Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks UK for the early access to this ARC. I loved this Rom-com for me was easy to ready and easy to enjoy. Nola is transported 7 year in the future, he find out he got everything he dreamed for but NO love, I loved the magic realism in it, I loved that I giggle and went like aww in some parts his relationship with his bestfriend. The author create a easy like character and that sound pretty simple but now days is very rare, was proper paced, fun, sweet, I can’t wait to red something else of the autor.
Rounded up from 4.5.
I grew up on the time jump rom com genre so I was excited to read this. And let me say it did not disappoint! The story was so cute and the Nolan and Drew are wonderful (well by they end at least).
I'm very impressed by the author's ability to write an awful character and still have me root for him. And it was a great redemption arc.
This is a beautiful, funny story about finding out what's important in life.
Only criticism is that it's mentioned a few times that the main character had ADHD and there are a few things that he does that support that but I'd like to have just seen a bit more.
This is one of the easiest 5 stars I've given so far this year.
This was such a delight to read.
If you've ever enjoyed a late 90s, early 00s romcom, you are absolutely 100% guaranteed to adore this. It was basically everything good about those types of movies, but gayer.
I could totally imagine it as a movie full of songs from that era, and I'm here for it.
It started set in 2023, where Nolan Baker is 23, and will sacrifice anything if it means making it as a comedian. He makes some bad choices, and when one day he goes to sleep in 2023 and wakes up in 2030, things have gone from bad to worse.
He's been vile in the seven years he's been missing, and basically fallen out with everyone to achieve success - and he hates who he's become and who he's lost along the way.
It's magical and so addictive all the way through, if a little predictable - but I didn't mind that. It was super cosy and super nice to read, and I had a smile on my face all the way through.
Dylan was just adorable - he worked so well as the love interest for Nolan. He was an interesting character, and I loved him being all bookish and cute.
Nolan is so well written - he has some really good character growth throughout the book (as you might expect from this type of plot) - but it doesn't fall flat at any point. His growth and change is really natural and really believable.
There's also some steam in this book - it's not particularly graphic in its descriptions, but it doesn't fade to black either- which makes it very accessible to different kinds and different ages of readers, in my opinion.
I can't recommend this enough, a proper unputdownable treat that I could see myself reading over and over again.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. This is my honest review
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks UK for approving my request to read an arc of this book
I loved Timothy Janovsky’s debut book Never Been Kissed and so I was excited for his third book and first adult novel. This book was really good and while it was predictable, it was predictable in a comforting way and I liked that about this book. There were life lessons and laughs along the way and I’d definitely recommend it.
Content warnings- mature content, mentions of misuse of drugs and alcohol.
It's been a while since I've really enjoyed a contemporary romance novel, but 'New Adult' really delivers on its promises.
I loved this much more than I expected to, and more than Janovsky's debut--it's clear they've really developed as an author and this reflects beautifully in his writing style, which was a highlight of this novel.
I loved the message of it too, and the way in which Janovsky manages to develop an unlikeable character and make him likeable. Though it may seem like a cheesy plotline at the outset, it is very cleverly developed and done in a way that I think works remarkably well.
Overall, I thought this was a lovely romance of second chances and strong relationships, with properly fleshed out characters and a strong writing style.
