This book moved a bit slow BUT it was a great read. I loved the dual povs. It did pick up. It scared me which is something I loved.
Let me just say, this book had all the twist and turns! So many things going on but it was so well written. I loved this book so much. I'm really look forward to reading more from this author. This truly was a great book.
I really wanted to like this one more than I did. The premise sounded so promising and I love Scotland, so I was excited for the story to be set there. I just did not gel with the writing style, so I struggled with it a bit.
For me, it just felt like there was a lot going on. Normally, I don't mind multiple POV's, but this story had 5 (I think, possibly 6) and it wasn't always clear which POV we were in. I prefer when each full chapter is dedicated to one character, which wasn't the case in this book. And with such short chapters anyway, I don't get why it wasn't one POV per chapter. I also didn't love that Alex's POV was in first person, while the rest were in third.
In that train of thought, I felt like we could have done with one less perspective and storyline. There was so much going on and it was a little confusing at times to keep it all straight. The whole Damian and Tina storyline was unnecessary in my opinion and felt unfinished. The whole Oliver/Lewis/Damian storyline also could have been left out for me. I also just didn't connect with any of the characters, so I wasn't invested in any of the storylines.
I will admit that I guessed the big twist at the end pretty early on, which I think took away some of my enjoyment. This is a pretty slow burn, with a big payoff at the end. Because I guessed the ending, I didn't get that jaw dropping payoff. But based on other reviews, a lot of people didn't see the twist coming and really loved it because of the ending.
Overall, I think this was a well written book, just not in a writing style that I personally enjoyed. I think it would be well suited for people who are newer to the thriller genre.
Thank you to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for an advanced copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion.
Omg!!! This is everything that you want in a thriller/ domestic noir. It did seem a bit slow to start off with but if you stick with it then it's got the most amazing ending. The twists are so masterfully plotted out and executed, the multiple povs give such a clear insight into the characters and it really was one of those books that you finish and just go..... wow!!!
This book had me in the edge of my seat, I was gripped after the first few chapters and did not expect each POV’s story to unravel the way it did!!
The twist at the end I am still thinking about, I didn’t imagine it would take the turn that it did… I also loved how the author was able to portray the emotions felt by Lewis and the Kennedy sisters, it really made me feel for them.
I absolutely loved this book and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good thriller!
"Three Sisters" had me completely stunned with it's oh-so-twisty surprise ending! It's a psychological thriller and certainly had me taking twists and turns I did not expect. The story has an interesting presentation: the reader thinks they know exactly what happened because we read about the murder in the beginning pages. But...there is so much more to the tale. As the pieces unfold, I found myself wondering about different possibilities but I didn't pick up on what was really happening until I was rather near the end of the book.
I'm always looking for good psychological thrillers that give me that shock factor, and O.J. Mullen did not disappoint. My only complaint was the amount of F-bombs. Personally, I don't think they added anything to the story. If anything, I felt the over abundance of swearing distracted from the plot. It's also good to note that even though this book has a Christmas holiday party, it's still entirely readable in summer. I read it in July, during a heat wave, and it didn't feel out of place.
A really dark thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed. Very well written and completely unpredictable too. A scary, yet realistic story somehow. Brilliant xx
CONTAINS SPOILERS!!!
although the first half of this book felt slow to me and hard to get through i loved the second half!! what happened to molly is very sad but the fact that sam (her twin) was the the one to plot revenge felt a little predictable albeit it made perfect sense. and during all of this Alex is fighting so hard for her marriage and dealing with breakdowns. it just tears me apart. now i did love the emotions and how raw they felt. this coupled with the plot twist at the end was a nice touch! maybe it’s the writing style but overall this book was a nice read.
thank you for this arc!!

This book tells the story of multiple characters connected by a fateful night when a pedestrian is hit and killed. The driver, Lewis Stone, is the founder of an up and coming clothing company on the verge of a big business deal. Molly, Sam, and Alex are three sisters who were enjoying a night out when one of them is hit and killed by the vehicle. One uses her grief to fuel revenge against Lewis Stone; the other tries to save a floundering marriage.
This book was a bit of a slow burn for me. The first half took effort to pick up and continue reading; the second half, as the pieces started coming together and stakes rose, was more enjoyable and I read in almost a sitting. I'm not sure I would categorize this as a thriller - it felt more like a character/drama kind of story than an edge of your seat/what will happen next kind of story. I was able to call one of the reveals from trying to puzzle out the tagline on the cover while reading. I'm not sure if I would have guessed it as quickly without it.
Overall and ok read, but not one I'd consider a must-read.

