Summer is not looking forward to her twin sister's wedding, which will require her to interact with plenty of former friends who abandoned her after she had an affair with her best friend's boyfriend. Archie isn't looking forward to the wedding either, he's perpetually single, a bit of a playboy, and not into the whole romance thing. However, when the two meet on their very first night, they decide a week of friends-with-benefits hooking up will make the experience a lot easier for both of them. However, it doesn't take long for both to start having real feelings.
This is a standalone, but part of a larger series of interconnected romances. I've not read the others and was able to pick up on most of the back story. However, I suspect that reading the others would give you a better idea of the two main characters' backstories and personalities.
All told, the first 60-70% of the book was a bit hard to get through. I felt like there wasn't a lot of plot or character development. All we really learn about Summer is that she had an affair and is very, very sorry about it. All we really know about Archie is that he's not into serious relationships. The two don't really seem to have any meaningful interactions that are outside of sex and there's not a lot of tension to keep the story moving other than a series of wedding events.
After that point though, the story does pick up, primarily because there is a real conflict. <spoiler>Summer wants kids and a husband, but Archie isn't sure about it.</spoiler> That conflict adds real emotion to the story and the pacing picks up. However, because it's so close to the end, the conclusion feels a bit rushed. There are plenty of places where the author goes into a lot of detail on extraneous things that didn't feel necessary and could have been better spent developing the two characters.
This is very much an insta-love/insta-lust story, and it's closed-door, if you aren't into either of those things, you aren't going to be a fan of the book.
* Thank you to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for the ARC of this book in exchange for my honest review! *
This was the third book of Camilla’s that I buddy read in June. The previous two we struggled to keep to the schedule so jokingly I suggested for this one *day 1 – whole book. That is exactly what we did though and it’s testament to how engaging her books are.
This can be read as a standalone as previous goings on are explained but in my opinion you would be missing out on two great books. So read them all!!!
I liked Archie’s humour and playfulness in Love Quest so couldn’t wait to see what he would get up to in this. I confess out of the three male leads he was both mine and my buddy readers favourite.
I really felt for Summer, although now lying in the lumpy bed she made for herself, after sleeping with someone she shouldn’t have. I could feel her struggle at having to put on a brave face when everyone knew what she had done. Archie was just the tonic and all the gin that a girl needs but unfortunately for Summer her sister completely disagrees, knowing his playboy antics and her desire for a loving relationship.
However there is nothing quite like the thrill of a chase and this book tantalises and teases just as much as Summer does to Archie. I really can’t recommend these books enough and I’m already desperate for the next one.
Romance, banter, returning characters and happy ever afters are this readers fairytale.
Before you start this luscious story that involves the wedding of a twin, you need to read the book that started it all-"Love Quest." This is where the story really begins, while "The Love Proposal" takes over after "Love Quest" ends. Ok, it's actually the third book, but it's where we meet Archie, and the bride of this book, Winter, falls in love with her groom Everything will make more sense if you do... And if you don't? Either way, you are in for a delightful treat as Summer and Archie meet at the beginning of her twin's wedding week festivities.
This is a story of many contradictions and personal confusions. A story about a mistake, and we all know that anyone can make a mistake! A story of living in the present and ignoring the future that is laced with irony as the story opens with planning for the future in a very extreme way. A story of focusing on the here and now when truth is, all thoughts are about is what will or could happen next. There is unexpected tenderness, passion, and rage; in short everything needed for an exciting and romantic story!
With delightful characters, a beautiful setting, and a few malicious former friends to balance things out, this story has everything needed for a glorious ride to a Happily for now ending, with high hopes for a HEA. It was a spectacularly enjoyable book, and I loved it!
I want to thank Boldwood Books and Net Galley for allowing me to read and review this book. Opinions presented about "The Love Proposal" are strictly my personal thoughts.
This was a fun, quick read! I didn’t realize it was a part of a series, but I was totally able to read it as a stand alone! Now I want to go back and read the previous books in the series!
A short, sweet, fast paced rom-com with a redemption story entwined. I haven't read the others in this series, but I didn't feel lost at all throughout.
'I've sort of sworn off men. I'm not ready to meet someone'. 'Oh, honey, but that's the worst thing you can say if you don't want a man'.
Synopsis
Summer is attending her twin sister, Winter's, wedding. But the wedding is going to be filled with people who hate her.. she did have an affair with her best friends boyfriend.
There, she meets Archie - a notorious, handsome ladies man. To cope with the wedding week ahead, Summer takes him up on his offer to spend a no-strings attached week together. But sometimes no-strings attached makes the heart want more..
'.. and I can't dive head-first into another relationship that I know will end in a total disaster. We're doomed. Story of my life. I hate it'.
Thoughts
Short, sweet and an adorable romance between Summer and Archie. I enjoyed the dual POV with them both, seeing their turmoil about the 'no-strings attached' relationship, and also Summer's turmoil about being everyone's villain for having an affair.
I will probably go and read the previous books in the series to see how this story all started out, but I had no problems with understanding what was going on.

