I don’t think anyone who reads the title or sees the cover of this book will have any doubts as to what it will be like. And all of their assumptions would be right!
“The Christmas Love Letters” is about Maddy whose life was rocked when her husband disappeared 6 years previously, leaving no trail but a lot of money troubles and, unknown to him, a pregnant wife. In the present day, Maddy has managed to claw her way back financially and be a wonderful mother to daughter Lyla. And she is also carer to her Great Aunt Ruthie who has always been more of a mother to Maddy than her biological one. However, when the handsome stranger Raff turns up on their doorstep, Ruthie is forced to own up to a secret she has kept for over 40 years. And Maddy has a chance at her own happiness, but her past is also always lurking in the background. Will everyone get a happy ending and will it be a happy Christmas?
Along with a lovely cast of characters, there are lots of wintry and Christmassy events. And while you can see some of the twists and turns coming a mile off and some of the language used in the more romantic scenes feels a bit clunky compared to the rest of the book, I don’t think any Moorcroft or heartwarming fiction fans will be disappointed. This is a wonderfully cosy read that is perfect for the run up to Christmas, preferably accompanied by a hot chocolate or a glass of wine!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read this book.

Another winner from Sue Moorcroft. This time she returns to Nelson's Bar, the fictional Norfolk coastal village seen in A Summer to Remember. The descriptions evoke North Norfolk, the characters are drawn and we get swept along by Maddie and her family's problems.
Just right for curling up in front of a fire while the winter weather blows outside.

wow This story is really very special! I enjoyed the characters and the setting and I have to say I have been thinking about the story ever since I finished it. Absolutely amazing!
I thought the relationship between Maddie and Aunt Ruthie was really special as well and enjoyed the mystery throughout!

What a lovely and moving book. This book had all the Christmas feels, and so much love.
I loved the idea of the love letters being kept and read over and over again, Ruthie and Nigel had a love that just couldn't be, but they found a way to always be in each others lives. Raff and Ffion were great, they took the news about their dad and Ruthie well and the reunion between Ruthie and Ffion was so movng.
The other story line of Maddy and Adey was really quite clever and had me hooked. Just when you think you know what's going to happen, then a curve ball is thrown. The trip to Cornwall really was unexpected. Layla was a great character, a six year old child with a big heart and a good head on her shoulders. I loved her enthusiasm.
The Christmas magic still happened, even if it was getting close to midnight, I was so happy for Maddy and Raff. I loved reading this, and I was sucked in right from the start. A wonderful Christmas read about family and love.

I really enjoyed this book whilst I started and found I kept wanting more!
I loved reading something based from (supposedly) near where I live and how magical it is in the snow, I wish we had snow that often!
An enjoyable Christmas read that gets you ready for the Christmas period. I would say it’s more of a 3.5 star book for me :)

Maddy Cracey lives in a small coastal village in Norfolk with her small daughter Lyla, and her great aunt Ruthie.
Maddy is a carer for Ruthie, tables now turned as Ruthie was there for Maddy after her husband Adey mysteriously vanished one snowy night.
Things are about to change when a stranger named Raff calls to see Ruthie, with a bundle of old love letters.
I totally enjoyed reading this heartwarming book. I loved the characters in it, Maddy and her generous and thoughtful loving nature. Her sweet daughter Lyla, and Ruthie. A lovely mix of characters exploring and examining relationships, family life, and empathy and feelings.
I found this the perfect book to curl up with and shut out the world.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Publisher for an advanced e-book copy. Opinions about the book are entirely my own.

Thanks to the Publisher and Netgalley for an early review copy.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
Seven years ago Maddy’s husband left, without knowing that she’s pregnant, and no one knows what happened to him,
Since then, she’s and her daughter Lyla have lived with her aunt Ruthie at Nelson's Bar.
One day Ruthie has a visitor, Raff, bringing her past with him in the form of the love letters he has with him.
I loved the characters and the setting, the story was well-written.
I highly recommend this book.

I delved into this latest Christmas story from Sue Moorcroft and wasn't disappointed. In fact, I was surprised at the unusual story of a wife whose husband has been missing for nearly 7 years. Her story entwined with her Great Aunt's was delightful and I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. It was a page turner. Her Great Aunt Ruthie's life story unravelled with Raff turning up on the doorstep, announcing he is the brother of Ffion who is Ruthie's daughter given up for adoption in the past. The story behind that and the story of Maddie and her missing husband Adey all entwine and climax at Christmas. I really enjoyed this book and can see myself recommending t to other Christmas story lovers and purchasing it for Christmas gifts. Thank you Netgalley and Sue Moorcroft.

