A fun and easy to read romance although predictable it still didn't take away from my enjoyment. I enjoyed the second half of the book more than the first as I think that is when the story really builds. Ella has no idea about construction but she is willing to give it a go even if she is so out of her depth she can't find her way out. The characters are bubbly and likeable and the plot is predictable but sooo entertaining.

This was a very cute and quick read about Ella and her journey with starting over in a new town, with a new job, and then a new relationship with Noah. I enjoyed that the storyline flowed well and the pace of the book was good. I enjoyed Bella's storyline and her journey in starting over and finding the place she belonged. I liked this book and would recommend it to my friends to read as well!!

What a wonderful story about how good always wins! You need to take a chance on yourself and prove that you can make it. That is just exactly what Ella did. After her narcissistic boyfriend gets her fired from her job, Ella has to move on and get her life back in order. She does this with a little help from her new friends and her new guy, Noah! You must read this to enjoy how everything transpires!

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy of this book. All opinions are 100% my own.

As a woman who works in a career adjacent to the construction industry, I picked this book up as the concept and cover really intrigued me but I was left disappointed by the lack of ‘woman in construction’ that the title and cover suggests.

The first and second half of this book felt like two different books to me. The first half focusing on Ella, the MC, and her current boyfriend Lee ruining her career. The second half focused on Ella moving away and falling in love again, with very little reference to the first half of the book and the plots developed during this.

This book was an easy, short read but it did take me a while to get into it, as the first 50 pages were a little boring.

I loved this story so much!!
Ella's is determined to prove stick it to everyone who said she couldn't hack it as a construction site project manager. I love how she handled each of the challenges she faced. There's something great when character step out of their comfort zone and take on new experiences, it provides a great element to the story.
I love how helpful Noah is to Ella from the beginning. He wasn't bothered by a woman being in a position typically held by men. Noah was a bit "too nice" for me, he lacked depth for me.
If you prefer a less angsty, quick read this is the book for you.

Okay this was such a fun read! Very easy to get through, lovable characters (besides Lee of course) and even if the story was a bit predictable at times, it was predictable in the best way! This book felt like I was reading a hallmark movie! It was a concept I've never really heard of or read before, and I truly just loved it! It was a sweet romance!

Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an advanced copy to review. All opinions are my own!

Love At First Site is not a book with romance that won me over, but it is a book that overall I loved!!! The protagonist is so fun and is one of those characters that won me over from the first moment and I rooted for her throughout the reading, so I ended up getting more involved with the whole Deborah situation than with the romance with Noah, but that didn't bother me too much, because I really enjoyed the experience with the book. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc in exchange for an honest review!

Well, I can't say I've ever read a romance that references Gantt charts in the first chapter, but I kind of dig it!

Ella is a project manager at a software company, where she works with her secret boyfriend, Lee, who works in sales. When Lee leaves the company shortly after a major pitch, Ella's secret is revealed and she's assumed to have known about Lee's departure and his potentially ruining the pitch. Though she's cleared of that charge, she's let go and needs to find a new job. That job ends up being a project manager at a construction site. There, she's helped by the handsome foreman, Noah.

This is a sweet closed-door romance with good communication between the main characters (up until the third-act break-up!). Noah is definitely "one of the good ones" both on-site and in general, and his gentle guidance sets Ella up for success in her role. I'm also a big fan of romances set in locations, and with different careers, than the average book. This is definitely the case!

The strange lack of good communication in the break-up, as well as the fact that Lee has absolutely NO redeeming qualities dropped it down a star for me, but I definitely would recommend this for those looking for a cute contemporary romance. It's also a super quick read for those looking for one.

Love at First Site is a gentle British romantic comedy written by Phoebe MacLeod. I enjoy her books because she writes strong female characters who don’t let adversity get them down. The heroines eventually find better men than the ones who screwed them over.

32-year-old Ella Mackenzie is a rising star at Orchestra, a software developer in Leeds, England. She has worked there for five years in project management and is due a promotion when they win a contract with NHS. She supplies the data to a colleague, Lee, for the proposal presentation. When it’s announced that a competitor, harmony, has won the NHS contract, Ella learns that Lee, her secret boyfriend of three years, has abandoned Orchestra for a new job at Harmony. When HR investigates Lee, they discover Ella and Lee’s relationship and fire Ella because she violated their no-fraternization policy.

Ella is suspicious that Lee sabotaged Orchestra’s bid proposal, and she secretly records him confessing his actions. She temporarily stays with her parents while she re-groups and applies for a job as a Construction Project Manager out of desperation. When she moves to Ashford, a town in southern England, she informs Lee that their relationship is over, and he is responsible for their rent that is due. Meanwhile Ella’s sister, Ava, borrowed her phone and emailed Ella’s secret recording to Orchestra’s HR Department in an effort to clear Ella’s name.