The Love Proposal, formerly published as You May Kiss the Bridesmaid, is the 3rd book in Camilla Isley’s rerelease series. Though part of a series, this book can easily be read as a standalone.
This story’s main characters, Summer and Archie, are both from previous books in the series. Before reading, I was a little concerned I might not like Summer since she was more of a villain in the first book. However, I ended up liking her a lot and appreciated seeing the past events from her perspective. Of course, it was also fun to see other characters from the previous books as well.
Most of the book takes place over the course of a week that leads up to the marriage of the previous book’s couple, Winter and Logan. Summer and Archie begin what is meant to be just a week-long fling, but feelings start to develop between the two. I think both characters showed a tremendous amount of growth over the course of the story, which is something I like to see. The story had plenty of comedic moments intertwined with closed-door adult scenes. I really like how things ended in this story.
It sounds like there is at least one more book that will be released in this series, so I’m excited to see what comes next!
Literally obsessed. I think it was a bit predictable but it was so well written and it just captured my attention that I didnt really care.
Who would have thought that this book would be my favorite book in this series? Definitely not me. The whole cheating plot from two books before was still in my head and I’m honest, I was prepared to give Summer zero chances to win me over. Somewhere along the way though, I had to cave in and just enjoy reading this book.
The story seemed way more steamier than the other books in this series. Archie is a notorious womanizer and his fling with Summer starts out as a friends/ acquaintance with benefits type of thing. She needs something to get her mind off the wedding and everyone in the wedding party judging her for her cheating scandal and he just wants a week full of fun. But what starts out as fun turns into something more along the way.
This story was really cute and the characters were great. I loved watching them fall for each other and even though it’s not realistic that someone like Archie, who’s scared of commitment, makes a 180° change within a week, it worked in this book. At least for me. Like I said, Summer grew on me and I did like her, she understood what she did wrong and didn’t want anyone’s forgiveness, she knew she didn’t deserve that and that made her not only more likable but also showed some strong character growth and I’m all here for that.
Oh my Sweet heaven! Yet another book for the series and this time it’s the other twin. Camilla Isley has fast become a must-read author of mine. Her stories are packed with delightful characters, gorgeous settings, clever banter, and sizzling chemistry.
You can definitely read this book as a standalone but reading the fourth and fifth book will definitely get you in the mood for this book. We met Winter and Logan in The Love Quest and now they are getting married. Summer, Winter ‘s twin sister is not to excited about this wedding. She now has to face the past as well as her friends who have cut her out of their lives after she made a major mistake.
Archibald is Logan ‘s best friend and the best man. He is a bit of a player. He was introduced to us in the previous book, I have to admit I was excited that he was getting his own story! Archie end up with Summer and he know this is not going to make Logan and Winter very happy so they attempt to keep their relationship a secret.
The Love Proposal was just straight up fun and hot! I also loved the characters from previous books and all the fun events leading up to the big day. There was a touch of tension throughout the book. I was keeping my fingers crossed hoping that this couple could make things work.
This is a perfect book to read with you other summer reads!
Such a unique book, I loved the plot, and oh my god the characters were so amazing!! I definitely will be recommending it!!
Such a unique book, I loved the plot, and oh my god the characters we're so amazing!! I definitely will be recommending it!!
A cute quick read, but our FMC just felt flat to me. With all of the baggage she was carrying around, I think we could have seen her grow more throughout the story, but it almost felt like it happened overnight.
I enjoyed the banter and the relationship that develops between Summer and Archie, but it felt a bit rushed. The dual POV was fantastic, and being inside Archie's thoughts really pulled the story together. The premise and the opening made me think this book was going to be spicy, but I am glad that it wasn't. I feel like it would have taken away from the storyline. I think the tension and fade to black elements made the relationship between our MCs more relatable and tied with the previous books.
➳ arc rating: 4.8 ★
First of all, I want to thank the author, Bolewood Books and NetGalley for providing me with an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. The Love Proposal by Camilla Isley will be coming out on July 22nd, 2023.
Tropes and themes:
• Set in a wedding
• Friends with benefits
My review:
“I prefer thinking that to be in love is to lie in bed next to the other person without a care in the world and wishing you were nowhere else.“
Ah! I loved this so much! Even though Summer made a horrible mistake in the past, I liked that she was truly regretful of what happened and that even Lana forgave her. However, I found a bit weird that the epilogue was forty years later.
I didn’t know this was book 3 in a stand-alone series at first but I didn’t feel like it was necessary to understand the plot. Although there are major spoilers from previous books.
*This book has been previously published as You May Kiss The Bridesmaid and will be released under The Love Proposal on July 22nd, 2023.
First of all I could not get over the gorgeous cover! I love Camilla's books and this one was no exception. I love a good wedding themed book and it was so fun to watch a die hard bachelor fall in love! This book has me laughing crying and swooning and I know our readers will feel the same! Boldwood does it best!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC.
