I loved every little thing about this book from the gorgeous cover to the characters. The story was amazing and I would recommend
A brilliant read and one I really enjoyed. The characters are loveable and varied, the plot is one that is engaging and medium paced. I found myself completely drawn into the story and enjoyed the writing style.
I really loved Debbie’s other novels. However because I read that one it had held higher standards but it doesn’t change the fact that this novel did have a delightful village. It did feel too much like a hallmark movie though. The initial setting was a bit odd and I just couldn’t click with it personally.
I loved the setting of Starshine cove- a place you can only stumble across by chance- somehow missed off the maps and full of lovely and welcoming people (and a great bakery!)
Lots of lovely characters who bring the setting to life and the ubiquitous dashing man of the piece does not disappoint!
Overall a lovely way to while away an afternoon.

Wow this book felt like a warm hug. It was soooo cute and cozy and heartfelt. It was also surprisingly hilarious! I was smiling the whole way through. I fell in love with every single character and will absolutely be reading the next book(s) in the series. I love all the cozy UK vibes so much. I just need Starshine Cove to be a real place 🥲
Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this copy in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley and Storm Publishing for the advance copy of this fabulous read.
I loved meeting the new characters at the lovely Starshine Cove especially Larry the dog. What a fantastic introduction to a brand new series.
This sounds like such a lovely place to visit.
It was the first book I've read by Debbie and I loved it! Such a nice easy read and a good story. I'll definitely be reading more from this author.
A fabulous read that really highlights many peoples journey after the covid 19 pandemic. A fantastic read about love, loss, grief and the importance of good friends and good community

can’t wait for book two to follow this adventure
I absolutely loved this gorgeous book by Debbie Johnson. I thought it was really interesting to see the effect that the pandemic and its demands had made on a doctor, and how that mental and physical exhaustion impacted on her.
Ella is also grieving but hasn't really allowed herself to accept that grief or deal with it. Without meaning to she's pushed away her boyfriend, and now finds herself alone, homeless, and jobless, spending her days driving to who knows where in a desperate attempt to escape her life.
By a twist of fate she ends up in Starshine Cove, a magical little place on the Dorset coast that can't even be found on any maps. Befriending a stray dog who looks more like a lamb and is therefore nicknamed Larry, she decides to stop running for a little while and rest and recover in the local pub, run by Jake.
Before long, Ella has been welcomed into this close-knit community. But will her demons allow her to stop running?
I had lots of sympathy for Ella, who I thought was a fascinating character. I quickly warmed to Jake - in fact, it was impossible not to like the other residents of Starshine Cove. They're all so lovely!
I thought the stones in the cave and the way it lit up in the moonlight was a gorgeous touch, and I definitely wished I could magically find this amazing place for myself. I look forward to my next visit to Starshine Cove.
When Ella finds her boyfriend receiving a lap dance in their spare room from his PA, she knew it was time to change her lifestyle, taking the car, she drives to nowhere in particular and ends up in Starshine Cove with a stray dog in tow.
This was such a lovely book. I am now looking for a holiday let in Starshine Cove.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for giving me the opportunity to read this book in return for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. Ella's disillusionment after facing COVID as a doctor and re-discovering herself in a small coastal town is exactly the kind of escape I am looking for as a reader. This also was paced very well - I was able to keep up with it but also put it down and step away. I would whole-heartedly recommend this one to any fans of "chick lit" or fans of Debbie Johnson.
Absolutely adored this book. It was the first I've read by this author, but it had everything - the feels, the characters, the location, the heartbreak, the doubting oneself, the sense of community, the warmth. It was quite simply a lovely story and has made me download more of the author's books. Debbie Johnson will now be a go-to author for me.
This is my first Debbie Johnson book and I absolutely love the cozy country, small town story. This is definitely a book to listen or read after you've read something heavy or dark and need dose of sunshine. I love the characters in this book and the pacing is good. It's especially nice to listen to on audio. I'm going to start Debbie's Comfort Food Cafe series because I liked this book!
Thank you to Netgalley for a copy of the book in exchange for my very honest opinion!
I have read all of Debbie Johnson's books in the Comfort Food Cafe Series and was so excited to pick up her new book Escape to Starshine Cove. It does not disappoint. It is like a warm hug and feels like coming home again.
Johnson does such a great job creating warm interesting characters that you become invested in.
Starshine Cove follows Ella, a doctor that has come through the challenges of the pandemic a little worse for wear. She arrives home early after calling in sick to work to find her partner in bed with his personal assistant. This sends Elle reeling and she takes off in his Mercedes for point unknown. One of the last happy places Elle remembers visiting was Cornwall, and so she sets her course. She runs into some car trouble and finds herself with a stray dog she adopts and stumbles upon Starshine Cove.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this endearing book. I hope there are more in this series to come!

A heartwarming seaside romance novel, Escape to Starshine Cove follows Ella Farrell from her high-stakes medical job in London to Starshine Cove, a sleepy and small town in Dorset. Starshine Cove, however, is more than meets the eye, and Ella may have stumbled upon it just in time for herself. Debbie Johnson’s latest book is a modern romance set post-pandemic and is an overall feel-good story. The characters (including Starshine Cove itself) steal the show in Escape to Starshine Cove, from Ella, Jake, and Connie to Larry the Lamb (who is actually a dog). The characters are heartwarming and kind, as if they are also welcoming the reader to the book and to Starshine Cove. Johnson’s setting is charming, memorable, and vibrant, benefiting from her skill in worldbuilding and character creation, and Starshine Cove has a personality of its own. With some challenging or potentially triggering topics briefly mentioned throughout the book, Johnson handles them deftly, and she does not include them in a graphic way (only as a plot point that occurred pre-book). Escape to Starshine Cove is a fun, lighthearted, summer read that brings the reader away from the hustle and bustle of cities into the calming, tranquil, and beautiful English seaside.
The sort of book that makes you want to uproot and start life all over again! Really pleasant characters, lovely descriptions of the cove and a gentle story, what’s not to enjoy?! Feet up and settle down with this book, you won’t regret it!
Thank you to NetGalley and One More Chapter for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I have never read a Debbie Johnson book, and this gem is nothing but Hallmark-summer-seaside. Really makes me want to uproot my life in London to pursue a small town village life with a dog. The setting is richly described and colourful and I loved reading about the community of slightly overbearing but likeable characters. There are deeper themes of mental health and healing throughout, but this adds to the feel-good vibes of the story. Not to mention, a slow burn romance with Mr Local Hottie. I will definitely be picking up more of her books after this one!
