This is a decent, quick guide if you're looking to dip your toes in or just need a quick refresher. I loved the art of the cards that were paired with their meanings, and it's definitely a deck I'll be checking out! What I liked most about this was actually in the back - where you can truly dive deeper into the tarot's personal connection to you with a little extra guidance. The added questions with space to answer are excellent for a novice reader. The insights exercise section goes even deeper, and I liked this approach to help build deeper connections to the cards, and is one I may use despite reading for many years.
This wasn't the right book for me. Perhaps I've read too many books about tarot. I don't know. This might work better for people new to tarot.
I received an ARC from Netgalley
This beautifully designed tarot guidebook provides detailed interpretations for each card of the Major Arcana, including the four elements associated with each card. The author also delves into the Minor Arcana and Court cards, offering sample readings and a guide sheet for beginners. The book is easy to understand and visually appealing, making it a great resource for those looking to learn how to read tarot cards.
This is a lovely redesign of the traditional tarot deck featuring more inclusive representations for some major cards. These cards are redesigned with detailed explanations and include prominent figures such as W.E.B DuBois and Maria Montez, among others.
THE KNIGHT-WAITE TAROT Guidebook is a modern Tarot deck paying homage to Paula Colman-Smith the illustrator of the classic Rider-Waite Deck. Smith was a woman of color and this deck adds diversity to the classic deck in both race, gender and sexulaity. It makes the deck more inclusive and modern, even though the illustrations still have a vintage vibe. You can tell Knight-Waite loves tarot and its history and wants to make it welcoming to all.
As an experienced tarot reader, I agreed with many of the interpretations in this book, but also gained some insights into some new ideas. There are sample readings, spreads, information on the famous figures featured in the deck and journal prompts.
A great addition to a tarot collection.
As someone who loves collecting decks and reading about the Tarot, I really enjoyed this wonderful book, offering new insights and adding a new spin, as well, to an old standard. Very well done !!
I loved reading the out this book and learning more about the cards.
This is a lovely gift for someone interested in tarot.
Great and Beautifully Designed Tarot Guidebook
The author discusses her early childhood in relation to her introduction to tarots and provides some background information on tarots, tarot readings and a few suggestions on reading your tarot cards.
She discusses each card of the Major Arcana beginning with The Fool and ending with The World. In discussing each card, the author provides a strong interpretation for each card and elaborates further on each card's meaning. Additionally, she provides the reversed meaning for each card. When pertinent, she discusses the four elements one will need to conjure their dreams. You will see this, for example, when The Magician card is revealed, thus, she provides the following qualities for each of the four elements as provided below:
1. Fire = Passion
2. Water = Emotion, Empathy, and Intuition
3. Earth = Practical Skills
4. Air = Intellect and Ideas.
The author provides very detailed meaning for each card, including the Minor Arcana and the Court cards. As an added bonus, the author provides sample card reading and a guide sheet, with prompts as to what questions you may ask. I truly feel this is a magnificent book for beginners. The meanings are written in such a manner that one can easily comprehend. To to top it off, the deck of cards are so beautifully designed and very colorful in a somewhat unique fashion.
I highly recommend this book for anyone desiring to learn to read tarots.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the free copy in exchange for a review!
This book was stunning and such a great read for beginners to read about tarot. I loved how easy it was for me to navigate and I loved the inclusion of the workbook pages at the end of the book!
4 ⭐️
As someone who picked up a Rider-Waite Tarot deck on a whim and has no clue what any of the cards mean or what I am supposed to do with them, I greatly appreciate this book.
The explanations of the cards are easy to follow and understand and the workbook-esque pages at the end are very helpful for practice.
I can’t say I am too fond of the design of the cards but that is just a matter of personal taste.
**Thank you, NetGalley and Nicholas Brealey US, John Murray One for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.**
What a beautiful book - not something I have much experience with but it was fascinating and has certainly piqued my interest. The illustrations are stunning and the information clear and easy to understand. Definitely a book that needs to be a hard copy though.
Thanks to NetGalley, the author and publisher for the preview copy.
With brief descriptions and definitions of each card how to deal them what they mean and some practical advice to go along with it this book is prime for the Novis Terot card reader. At the beginning there’s even a website to get your own professional reading and or psychic messages. Whether you believe in the mystic or not there still oodles of common sense and practical advice for such things as addiction abuse victims of narcissist and much more I found this book way more interesting than I thought I would definitely recommend it. Even if you want to do a card reading for party tricks you should still read this book to know how. I think the author sounds like a very nice person and I thoroughly enjoyed this book and a walk on the different side. I want to thank the publisher and NetGalley for my free arc copy please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.
This was a fairly solid tarot guidebook. I've read a few now, and while this one doesn't offer "new" information, I did like that it included a journaling spot at the end with questions to think about.
The Knight-Waite Tarot Guidebook is a fascinating exploration of tarot. Highly recommend for those interested in the metaphysical.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and the updated and new take on the deck was really refreshing. I particularly loved the new deck itself, and the images were wonderful. This book was a new take on a solid and well-known deck.
This is a very solid book. Meticulously written and designed I was smitten after seeing Oscar Wilde decked out as the King of Swords in the opening pages. I hope this book reaches a wide audience. There are just so many books in the market. I was surprised to hear a popular tarot personality say they have sold 14 thousand books. That’s great but I thought it would be even more.
THE KNIGHT- WAITE TAROT GUIDEBOOK is fabulous! After reviewing this I preordered the book and the cards as well. The book is a fun and fresh take on the old standard deck, however it's not so different that you need to reacquaint yourself with the cards. There are full-size page pictures of each card with the corresponding meanings on the page next to it. In the back of the book there's the history of each person on the cards. The artwork is just beautiful. This book would make a great gift for the as well as the seasoned tarot reader.
This is such a unique deck aesthetically, and I also really love how diverse the cards are. I especially like that there are three options for the lovers card. The spreads in the back of the book were nice and I particularly enjoyed the template pages to keep track of readings for future reference.
It’s always a good thing to gain different perspectives and understandings. As a long time Tarot reader I have a good understanding of the cards, but I enjoy learning more from others and finding different perspectives and meaning I may have missed or overlooked.
This is a really wonderful book, whether you are a beginner or an experienced reader.
The detailed notes and questions for each card are really helpful and encourage looking at the cards in different ways.
The back of the book containing different spreads and journal questions are a wonderful bonus.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read and review this book.
I would like to thank Nicholas Brealey US and NeGalley for providing an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review!
As someone who loves tarot, this was a joy to read! Well thought out descriptions of each card with brilliant illustrations to match?! What an awesome read.