When Ella arrives in Ashford, she is dismayed to learn that her company-provided housing is referred to by her colleagues as “the caravan of shit” because it’s in such horrible condition. Ella enlists the help of the attractive site foremen, Noah, to help her remove the nasty mattress and pick up a new one. She tackles cleaning the caravan and her new office, impressing Noah. She quickly figures out that her new manager, Deborah, is a construction clone of The Devil Wears Prada. Ella was set up for failure, but she is determined to fix the problems plaguing the construction site and quickly earns the respect of the all-male crew. Noah really takes Ella under his wing and invites her over to his fixer-upper house every weekend, under the guise of helping her overcome her fear of ladders.

Noah is the perfect male hero and makes Ella realize what a jerk that Lee truly was. However Ella is very gun-shy about having a romantic relationship with a co-worker. She has to decide if Noah is worth taking a chance on, and if she wants to stay in southern England away from her family.

Love at First Site is an enjoyable business-focused romantic comedy. The romance is mostly closed-door, ie there aren’t many graphic details. There is some mild cursing, mainly from frustration and what you would expect to hear on a construction site. A lot of British idioms are used in the story, but I was able to understand the intent. The crew foreman, John, adds a lot of humor to the story with his nicknames and stories, especially the romantic advice using vindaloo. I look forward to reading more books by this author.

Ella has it all - perfect flat, loving boyfriend, good job -until it all goes wrong. Suddenly she is single, homeless and unemployed, with her only option to move miles away from everything and everybody she knows.

This is a fun, sweet romance that I devoured in no time at all. An easy, enjoyable read!

Love at First Site is a cute story about Ella finding her way after ending a bad relationship and losing her job. She starts a new position in a different town where she meets Noah. I liked the chemistry between Ella and Noah but I thought the beginning of the story moved a little slow.

Oh so cute, light-hearted and thoroughly enjoyable!
A definite must-read for the summer!
I really, really enjoyed Love at First Site, I loved the whole concept of the plot, with the love being forged on or around a construction site, it's so normal and relatable. I am loving the romance between Noah and Ella, they are an adorable couple and was instantly invested in their story and fully backed them from the first page..
I really enjoyed watching Ella discover herself and her worth, how she grows and sees she is meant to be exactly where she is in life and I adore the support she gets from Noah, he respects her and helps her learn the industry.
Overall a sweet and engaging little story!

I am thankful to have been given the opportunity to read this ARC of Love at First Site by Netgalley! Unfortunately it was not my cup of tea. I did end up enjoying the last 3-4 chapters much more than the beginning, but overall I did not like the main character which made it difficult. I also discovered a few triggers that weren’t previously mentioned and therefore unexpected. I think a lot of people would love this book! It just wasn’t for me and that’s ok!

This book seriously made me laugh so much, the perfect romantic comedy. It’s set in the UK, so the jokes are so different, but I couldn’t stop laughing, Ella and her sister are the best. Ella losses it all when her now ex leaves the company for their competitor and leaves her hanging. She goes for a different type of job, thanks to her sister’s recommendation, and the men she works with were even funnier, I loved them all. Even the romance was sweet.

Thank you Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book.

A cute little story, with a great cast of characters. It is predictable, but to be expected of this genre.

A different sort of a romance that focuses on the journey of the fmc rather than the romance. There are some things I loved about this book and some things I didn’t enjoy.
I loved Ella and how she tackles everything that happens to her with bravery and class.
I loved the side characters and their banter with the leads.
Loved learning about project management from different perspectives.

This is the first romance I read where you get to see the relationship break down in such detail. Usually when you are reading you get the very end or just hear about what happened. In this book the first half is about Ella’s failing relationship with Lee. We don’t see any romantic interaction till 3/4 way through the book!
I really would have liked to see the relationship between Ella and Noah develop in more detail.
It was still a compelling read as long as you don’t put too much weight on the romance.

Thank you to the author, publisher and Netgalley for this arc in exchange for an unbiased review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When it starts out with Ella already in a relationship at a music company with the seemingly perfect life, you know something is bound to happen (plus the cover gives a foreshadow of what is to come). I love how the author builds the suspense of a new love and the friendship that is built. Just shows that there are still good guys out there.

Watching Ella rebuild herself after realizing the past relationship kept her from being her best self. I loved how she was able to prove herself on the construction site and win over the builders with her project management experience. You won’t want to put this one down in hopes love and good with prevail.
