What a fun book to read, easy to read and follow, a great cosy with a bit of murder, a bit of excitement and lots of interesting suspects. And of course a twist and turn fro time to time.
A small town and Arden Carter is there to investigate a murder, and to protest her innocence. This is a book you can read in one sitting as it keeps your interest, is easy to follow and flows effortlessly. I really enjoyed it and found it quite enjoyable and entertaining.
A great read and thank you NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
New author for me. Loved reading this book I had a hard time putting it down. But I had to work. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
It's a cool small-town story. Arden is a cool character. It's full of twists and suspens. However I kinda guess the end a bit too early and it was a bit expected. But it was nice.
I am in love with this! I was hooked from the beginning and there were so many twists and turns that I was enthralled till the very end! I can't wait for more!!!! Love love love this.

The story centers around Arden Carter who is the owner of a culinary shop named Tartarus . When Arden is given a eviction note from James Campbell her landlord and one of the hated and powerful man in town, When Campbell ends and dead and Arden has no alibi she becomes suspect number one .
The story contains a great cast of supporting characters and the story holds the reader's attention . I look forward to seeing the growth of this character in future installations .

Murder mysteries are usually not my genre. I don’t think I have read one in a few years, to be honest. A recent conversation made me pick up this book. As the description of the book says, it is a small-town cozy mystery full of twists and turns.
The book is pretty short and it is pretty cozy. There is no gruesome murder (a description of it at least) or there is no heart-pounding chase or anything that will disturb the reader. It makes sure that you are comfortable while reading this and not scared of any small noise you may hear while reading the book.
The twists in the book are well-packed in such a short length and I have to give it to the writer for having multiple leads for the murder one after the other. I think the reader is not supposed to be so surprised when the murderer is revealed (at least I was not) but at least each suspect or lead seemed a possible enough fit for us to just keep waiting to know the conclusion of the mystery.
For me, this was a nice book to read in one go while commuting. It kept me hooked without being too anxious about it. Probably not a great read for those who read mysteries all the time.
Thanks to Scarlet Mansion and Netgalley for the ARC.
I don't normal read cozy murder mystery novels because I don't like the pace/lack of thrills. This book was only 60 pages so there was not much character development or deep plot. It was more - this is Arden a bakery owner, her best friend Teagen and her dogs. It was a nice easy mystery read but I was reminded why I typically go for thrillers.
Just had a chance to read Best Served Cold, a short cozy mystery novella by Scarlet Mansion, via NetGalley. Because it was so short there was very little in the way of character or plot development,
Main character, bakery owner Arden, falls victim to the town’s major property owner, who’s been busily handing out eviction notices as if they were candy. Later that night he turns up dead. Naturally, she decides to find out who killed him so she won’t be blamed.
After accusing several innocent people, she fails to spot the real killer until . . . well, I don’t want to spoil the whole thing for you :-)
If you’re looking for a light, quick cozy mystery read, give this one a try.
#BestServedCold #NetGalley is a fast paced cozy mystery that introduced me to a new author.
Arden is an interesting character, I like her, and I'm looking forward to reading more by this author.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.
A fast read suitable for limited reading time. Would have loved more descriptions but the story was good. Would be interested in reading the next. Thanks#netgalley and #ScarletMansion for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.
I wasn’t that impressed by this book. It’s very basic, child level writing. I felt like the characters are stock, take offs of the genre. Maybe good for someone just starting out in the genre. #BestServedCold #NetGalley
This was a quick read and is a decent start to a new series. While I love a culinary shop as the foundation, it could have used a little more work on the foundation and built out the descriptions and characters a bit more. Nothing wrong with that as it’s a first outing, but in order to get a solid following and keep the series growing, we need to know more about everyone and come to see them as friends we’d like to visit with again.
Looking forward to the second entry addressing most of the issues. It surely can’t be easy starting a new series and this. One is worth a read and a second shot!

Best Served Cold is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, offering a captivating blend of suspense, humor, and a touch of romance.
This was a very quick easy read. The story kept me guessing the entire time and there was a lot going on. The only thing I missed was description. Cause it was so short weeks get much of the settings or descriptions of people. I would gladly take a few more pages for that. I'd read the next one. thank you NetGalley for providing this ACR for my honest opinion.
