Turned into a great read! How the towns bad boy, who happens to be the preachers son, meets the love of his life. Throw in a mobster or two and some other unexpected people and you won’t want to put it down!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
A charming romance with strong and intriguing characters.
Many thanks to the author and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.
This sadly didnt quite hit it for me. Now the idea really could have worked but there was simply too much that was thrown into this book (including the kitchen sink).
A decent enough read if your looking for something quick with romance thrown in. A decent enough storyline however, there was so much going on at all times that it got quite confusing in places. Also a lot of storylines that were never concluded which marks this book down.
I must say that i got intrude with this book. A narrative that depicts reality in its full capacity.
PRECISE AND INFORMATIVE
Although i am tempted to ask - "What is your source of inspiration to lay down a piece like this?"
I hope u pardon me for this inquisition but my curiosity got the best of me.
The writing style of the author is ok as are the characters and their relationships. It had a lot of information shoved into the book very quickly and for that I was a bit overwhelmed.
This is for you if you like a great deal of sex in a dangerous situation and aren’t too bothered about the plot.
I found this almost impossible to read because of the sheer amount of plot holes and nonsensical behaviour.
Mary Hayden Hightower moved to Sand City to escape her life in Las Vegas. Mary is keeping a secret that nobody knows about or so she believes. Luke Blackwood has trouble written all over him as the town's bad boy. Luke is hoping that his work for Mary will get more jobs like it. When Mary receives an unexpected phone call, she turns to Luke for help. Can Luke really help Mary? Will Mary given to her attraction to Luke? Find out in Loving the Small-Town Preacher's Son.
This book was all over the place. I'm not really sure where to start. Mary moved from Vegas with her mom to escape her past. She's trying to live a "normal" life. She's not looking for any serious connections and definitely not with the bad boy in town, Luke. But honestly, I never got bad boy vibes off him at all, more like he's got a temper and one person out to ruin his life. And that animosity from the other person was never fully explained, so it didn't sit right. Then the past rears its ugly head, and Mary and Luke figure while danger lurks is the best time to hook up. It's was a slow build, with some definite wandering and a roller coaster finish.
This is a great read. It is a romantic suspense. I enjoyed the mystery and the sweet romance. I really enjoyed Thus book.
Loving the Small-Town Preacher's Son is an erotic story about an ex-con and an ex-showgirl, and how they navigate a newfound love and a murderous mob boss. Luke has been a bad boy since before his mother died. Being the preacher's son comes with a lot of expectations, ones that he actively tries not to live up to. But could Mary, who has her own demons, heal him? Mary herself is running away from her old life and the mob boss that had her husband killed. When the boss former boss shows up demanding the evidence her late husband left her as blackmail, she turn to Luke for protection and to help her navigate this sticky and dangerous situation. What could possibly go wrong in this sexy thriller?
Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was what the blurb promised it to be: erotic, thrilling and romantic. I do love myself a protective bad boy, and that is Luke. If you love a good, sexy romance with an overprotective alpha and a bit of a thrilling mystery thrown in then this is the book for you!
That said, the thriller part of the book is definitely the secondary story. It was pretty obvious from the get go what was going on. Also, I know this is an erotic romance, but these two would have sex at the most inappropriate times that just made you question how intelligent they really were. I mean you have a C4 loving mob boss gunning for you and you spend 12 hours having crazy sex? There priorities are a bit off, I would say.
But if you are in it for the sexy times and romance primarily then you will love it. I will be reading more of this author. I am excited that I have an ARC of the next book in the series and am glad that Netgalley introduced me to this book and author.
The author crafted a story which I found entertaining to read. Filled with drama and emotion, the story introduces two interesting characters who quickly find their way into your heart. I found myself rooting for them even though at times, I was not totally a fan of his. An enjoyable read.
