I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers.
Big Quiz Book 2 by National Geographic Kids is another vibrant quiz book packed with fun and interesting knowledge for inquisitive minds. This book is perfect for children and adults and would make a great book to have in for rainy days, long journeys, quiz nights, and general family fun. There's a range of topics covered such as nature and animals, history and geography, science and technology, space, sport, music, arts and food and even contains a tie breaker at the end of the book incase there's a draw! My daughter and I have had fun with this book, and both learned new things from it. Dotted throughout are fun fact bubbles full of interesting information for all too.
Thank you to Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A great Quiz book with many questions I had not seen before. Recommended.
A marvellous creation, this offers an alleged 1001 questions and answers – the oddball there is the tie-breaker at the end. Full colour pages provide us with a quick round of quizzing over one spread, then the answers are just over the page waiting for us. They, the answers, all have a snappy bit of writing around the subject, too, because let's face it it would be kind of daft to ask which country's flag is different each side without telling us what the change is.
Generally the questions are either true or false or, more commonly, multiple choice from three answers, and while the adult will clearly see through a lot of the wrong options when adjudicating, even they might not have a snap idea about how many earthquakes there are each year.
Equally on a par with the trivia gained from the answers and their additional info (did you know Dr Pepper once sold itself to be heated up before drinking?) is the spread of subjects. We start with geography and end, via space science and chemistry with food, global pastimes and letter distribution. But when it can all be tied in with some aspect of the world – rock paper scissors was Chinese – it's more than fair to put it under the National Geographic banner, and it's more than fair to think of this as a fine example of its kind.
I did see one errant bit of proof-reading, in unfortunately large print, but my digital file has been kicking around for yonks now, and so I don't pretend I know the real paper form is flawed. I think it's going to be great fun and thoroughly educational at the same time – as intended.
You can count on National Geographic to pull a top notch quiz book out of the bag (or the Santa sack if you are looking for Christmas ideas).
The Big Quiz Book 2 is full of trivia questions, set in sections, in an easily accessible multiple choice and true/false layout, making it a great way to learn fun facts and also giving the perfect addition to any family game night. Aimed at ages 8+, we had lots of fun with this book and if we ever go on The Chase, we will be hiding a copy up our jumper sleeve (we may need to shrink it down first but you get the gist!).
Perfect for any child or family with a competitive streak.
Thank you NetGalley and Collins for sending this eBook for review consideration, all opinions are our own.
Big Quiz Book 2 is perfect for family and friends alike. It's packed full of multiple choice questions so it's perfect for children, but there's also plenty of 'did you know' facts thrown in. It makes it great for dipping in and out, and with themed questions you'll never get bored.
The quality of each page and in particular the images put it a cut above your standard quiz book. It would make an ideal birthday or Christmas present, however old you are!
I'm really sorry but the format wasn't compatible so I was unable to read it properly.. I have given 4 stars due to the issue.
This is one of those great books to dip into, providing us with random facts that just make us that bit more interesting - who doesn't want to be a bit of a know it all?! This book gives the potential to ace at pub quizzes, or at the very least have some quality time with family with a fun and educational focus.
The areas that are quizzed include: geography, science, history, sports, space and food to name but a few. Each section has 14 multiple quiz option questions. Also featured are 'did you know?' type facts. A whopping 69 quizzes are featured with the all important tie-breaker concluding matters.
All in all a great book for time with family and young friends, in terms of 'bank for your buck' this book is ticking boxes for days!
My thanks to NetGalley, author and publisher for the opportunity to review this book in exchange for an advance copy.
My daughter loves compiling quizzes and loves gathering facts. This is the perfect book for her. She has loved reading through the quizzes,
This is a fun and informative book with bright and beautiful photos, My 8 year old son loved working his way though it and would often regale us with an interesting fact or two that he’d learnt over dinner
This is such a great book that the whole family have enjoyed and has now become part of our new family quiz night
The book covers a wide range of topics and is beautifully illustrated. As the book has multiple choice questions it's easy for my 7 year old boy to join in too.
It has been that great that I would be more than happy to buy as I know we would have many more happy family times.
Thank you to the publisher for gifting us this ARC.
