thank you to netgalley for the advanced reading copy. I really enjoyed this and will be getting copies for my shop.
Camilla Isleys books are fizzy like champagne. They are always cute and make me smile, but also make me long for a bit more. This one is the estranged sister companion to her first two and while I loved the first book the best this was cute too. The redemption arc was good, and the wedding aspect was well done.
A wedding, sister of the bride, best man, a pact of fun (forgetting your name) no strings attached "time together", sneaking around and lot of drama, lots and lots of drama.
This is a good book, well-written story.
I liked how all the characters played an important part even the smallest role character.
Great setting
Very descriptive, you get all the feels
Steamy
And lots of fun to read
I am thankful for the opportunity to read this book, as an ARC. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley. The above is my review/opinion, its honest and voluntary.
I found this novel similar to others I have read. There wasn't anything too special about it sadly. Just couldn't get into it.
I'll start off by saying I really liked the first book in this series. It was a steminist novel through and through. The Love Proposal took a hard right turn to more smut than steminism. While yes the characters are both in academia of their own right, the book focuses much more on their sexual relationship than it does their actual lives. If you're into smut and a book that is essentially just a 300 page hookup, then absolutely this is for you. For me? Not so much, I was very disappointed since The Love Theorem was so good. Also I'm not sure I really needed a book about Summer. If you read The Love Theorem, Summer is the evil twin that was Lana's best friend who slept with Lana's boyfriend at the time starting off the story of The Love Theorem. The author attempts to paint Summer a redemption arc with this book. Summer has to face all of her demons at her twin's wedding week adventure. All of the people who she hurt are featured including her old friend group. I have strong feelings about Lana. Spoiler alert, Lana forgave Summer and treats her as a friend. Like what?!? Sex with Christian must be really freaking good, because I don't think I would ever forgive Summer if I was in Lana's position. Also, Summer keeps ruminating over how she made one mistake and no one will let it go. Like dude? You slept with your best friend's boyfriend and then stayed with him after she found you out. That isn't just a mistake, it's a life altering event! So honestly, I couldn't have cared less if she got her HEA with Archie. In fact, Archie is too good for summer and I almost wish the story followed Archie and Christian's assistant rather than Archie and Summer. Now that is a book I would have wanted to read. All in all I just think this second book could have gone way more directions and the Summer storyline just wasn't needed. This is the first book from Boldwood I've been this disappointed by :(
Did not realize this was part of a series. Read the love theorem and then jumped into this one. Irritated as all get out with Summer given her performance in the last book but the spoiler in the first couple chapters about Winter made me confused for a minute, then had to go read winters book before this one (soooo highly recommend reading this in order!)
This was a cute/quick Hallmark continuation of the series but there was just a few things that threw this into didn't love it but didn't hate it realm. Because of Summer's past proclivities, I couldn't see myself rooting for her (but also the propensity for all the side characters to continue to bring it up got real tiring real fast), it just felt drawn out, that because the focus was on the cheating, if there was growth it wasn't highlighted. The insta love, based on what we knew about the characters from previous books, didn't really make sense and didn't show the reader a ton of plot depth through the course of the story. Plus, with a couple heavier topics barely glossed over....I wanted more for the story, it needed more. There was SO much involvement with past side characters that it took away from the couple the story was supposed to be focused on.
While this wasn't my favorite in the series by a long shot, am I still diving head first into the next one? Why yes, yes I am. Am I hoping a book about Tucker and Penny is on the horizon? Also yes.
Thank you Netgalley and Boldwood Books for the ARC in exchange for my review!
This was such a fun read with a great premise - given this character was previously bad-mouthed due to a scenario from a previous book in the series, it was really lovely to meet Summer and see everything from her perspective. It's the perfect light-hearted read and is filled with a wonderful romance between two people who you wouldn't necessarily put together.
Another fabulously fun story by the wonderful Camilla, I'm really enjoying these novels and seeing all the characters from previous ones again and see where it all goes.
