2.75/5 stars! Even though I've heard about this author a bunch this is my first book by them. It's the third in the "Avalon Bay" series, but I felt like the story was cohesive as a standalone. I didn't mind the story. I liked Cassie and Tate was a yummy main character. My problem was that the story was extremely flat. It felt like nothing new or exciting was added to the story. And the miscommunication trope was a bit strong for my tastes. Will check out another book by Elle because I've heard great things, but this one wasn't for me.

4.25 stars
Having read the first two books in this series (I wasn't a huge fan of the first and was pleasantly surprised by the second), I was intrigued to see how the next story would shape up.
And this was a fun read, for sure.
I also think you could enjoy this as a standalone, if you haven't read the previous two, as there's not a crazy amount of overlap, which is good.
Out of all three books, this one showcased the most growth in the characters and felt more realistic.
They also had great chemistry too, which kept me hooked the whole way through.
I really enjoyed the summer setting, making it a great beach read.
Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This was chef’s kiss! I could not put this book down. It was spicy, romantic and the perfect summer read. The characters were great and their chemistry was ever better. I really enjoyed reading this latest instalment from Elle Kennedy and the Avalon Bay series.

I loved this book!! I am not going to lie when I knew what it was about I was a bit worried about how this story was going to go but Elle Kennedy does not disappoint.

Revisiting Avalon Bay is always a nice way to spend a day or two. And The Summer Girl, the third installment in the Avalon Bay series by Elle Kennedy, was everything I wanted it to be and more! Fun, romantic, and surprising, I didn’t want Cassie and Tate’s story to end.

I adored the setting of The Summer Girl. Not only the setting of Avalon Bay with it’s beachside campfires, but having Cassie and Tate be neighbors for the summer. It led to so many romantic encounters, including one particularly steamy scene that will remain quite memorable.

In this dual point of view romance, Cassie and Tate are beautifully flawed, enigmatic characters. Their chemistry leaps off the page, and they just make sense together. Cassie is kind, to a fault, and Tate, try as he might, can’t resist Cassie. I enjoyed their push and pull, and watching as Tate battled with himself. It’s a sweet friends-to-lovers story!

There is a surprise twist I didn’t see coming, mostly because I was just reading for enjoyment, not thinking too hard about where the story was heading. I wasn’t too sure how I felt about it at first, but Kennedy weaved it so expertly into the existing story, it made the ending that much more satisfying.

There’s plenty to love in this one: beachside parties, late-night chats, magical boat rides, and a local Beach Games event that had me cheering for the characters. If you’re a fan of Elle Kennedy or simply a fan of summer romances, you’ll enjoy The Summer Girl!

First of all, an abundance of thanks to the publisher, Author and Netgalley for allowing me a copy of The Summer Girl. As a devout fan of Elle Kennedy there is no better treat than an ARC of her work.
The Summer Girl was exactly what the doctor ordered for me. I have been feeling a bit glum lately and it was the absolute perfect dose of Summer escapism that I needed. The setting and atmosphere just instantly puts you at ease and as with all series - the familiarity with returning characters is lovely and comforting.
The romance element in this novel is just absolutely perfect, I couldn’t have asked for better leading characters and their communication was just fantastic.
The side characters and family themes were great too. The character from the pet store absolutely stole the show for me.
I never have a formula for rating books – just vibes, but for a romance to score well with me it must 1) make me grin like a fool at least once 2) elicicit some kind of audible shriek or visible blush in reaction and this story passes with flying colours.
Thank you once again for a really enjoyable read. I am now off to buy my ‘trophy copy’ for my bookshelf.

The third installment of the Avalon Bay series (and I hope it never ends). I loved this as much as I loved the first two, could not put it down! We see Cassie and Tate develop their relationship. It was funny and adorable and I just love all the characters in this series. A great read for a quik romance kick and can be read as a stand alone too.

this is a nice, lighthearted summer romance book! tate and cassie were the most realistic and mature romance of the series so far which i enjoyed much more than the bad boy trope that had been going on previously! a really really well done friends to lovers story and the perfect beach book!

Elle Kennedy does it again, couldn’t put this book down, I read it in one sitting. This is the third in the Avalon bay series and they just get better and better.

Elle Kennedy, the queen of romance? I think so.

Following the story of Cassie and Tate we see their romance unfold.

You could also read this as a stand alone.

I hope there’s another one on the way. Loved it!

This was my favourite book of the series, I felt like the revelations in this were strong and made you gasp. There was enough spice and chemistry to keep the pages turning without it becoming smutty (I also love smut, but I picked this arc up as a late summer read - Thanks Little Brown & NetGalley!)

The fling aspect made me chuckle and I loved how the relationships were developed in this instalment, it felt like there was more character growth with this one and I really appreciated it - Great quick read when you want something summery with the toasty vibes!

