all communication, a missing girl, and hidden secrets come to light, will ruin their expectations.

The weekend starts off lighthearted and relaxing but soon becomes heavy and stressful. Fingers are pointed and accusations arise as they all succumb to fear and anxiety. The events are related from each person’s point of view as they’re subject to police interviews.

There is spine-tingling drama from the beginning with a cliff face scene. An accident happens and someone is hospitalised but we don’t know who until much later on in the story, though several suggestions present themselves for the reader to try to untangle.

This novel is well written, engaging, and carefully crafted. Alternating timelines help maintain interest and add to the atmospheric storyline. After a slowish start, it becomes a pacey, page turning read as the truth is gradually revealed. Grateful thanks to Simon and Schuster and NetGalley and for the eARC.

Sometimes a book comes along that you have to drop everything for to keep reading it. The Search Party was one of those books, and I just couldn't get enough of it.

It starts off all charming and pleasant, with five old friends from uni and their families meeting for a weekend of glamping in Cornwall. Not everyone is pleased to be going though, and there are plenty of secrets to be kept. All is going well until the narrative switches to Sunday afternoon, and something bad has happened. We continue to move between the aftermatch and the build-up, plus switching between the main characters, until finally the truth is revealed.

The Search Party is an edge of your seat, hold your breath thriller that will keep you guessing until the last few pages. It features some excellent characters, and raise some tricky questions about what you would do in the same situation.

A fresh take on what seems to be quite a common setting/ premise for a suspense novel. This book initially reminded of several books I have read previously, friends on a weekend away together bring their histories and tensions with them. It did take a while to kick up a gear and pull me in but eventually it did. After a somewhat sluggish start I am glad I persevered with this one , while the pacing is a little uneven, its a well written page turner with a satisfying and twisty conclusion.
I suspect this would work really well on audio.
3 star.

This is the first book I have read from this author. I found this book a slow burner and confusing at times making it not an easy read. Good premise that just did not fully deliver for me. . Good twist at the end. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.

This is the first book I’ve read by Hannah Richell and it didn’t disappoint. I look forward to reading more from this author.
#TheSearchParty is a tense, dramatic and atmospheric read with twists and turns that keep you guessing throughout.
Max and Annie invite their college friends and families for a weekend glamping trip. Where tensions mount, secrets are exposed and friendships are tested, as things take a turn for the worst with a storm cutting them off and a missing person.
The story is told through multiple POV’s and timelines, which I really enjoyed, making it easy to follow the story. All the characters are well written with their own personalities and voices. And the setting on the Cornish coast adding to the drama.
This book had me gripped start to finish. I couldn’t put it down.
Overall, this book is entertaining, suspenseful and keeps you turning the pages. I loved it.
Definitely recommend this unputdownable read to anyone who enjoys thrilling family drama.

Max and Annie gave everything up in London and are going to open a glamping site in Cornwall. But before they are letting paying guest in they want to host a pre-opening party with their old friends and their children. So they invite them for a weekend of drinking, relaxing and catching up. But of course there are hidden tensions and secrets lurking under the cheering surface. And everything turns even sinister when someone gets missing.

This is not a new and exciting story. I’ve read similar books over the years. But it is still entertaining. There are a lot of characters to follow, they all have children and I mixed them up for quite a while. The story is told in various POV. Unfortunately this slows the story down a bit. Sometimes you see the same situation through somebody else’s eyes again. And sometimes a chapter gets interesting but the next chapter lets somebody else telling something from a subplot. On the other hand it kept my interest so that I flew through the chapters. The author does not give this genre a new dynamic but it is still an entertaining read.

This was one of those books that get so much more interesting the more you read of it! The further in I got the quicker the pages were turning until I just couldn't put it down until I knew who was being searched for, what had happened with regards to the DB that had been found and just what on earth had happened this weekend!
The story is told via many narrators, most of the cast of friends seem to have a turn at telling us what they witnessed but important information is kept from us, like knowing who is in the hospital bed and still missing at certain points. This doesn't get infuriating whoever, the writing is so good that you just accept these secrets and understand we will be told them at the right moment, and we were!
I found the story to be highly entertaining and medium/fast paced with a lot of misdirection and clouding of events by not revealing the whole truth until we need to know everything.
I've thoroughly enjoyed this reading experience and will be looking out for this author in future in the hope of repeating this.