I went into this blind and I didn't even realise that this was Summer's time to shine. Obviously after reading the other books I wasn't sure how I would feel about her time. But gosh I adored it! I loved seeing her in a new light and getting more of an idea of her personal struggles. It really made me think about not judging a book by its cover. Summer is judged a lot for her previous actions but she just needed her time to tell her side.
Archie was a character and his banter is still amazing! I was so happy to see he was the main man in this. I adored seeing him again, it had me smiling so much.
They have their own troubles but the beauty of the story is going along with it all and seeing how it all plans out! A fabulous book to get stuck into. P.S. I loved the epilogue 😜 How cute!
The Love Proposal was a very cute, yet predictable romance. The characters appear to have a genuine and real connection, making them falling for each other that much more believable. I did find the story to be too predictable and therefore I lost some enjoyment in the story.
After reading Love Quest recently I was really looking forward to this. I loved the fact that we had a book based around a Summer and Archie, I found this such a sweet enjoyable read, with relatable characters that were easy to root for, I can't wait to read more @camillaisley
Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. I would rate a 3.5 but rounding up to 4.
Summer Knowles is attending her beloved twin sister’s destination wedding. Normally this would be so exciting but, Summer was caught with mutual best friend’s boyfriend. Consequently, their friends are not warmly welcoming to her and she feels like an outcast. Enter the best man, a known player. The two decide to hook up during the wedding activities in an effort to support each other. The story is predictable.
This is mostly a fun lighthearted read with the undercurrent of dealing with forgiveness, moving on in life after making a mistake, and overcoming commitment phobias. There is clever banter which goes a long way to make this book such an easy enjoyable read.
3 stars.
"The Love Proposal" by Camilla Isley is mostly adorable, very predictable, and easily digestible read. It's not the best book I have ever read, but it's good enough. Though it is part of a series, it is an interconnected standalone, so you can read it by itself, but I probably would have benefitted from having read the previous texts to get a sense of the writing style, characters, etc. I thought the two main characters here, Summer and Archie, were a decent fit together. Their connection begins very quickly, and I would have liked a little more time to get to know them as individuals before they got together. They flirt a lot and have great banter with one another during their supposed-to-be-one-week-fling-even-though-we-know-it-will-not-just-be-for-a-week. Still, some of their actions were juvenile and a little silly and dated. I hated how most of Summer's plot revolved almost exclusively around her cheating in a previous relationship. She feels bad about it and spends the entire book making up for it, but also sort of makes excuses for it at times, specifically early on??? I guess that's how I interpreted it, but others might see it differently. She basically has no characteristics apart from having been a cheater at one point. I couldn't recall any other details about her in this moment, and I just finished the book last night I absolutely hated the yoga scenes and think they brought the book to a screeching halt every single time one of them happens (and there are A LOT of them). All in all, this could have been worse. It's fine, though a bit unmemorable.
PS: Does Camilla Isley have a foot....well, you know...obsession? Both of the books I have read penned by her heavily involve feet or shoes in some way, in great detail... a girl's gotta wonder.
Thank you to NetGalley, Camilla Isley, and Boldwood Books for the complimentary ARC of this book. All opinions are my own. I was not compensated for this review.
I was so happy to read that Summer finally got her HEA and with such a worthwhile love interest. Camila Isley's world building really created such a wonderful characters.
Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for providing an eARC for an honest review.
Very cute if predictable romance. Summer and Archie plan a no strings attached fling during the week of her sister's wedding. However, their connection is real and they fall for each other. I do like how there is an appearance from characters in Isley's other stories. I did find this too predictable and didn’t enjoy it.
Another 4 star read from Camilla Isley, I really enjoy the way the couples manage to feel believable even though the books take place over a very short amount of time.
I must admit I was convinced I was going to hate summers book because of how the character is introduced in the series, but it may actually be my favourite. We open with a very vulnerable scene of her during her egg retrieval. The author shares in the back of the book that she has personal experience with this, and you can tell she took great care when writing this storyline. I liked that we got to see how summer feels about her past, present, and future. You really get to connect with her.
