Romance and mystery with great characters. Very enjoyable.
Many thanks to the author and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

Great read, everyone loves a bad boy book but a bad girl book is even better! When Molly comes home and has to save her brother, well shooting the sheriff is justified when it comes to family! But when that sheriff is the man of her dreams, well a girl has to do what a girl has to do!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own

What’s not to love with Carla Swafford’s Living A Small Town Hero. JT, the local sheriff, is very yummy and Molly has spunk. This is a good story about small town living, family that sticks together, and a little mystery solving.

Sadly this wasn't quite for me. It might just be that this authors writing style just doesn't quite gel with what I enjoy. I had suspense, twists and again a million other things thrown in. I will say these are quick reads so maybe if your looking for something to break up a series or something then maybe give this a try?

A decent suspense/romance. Quick and easy read that I enjoyed. I also liked the multiple storylines intertwined and the side characters brought in. Can be read as a standalone but would definitely be easier to understand if you have read the previous book in the series

This book was ok. I did not particularly enjoy the characters at all and I did not enjoy the relationships. The writing was ok - shoved a lot of information in a short amount of pages.

2.5 Stars rounded up.

Loving A Small-Town Hero follows Molly and J.T., the once FBI agent, now sheriff. Molly is back in town, after swearing she would never move back, to help her beloved little brother pull himself out of trouble and alcohol. Only problem is that as soon as she arrives he is arrested under suspicion of murdering a cop by none other than J.T., her adolescent crush. She insists that her brother is innocent and when another body shows up, they team up to investigate. But what happens when they change their relationship to a strings-free hookup?

I was really excited to read J.T.'s story after "Loving the Small-Town Preacher's Son", and the plot of this book itself was really great. That being said, I could not get a hang on Molly. Her personality was all over the place, almost like she was bipolar. It felt at times that I was reading about a completely different person. It could be because I am not Southern....but I don't really think so. Molly's family is awful, but you are somehow supposed to root for them? The character's personalities and backstories just did not lineup or mesh, which is why this book has a lower rating for me.

That said, it was a quick read and super sexy. The best parts of the book were when Molly or her parents were not talking. This romance had a really great mystery plot happening in the background and I loved the side characters arcs more than the MCs. Overall, I think a lot of romance lovers will like this book as a spicy romance if nothing else.

Sheriff J.T. Rogan is looking for a murderer that isn't accused of the crime. J.T. is also very aware that Molly Hicks is back in town after five years of being gone. Molly has been in love with J.T. Rogan since she was a teenager but is the attraction mutual? When another murder takes place. J.T. tries to protect Molly. Who are the killers? Find out in Loving the Small-Town Hero.

Loving The Small Town Hero by Carla Swafford is the second book in the series.

Molly Hicks has returned home, and it seems all hell has broken loose in her small hometown of Sand City, Alabama. Her brother has been arrested for murder of a local deputy, and her parents want her to distract the Sheriff into letting him go. And she might have accidently shot the Sheriff. She's mortified. After all the years that she has crushed on J.T. Rogan now she's caused him the slightest pain. All she wants is for him to finally see her as a desirable woman. As the last five years trying to forget him obviously didn't work.

Sheriff J.T. Rogan is dealing with so many fires that he's not sure where to start. There's definitely something off in town when two unexplained deaths occur in less than a week. There seem to be shadows lurking with connections coming from the most unexpected places. One thing stands out, J.T. is tired of fighting his attraction to Molly. What begins as no strings quickly morphs into more, but these two strong-willed people are the worst at expressing themselves. Then danger escalates when the dust settles, leaving behind answers, secrets revealed, and hearts intact.