I was a really slow read for me. Following the different pov was quite a challenge at first.however it did pick up and what a twist at the end !! I didn't see that one coming, I do feel sad about Humm someone (without spoiling) and I got so angry as t another one.a great ending that makes it worth it.
One Fateful Night..
What should be a delightful Christmas tradition turns tragic in this slow burn novel of suspense. The Kennedy sisters have always done it, a Christmas night out together, the three of them all together enjoying each other’s company. Just as it should be. One fateful night everything will change and it begins with Lewis Stone. Carefully constructed and relayed from differing perspectives, a slow burn plot populated with a credible cast and buckets of suspense and with an underlying, ever present vein of menace this is a one sit tension fuelled read.
Although I found this to move slowly, it was a solid read. Goes back and forth from various points of views from all the different characters from this story about 3 sisters and how one night changed everything for them.
The ending came as a slight surprise - hence the 4 star review.
A good psychological thriller that had me invested in the characters and the story and what was going to happen,my only wish was that the character names appeared at the start of each chapter as did someones take a while to work out which one we were niw on etc,but all in all a good read and great ending
Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.
Thank you Boldwood Books and NetGalley for an early copy of Three Sisters. This was a verrrrrry slow burn but try to stick with it because the ending is a SHOCKER!!!!! I cried a few times regarding one sisters story but it took a lot of reading to say I really liked the book and I am glad I rode it out until the end.
Another standalone novel from this very versatile writer, this one took me a while to engage with the characters, and it was abit muddled at times. The first half of the story was slow to warm up but it came together at the end and finished with a bang. Not my favourite read from the author but still a good read overall.

Wickedly mesmerizing from the start to the finish, I can't guarantee that you will get a "warm and fuzzy" feeling after you read this novel, but I can ALMOST guarantee reading it will keep you planted in your chair until you have completed this novel. .
Three sisters, two of whom are twins, are as close as family can be - when the unimaginable happens and one of the three is cruelly taken forever from her sister's..
The level of intrigue and the number of secrets unveiled within this story are daunting, as is the labyrinth imagination of this talented author. I will definitely come back for more!
Until next time, dear readers, if you are brave enough to do so, consider for a moment, the secrets YOUR spouse, your siblings, your friends and other family members are keeping is from YOU?
This book is quite a confusing read you never know whos pov you are reading it from and the fact that most people have quoted it wrong on here makes me think I am not alone. Sam and Molly are twins and Alex the older sister wants revenge.
Great twist at the end but not enough to rescue this book for me. Sorry Thank you netgalley for the advance copy
Three Sisters was enthralling to me as I love books about sisters. I was really invested in the plot and concerned for each of the sisters. Molly’s subplot/story was especially devastating. I cannot imagine having to meet with a specialist doctor and make a decision like the one the other sisters were faced with. Dr Gupta was patient yet realistic.
It’s the first book my Owen Mullen for me, and I liked how gritty, twisty and real it was. Each sister was so different yet they had an incredible bond. The fact that two were twins was interesting to me since I was a twin too.
The book is harrowing, entertaining and utterly gripping.
Thanks to Owen Mullen, Rachel’s Random Resources for my eARC in exchange for an honest and voluntary review.
5 stars
The Kennedy sisters, Molly, Alex and Sam, have a Christmas tradition – a night out, just the three of them, sisters together.
Lewis Stone can’t face the work Christmas party, but as he’s one of the bosses, he has to put in an appearance. He leaves as soon as he can politely get away, ready for the holidays to begin.
These two events are about to align and this will change all their worlds.
What an enjoyable story. Sam and Molly are twins and Sam is the big sister, they love each other dearly and all have a strong bond between them. At Christmas the girls go for a night out but it is freezing and the roads and walk ways are frozen. Molly slips on the ice and their world is changed forever as she is struck by a car.
Lewis Stone's world is also about to change and what occurs will leave him half of the man he was before this particular night. Sam, Molly's twin can not accept what has happened and is determined to find out as much as she can about the man that as she sees it ruins their lives, she wants revenge.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, great characters that were portrayed realistically and who you really felt you got to know as the book progressed and an ending that was a satisfactory end to the book. Highly recommended. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the book, all opinions are my own.