It's interesting that archie, who is labelled as a player (in both love quest and by his friends in this book), was cute with summer from pretty much the beginning. I mean, yes, he propositioned her at a bar, and they agreed to a no strings situation, but he actually asks what's upset her. He genuinely cares how she's doing, which is very not player behaviour.
They make a great pairing, and the sexual tension is definitely there, especially during the yoga sessions. They do fall very quickly, and you can tell from each of their POVs without either of them actually needing to say it. By the end of the week, we have an "I love you" that was sweet but prefaced by them admitting they don't know much about each other really.
Granted the 3rd act conflict forces them to discuss babies and marriage (thanks winter that was actually quite mean of you) but part of me would have preferred no I love you and just them agreeing to see how it goes. There was potential for a longer book that would have gotten us to the same conclusion, and I can see some people thinking the whole relationship moves too fast.
That being said, it was super cute, and I'll definitely read it again, on to the next book in the series now.
I received an advance review copy of this book, and this review represents my honest opinion. Thank you to netgalley, Camilla Isley, and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.
Another swoony romance from Camilla Isley that can be devoured in a day or two, which is exactly what I did! This is kind of a continuation from Love Quest, a redemption arc for Summer from the previous two books. I enjoyed the romance and instant chemistry between Summer and Archie, and the way that both characters changed within their whirlwind relationship.
A very interesting, 7/10, epilogue - I don’t think I’ve ever read one 40 years on! 🥰
It includes lots of the best romance book elements and tropes:
- instant chemistry/attraction
- friends with benefits arrangement
- only meant to be a fling…
- best man and bridesmaid
- closed door romance
Summer Knowles has given up on love after her last rebound blew up her closest friendships and her relationship to her twin sister. She wants marriage and family someday but it's just not happening right now. Winter, her twin, is getting married and it'll be a week-long trial of events for her to endure while avoiding former friends and her judgemental mother. When the best man offers a no strings wedding fling to help her forget her problems she agrees. But when he starts being so sweet to her, it's hard to keep her heart out of the equation. Especially since he's not a marriage and kids kind of guy.
I had a hard time with this book since Summer was so awful in the last two books and I really didn't want to read her HEA. But Archie made up for it. I love his fun loving personality, the way he treats Summer even if it is just temporary, and his fun flirty banter. By the end I was rooting for them to stay together. Overall I did enjoy it, just not as much as the rest of the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I am so excited to learn more about the other Knowles twins that we've known through Lana and Christian's story and the flirtious Archie. I came to learn about how Summer feelings after the affair and it's kind of pitiful. Glad to know she has Archie beside her. It turns out this book is a lot steamier and more emotional than the precedence, but I like it!
Camilla Isley did something I didn't think possible: she provided a believable redemption story for Summer, one of the villains of The Love Theorem. Though it started with Love Quest, Summer really gets her redemption and her own HEA in this book alongside Archie, the incorrigible flirt from Love Quest. I hated Summer in The Love Theorem, and I ended up rooting for her in this book. Isley hit it out of the park with her character development and growth, and gave both her and the Archie, the consummate playboy, surprising depth. Recommended, though read the prior two books first to get the full character arc.
I received this ARC from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
This is the third book by this author I’ve read and it’s the third book in a four book series.
I enjoyed the other books SO much and we met Summer before in the first and second books but we don’t know who she really is and now this is her story, so we get to meet the real Summer.
It’s her sisters wedding week and it’s an action packed week of events but all of Summers friends are invited and she’s the outcast at the minute after having an affair with her best friends boyfriend.
Can she find a way through it ?.
She thinks not until Best Man Archie asks her if she wants a week of string free fun to forget all her problems.
This is was so heartfelt, I felt so sorry for Summer, yes she did wrong but when you find out the circumstances and the why you understand a little and she deserves a second chance at happiness. Archie is just the man to give it to her, we met him in the previous book and he’s such a good character.
This will have your heart beating out of your chest it’s so romantic!.
Another fantastic book by one of my favourite authors.