A few things fell flat for me:
1. I didn’t realize this was a book in a series, I felt a little lost with some background information on characters.
2. The cheating- it was a huge plot point and just didn’t sit well with me.
📖 ARC REVIEW 📖
Thank you @bookandtonic for an early copy of The Love Proposal by @camillaisley . I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. 🤍
The Love Proposal is a friends-with-benefits, wedding date romcom between Summer, Winter’s twin from Love Quest, and Archie, who honestly seems like the hottest and the chilliest dreamboat. Archie immediately thinks bridesmaid-and-best-man-with-benefits as soon as he meets Summer, but she has sworn off men after several failed relationships. But, they have one week together with all the wedding festivities, and what better way to spend it than with each other in bed?
🛑Read on with caution; review may contain spoilers🛑
This is so far the steamiest novel I’ve read written by Isley, and boy does she do it with a lot of spice! She writes the spiciest scenes and honestly made me think of Archie as the hottest dreamboat. While I wasn’t a fan of the cheating aspect of the story (refer to the previous books Love Theorem and Love Quest), I enjoyed Summer and Archie’s instant connection and chemistry. Their week of being friends with benefits to make Summer feel comfortable with being around people, friends and family after her mistake became her redemption at romance.
I would have loved to have Archie ponder more on his future with Summer since he was quite reluctant with getting married and having kids and all the commitment at first, but I loved the ending that came about his choice.
Rating The Love Proposal ⭐⭐⭐⭐ /5. his has been previously published as You May Kiss the Bridesmaid, and will be re-released under the title The Love Proposal on July 22nd, 2023.
I did not realize this was book number six in a series when I got it. However, I read it pretty easily for not having read any of the previous five.
The storyline is great, I wanted to dislike the FMC, because of what she did, but I was really unable to, especially when she explained why.
Oh, I liked it and I said I probably will go back and read the previous five that I missed and keep an eye out for any more upcoming .
Thank you to netgalley, the publisher, and the author for an ARC in exchange for a review.
Cute! A quick read! It’s the story to help redeem the villain from another of Isley’s books.
Some tension and humor. I relate to the part with the raisins! A couple things felt rushed and I don’t particularly like things about the MC cheating but overall I enjoyed.
Thank you NetGalley for the arc!
The Love Proposal is an updated version of You May Kiss the Bridesmaid by Camilla Isley. It is a redemption story featuring characters from The Love Theorem and Love Quest. The Love Proposal should be read after Love Quest.
Summer Knowles was referred to as “the evil twin” in The Love Theorem because she had an affair with her best friend’s fiancé, Johnathan. Summer is a sleek and polished girly-girl blonde bombshell, in contrast to her tomboy identical twin, Winter. Summer is a chemical engineer at a cosmetic firm, responsible for their foundation line. After she and her college boyfriend broke up, she was involved in two rebound relationships that ended badly. Summer decided to go to therapy and avoid romantic relationships. She is still dealing with the consequences of her affair with Lana’s fiancée.
Summer is serving as bridesmaid at her sister’s Napa Valley wedding, and she’s resentful that Lana was asked to be the Maid of Honor instead of her. Summer is also nervous about seeing old friends, because her actions caused a big rift within their friend group. When Archie Hill, the Best Man, offers to shield her from the others, she agrees.
Archie Hill is a commitment-phobe player who really enjoys romantic liaisons with women. He quickly discovers that Winter’s twin is much more his type, and he makes an effort to get to know her better. He convinces Summer to have a secretive friends-with-benefits affair during the week-long wedding festivities.
The Love Proposal is primarily Summer Knowles’ redemption story. She is truly sorry for her part in wrecking Lana’s relationship and accepts the social consequences. Summer is appreciative of Lana’s forgiveness, and the reader understands how Summer came to that place of betrayal. The wedding festivities were enjoyable to read about, and it was fun to watch Archie develop real feelings. It was especially gratifying to see Penelope Jones from The Love Theorem and Tucker from Love Quest start a relationship. I really look forward to Love to Hate You, the next story in the First Comes Love series.
I received an advance review copy (ARC) from NetGalley and Boldwood Books for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Summer has sworn off men. Archie has decided never to let a relationship become long term. When fate brings them together at the wedding of Summer’s sister Winter and Archie’s best friend Logan, it is lust at first sight. Summer realizes that Archie might just be the distraction she needs to make it through the scrutiny from her old friends and Archie is more than willing to assist. What they didn’t realize was that there may be more to their relationship than just a casual hookup. Will they be able to accept what’s right in front of them?
This was such a fun read! I loved that Summer finally got her “redemption” arc and we got to spend more time in her head and to understand her actions from the first two books. I also was so excited to finally get to focus on Archie after he was such a charmer in the last book. I felt like this was a truly believable pair and I appreciated that they didn’t rush into a haphazard patch, but rather made sure that they were both in a place to move forward with exploring a healthy relationship. My only complaint is that I feel like if I were Winter I would have approached my sister first about her new relationship to see where she was sitting emotionally, rather than immediately chastising my recently acquired friend. However, this didn’t really detract from the progression of the story and I wish I could have spent longer with these two to see how things settled after the wedding.