I absolutely loved this book such a heartwarming story a must read for anyone that likes a Christmas read although this is my first book by this author I do have another Christmas read by her on my pile to read so I'm now looking forward to that one easy 5 stars

I’m usually a massive fan of Sue Moorcroft’s books and whilst I did enjoy this one, I didn’t love it. Yes the plot line was good and it had some adorable characters but I felt it was quite drawn out in places and could have been wrapped up much quicker. I know I’m in the minority with this but whilst it is a well written warm-hearted festive read, it wasn’t one for me. Thank you to NetGalley, Avon Books UK and the author for the chance to review.

Another outstanding book from Moorcroft and amazing characters that you can't help but adore. As usual I was pulled in and never wanted to leave.

A lovely Christmas read that has made me want it to be a bit nearer. A book about forbidden love, huge secrets and misunderstandings, Maddy and her daughter Lyla live in Nelsons Bar with her Great Auntie Ruthie and life after this Christmas will never be the same again for any of them.
Sue Moorcroft Christmas books are always worth waiting for with familiar places and plenty of festive food as well as a sprinkling of snow. A fantastic book for when you want to snuggle up with a hot chocolate.

A beautiful story of lost loves, found families, a disappearing husband, and of course the love letters that were discovered after the death of Ffion's father.
I truly moving story involving one family and a lifetime of love!
A must read!!

A lovely feel good Christmas read but a bit of a rollercoaster along the way!
My thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC of this book.

Maddy's husband Adey disappeared one snowy night nearly seven years previously, leaving her to struggle both mentally and financially bringing up their daughter in her own. Living with her great aunt Ruthie as her carer things are thrown into turmoil by the arrival of a stranger carrying some old love letters.
I really felt for Maddy, struggling on her own as a single parent with little support. Raff gives an interesting insight into how a book develops in the writers mind, but comes across as a complicated character - which is probably true of many of us readers. I've not been to Norfolk in the winter, it manages to feel both bleak and beautiful, but there is that community feel in the village. The run up to Christmas sets the scene for the book, but made me glad that I was sitting in my nice, warm home with the snowy scenes being something that I'm not used to. A thoughtful story for those who enjoy more depth in their books.
I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.

In The Christmas Love Letters, Sue Moorecroft tells a fascinating story with a past romance told through old love letters and a new romance as a result of the letters being found.
Maddie, her daughter Lyla, and her Great Aunt Ruthie live in a remote area on the coast of Norfolk. When Maddie’s husband disappeared almost seven years ago, he left her with a mess. She has managed to dig herself out of the hole by moving her and Lyla in so she could be Ruthie’s caregiver. Life follows the same routine until the day there is a knock on Ruthie’s door by a gentleman with a stack of love letters.
Raff has letters that he and his sister found cleaning out their dad’s home and he thinks they are from Ruthie. Maddie is protective of Ruthie and her fragile health. But as she tries to help Ruthie, much will be exposed, upended, and put back together in an entirely different way.
As Maddie and Raff grow closer, she begins to receive mysterious messages. I loved the mystery of who is sending the messages along with the stories told through the love letters from the past.
Thank you to NetGalley and Avon Books UK for an eARC in exchange for my honest review.

I’m a huge Sue Moorcroft fan so was looking forward to this lovely feel good Christmas book. It has all the festive ingredients whilst also showing the different types of love that exist between the characters. Grab a cosy spot and a hot chocolate and enjoy!

I really loved this book as I do with every book by this author. An old and a new love story and the mystery of a disappeared husband.
Maddy lives with her aunt Ruthie and when a stranger Raff appears at their door with a bunch of old love letters belonging to Ruthie they both are shocked.
Ruthie's love story is heartbreaking where she loses something precious to her.
Maddy's new love story is overshadowed by the mystery of what happened to her husband.
A lovely warming story to read before Christmas with a glass of wine and some chocolate.
Sue Moorcroft never ever disappoints.
And it's 5 stars from me !

Fantastic Christmas novel from Sue Moorcroft. I really liked the characters and the setting and loved how the past and present collided. Great read.