"The Summer Girl" by Elle Kennedy is a steamy and captivating contemporary romance. Kennedy's storytelling is sizzling, with well-drawn characters and a plot filled with passion and unexpected love. A perfect summer read for those who enjoy tales of romance and desire.

DNF around halfway through just because I couldn't connect with any of the characters and the writing style just isn't for me. Seems like a fun book otherwise!

Cassie, she’s such a sweetheart! I love how she has no filter between her brain and mouth! It’s a little funny how adorable she is.

Tate… oh my! So far, he seems like he is a sweethearted-player who surfs…! *sigh*

Cassie and Tate are neighbours and the obvious tropes that link with this are appearing!!!

And the smexy tension is building… I can already tell that the spice is going to be ever so steamy!

I just finished reading this a few weeks ago and it was such a lovely end of summer read as the setting is a lovely dreamy beach town!

I really liked Cassie and loved Tate a lot. I thought the mixing of both their romance and families stories and history in the town was really interesting and I really loved how Cassie’s dynamic with her family played out too.

I’ve read book 1 in this Avalon Bay series and now this one, book 3. They can all definitely be read as stand-alones too!

A really easy to read summery romance!

From the blurb -

College student Cassie Soul hasn't spent an entire summer in Avalon Bay in years, not since her parents divorced and her mother spitefully whisked her away to Boston. Now that her grandmother is selling the boardwalk hotel that's been in their family for five decades, Cassie returns to the quaint beach town, excited to spend time with family, ring in her twenty-first birthday . . . and maybe find herself a summer fling. She's ready for breathless, heart-pounding passion. And on her first night in town, she finds the perfect candidate: Tate Bartlett, Avalon Bay's fun-loving golden boy.

Tate, sailing instructor and lovable player, is no stranger to flings. In fact, he's always down for a good time. But . . . maybe not this time? The moment he meets Cassie, he knows she's not the girl you play games with, and the last thing he wants to do is risk breaking her heart. So, despite his attraction to her, he turns her down. But that awkward hiccup doesn't stop a friendship from developing between the two. Tate even helps Cassie find that fling she's so set on finding. Only it isn't long before he's wondering if he made a huge mistake. Cassie is gorgeous, hilarious, and, frankly, the coolest person he's ever met. He can't deny it anymore: he wants that fling now. Big-time. And maybe even something more.

Another absolute winner from Elle Kennedy.

This series just keeps getting better. And spicier. A fantastic range of characters that felt complete and whole. It was nice to have two happy characters get together. Yes they both had personal issues. But this was two golden retriever energies syncing up and creativing magic.

This was the perfect end to the series. The books got better and better, and Cassie and Tate were definitely my favourite couple :) they were healthy, fun with great banter and so much passion. You could really see how and why they fell in love. and I'm always a fan of relationships where you can see their friendship too.

I'm such a sucker for a series with characters from the other books, it's great to see the couples you watched fall in love before as they're living their lives (especially Gen and Evan!)

Outside of the romance, I enjoyed the plotlines regarding both of their families. I think Elle Kennedy has a thing about writing questionable mothers - they all had mum issues - but they were all done well.

I rated it four instead of five because there were some parts where the story slowed down. Midway through the book were community games and I ended up skimming it.

Elle's writing is just so easy to read, I flew through it and was smiling throughout the whole thing. She doesn't disappoint!

Loved the series. I'm sad it's over but I had a great summer in Avalon Bay and can't wait to revisit in the future. If I could move there, that would be great, thanks!

As usual I really enjoyed my third visit to Avalon Bay and finding out more about Tate. Cassie was the perfect girl for him and I enjoyed watching their feelings grow and all their steamy moments. I really wasn't expecting what happened at The Beacon but loved the growth in so many characters as a result. 5 stars again for another Avalon Bay adventure.

I was delighted that NetGalley gave me the opportunity to read and review The Summer Girl. Having enjoyed the first two books in the Avalon Bay series, I think the characters in this one are my favourites. Cassie and Tate were warm and likeable with great chemistry. There were appearances from Hartley boys gang and the descriptions of summers in Avalon Bay create a now familiar back drop. Would recommend.

I absolutely loved this book - this might be my favourite book of the Avalon Bay series. And getting little snippets of the grow previous couples just made it even better.
Cassie was a great main character who you wanted the best for from the very beginning. Tate melted your heart, he was such a kind and pure soul.

This is my first book by Elle Kennedy, but it won't be my last. I loved Cassie's internal monologue as she progressed from awkward and unsure to being a confident young woman. Tate was a little bit cocky but also sweet and I loved his relationship with his parents. The story contains plenty of family drama on all sides, sentimentality, and the romance between Tate & Cassie is both steamy and sweet. I'll definitely be reading the rest in this series, and look for this author in the future.
