As a mum to an 11 year old daughter, Dr Beth Moseley's book is full of incredible supportive tips and insights that I can use to support my child's journey to adolesence. Starting secondary school is a daunting time for us both, each of us facing our own anxieties, so this will be welcome support for us both in navigating the next stage of her life. I would recommend this to any parent of tweens or teens.
I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Happy Families is an amazing guidebook for anyone who wants to help and support their child's mental health and loved what a wealth of advice and support was within this book.
The book is divided up into sections, making it easier to find what you are looking for. The book is aimed at support for all ages of children and offers tips and examples for both yourself and your child to understand.
The area about adolescence and the changes it brings to both mind and body was very interesting and helps you to understand better just what they are going through so you can support them better.
I loved how the author shared her own struggles within the book, which comes as a balm to any struggles you yourself might be facing or going through, making you feel less alone.
I've added this to my wish list to buy as it's definitely a book I want to go back to at times for support and guidance with my own daughter who's eleven and to pass on to my eldest daughter with her own child.
A wonderful and useful book to help with families. I have 3 children and my eldest is 11. She starts secondary school this coming September and I found this book really useful for any upcoming issues we may face. Girls are renowned for being mean to one another so this book has given me lots of tips and tricks on how to handle situations where both my girls may feel sad or anxious about something and how to make them feel heard.
It’s also helped me with coping strategies when things get a bit stressful or I feel overwhelmed.
A really great book to keep referring back to as our family dynamic changes over the next few years. Already recommended to a couple of my friends.
