Damaged Ex-Con Billionaire was an interesting story for me. I enjoyed learning Don and Margot's Story. Seeing them grow & come into their own, both individually and together had me unable to put this down. However, there were some aspects of how it was written that were problematic for me and would pull me out of the story. The writing style didn't flow very well and felt clunky at times, almost as if it was pieced together. The spicy scenes in particular gave this feeling. While not my favorite read, I would still be interested in seeing more from this author.
2.5 Stars rounded up.
Damaged Ex-con Billionaire follows Dom, an ex-convict that took the fall for his best friend, and Margot, a California transplant that is trying to rebuild her life after a long-term toxic relationship. Despite all of the cards being stacked against them, their intense attraction keeps pulling them together.
I had a hard time with Dom and Margot's relationship, it seemed rather toxic. There wasn't much of a romance, just them fighting constantly, then saying sorry or ignoring the fights and having makeup sex. The book itself was a very easy read and there were some sexy parts that I enjoyed. There is a lot of dirty talk, so if that is not something you are into then you might not want to pick this one up.
Overall, I think that the blurb does this book an injustice. In the blurb it makes it seem like the main big conflict would be Dom dealing with his PTSD from prison, but it barely comes up at all. Overall, this was an OK story. Due to the shortness of the novel, I would read this author again.
Loved everything about this book! Loved it so much that I finished it in a couple of hours.
Dom was locked up for 3 years and when he gets out, he runs into a teen, Brayden, that will change his whole life. Dom is ready to make something of himself since he was gone for 3 years but it’s not easy returning back home to San Diego.
Margot moves from Florida to follow her dreams of being an actress but to also get away from her toxic ex.
Watching how Margot and Dom were there for each other bringing hope, life, motivation and support to each other lives was beautiful to read about.
I really enjoyed watching how Dom was so great with Brayden like a father figure he could look up to and confine in.
I won’t spoil too much but the ending was absolutely beautiful. I was happy with how everything turned out for for Dom, Margot, Brayden and Jesse.
Thank you to NetGalley EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts.
Thank you NetGalley and summer hunter for the ARC version of Damaged Ex-con Billionaire.
The book overall was fantastic. I loved the storyline, loved the characters and loved the outline. Margo and Don’s romance was sweet and tender and a little hallmark-esk in a good way!
I am only taking away one star for the romantic scenes. There was no build up, no foreplay or longing. It was there and then it was gone and I just wish there was a smoother transition for the level of good smut it had.