Three couples travel to Cornwall to stay with old friends Max and Annie, who have moved out of London for a new life in the country, where they have set up a glamping site on a farm. The invitation is for a trial run before they open to the public. But what should have been a happy reunion and an enjoyable weekend quickly unravels.
The opening paragraphs of the book take you straight into drama. There's been an accident, and the group are being interviewed individually by the police. The writer cleverly hides the identity of the casualty lying in the hospital bed and events leading up to the incident are gradually revealed through the eyes of each of the main characters. There's a huge selection of personalities here. Some are likeable, others not so much. What happens during their weekend at the farm certainly peels away the veneer of their friendships and lets the reader see them for who they really are. There are lies, of course, and secrets, to ramp up the drama, plus a great twist towards the end that I didn’t see coming. A lost child adds to the growing tensions and brings everything to a head as a storm rages outside the tents. It’s a great story that pulls you in and makes you reluctant to stop reading until you have finished the book. A wonderful start to my 2024 reading challenge. Highly recommended.

There's nothing like a great friendship reunion or is there?
When Annie and Max and their adopted son Kip decide to leave the London life behind to set up their own glamping business 8n Cornwall all of their friends thought they were mad.
But as the twentieth friendship anniversary is looming they decide to invite their friends, partners and kids for a bank holiday weekend.
It doesn't take long before friendships start to unravel and when disaster strikes who is to blame and for what gain?
There are some wonderful twists and red herrings within the book and the ending was definitely unpredicted.

Max, Annie and Kip have moved from London to Cornwall into a run down farm house with the dream of building a glamping business. The weekend before the business is due to open they invite their old friends and their families to try out the campsite, but things take a dark turn when Phoebe goes missing in the middle of a violent storm.

When university friends come together at a glamping site just opened by one of the couples it should be a great break for the friends and their kids. As a lover of camping I thought the setting on a remote glamping site near the sea to be well-described and just the sort of place that I'd probably like to visit (albeit not in the circumstances described in this story!) I enjoyed this book and thought it provided a good level of ongoing suspense - it wasn't clear what exactly had happened and who exactly the guilty party was until the end and I have to admit I hadn't guessed the right person.

Good crime thriller set in the world of glamping. Ive only been camping never glamping so this felt fresh. A slow build up and a misleading prologue really made this for me. Some awful people ink this book but that's good for readers. I was anxious to find out the truth and wanted to hurry parts but stay with it = the build up is totally worth it.

A group of friends who have known each other since university 20 years ago reunite at a glamping campsite for a bank holiday weekend owned by two of the friends in the group, Max and Annie, who ditched their lavish, busy London life and moved to Cornwall. With them are the group's partners, old and new, and children. Friendships are tested, particularly when one of the group goes missing near a cliffside during a storm and without phone signal or power the group are left stuck without assistance.

I wasn't sure what to expect when I requested this book, the blurb sounded super interesting but I'd never read anything by Hannah Richell. After devouring this book in one day I can confidently say that Hannah Richell is an author I will certainly be looking out for in the future! I was hooked from the get go, the novel dives straight in and intrigues and excites you from the moment it begins. I spent the whole book guessing and coming up with theories, but still didn't guess most things correctly at the end. The book is written from multiple POVs and on different timelines over the course of a bank holiday weekend and I felt this was done really effectively - sometimes this can get confusing but I didn't personally find it confusing at all in this book and kept the plot exciting, fast paced and fresh. The ending was satisfying and reached a resolution that I was happy with.

The reason I haven't given this a 5* is because I feel potentially the outcome could be predictable to readers who are extremely well versed in the genre. For me personally I read a wide variety of genres and only pick up a few books like this per year, so I found it gripping and didn't guess the ending, but I do feel that, in hindsight, if I read a lot of books like this I potentially would've as some other, smaller points I did find a bit predictable.
