Im an Elle Kennedy stan and this book did not disappoint. I loved Tate's sense of humour and that he wasn't too macho ... he had a heart. Cassie was a little more wishy washy but they were good together.

This is honestly one of my favourite romance series - I love the beach town setting, I love the extended group of friends and the different relationships within that, and I love the writing! Elle Kennedy has done it once again with The Summer Girl, giving us such a cute summer relationship to read about that I had to finish it in one night. Kennedy manages to create unique and interesting protagonists with each new book, and I really enjoyed Cassie and Tate in this one - how Tate isn't afraid to admit that he has such a high standard of love, while being so sweet and close with his parents, while Cassie remains such an optimistic person while struggling with a difficult family situation. They worked so well together and I had the biggest smile on my face just lapping up their interactions. I really hope there's more in this series!

I requested The Summer Girl via Netgalley before having read the first two books in the Avalon Bay series so I could binge read all three and I have no regrets!

When I re-read the synopsis of The Summer Girl, I was less excited about the plot compared to the others mainly because it was centered around two characters we knew very little about unlike Bad Girl Reputation but it ended up being my absolute favourite out of the trio!

Cassie and Tate’s relationship just felt even more endearing that the other couples in Avalon Bay and the plot twist towards the end left me so surprised which I find rare for this genre which is often so predictable!

A heartwarming easy read that leaves me wanting more from this charming beachside town!

Great read, loved that the characters from the other books were included in this one too, especially as they were included so soon into the book so you get a sense of familiarity from the get go. The best thing about all three books is the characters, I especially loved Cassie, I loved when she got nervous she just talked so much because she was so relatable and loveable! I loved her from the very first page, her sarcasm & humour was just brilliant. I always feel like the characters have such great chemistry and I felt it in this one especially. From the first conversation that Tate & Cassie had you just knew it was going to be a great relationship. It’s a fun, light hearted read & I really enjoyed reading it :)

I’m honestly surprised at how much I liked this. Not because I thought it would be bad, but because I loved book 1 so much I didn’t think it could be topped.

Elle Kennedy is by far my favourite romance writer, so I went into this with high hopes, and wasn’t disappointed. Cassie and Tate were my favourite couple out of the 3, and loved that the ending was switched up slightly this time. No miscommunication break up 95% of the way through.

LOVED IT.

2.5⭐️ Tate is the stereotypical ladies man without the stereotype. Its refreshing. A decent guy. Makes a person who has a lot of sex with different women not an automatic morally deficient person, but gives him soul and a genuine reason for just wanting simple no attachment relationships. I loved his sense of humour: morse code for peeping Tom at the beginning of the book was great. He was also a man who didn't buy into any toxic masculinity: he cried when he felt empathy for Cassie, he didn't get possessive and jealous over her when she was going on dates with other men and he apologised when he knew he was in the wrong sincerely.

But whilst Tate seemed refreshing and quite developed as a character, Cassie felt like a blank slate. I thought that the rambling nature of csssie could use a little work. I could see what elle Kennedy was trying to do with the character but didn't feel as genuine as some of her other main leads. It seemed a little forced putting her as the rambling person since her thoughts didn't ramble un her inner monologues the same way and half way through the book that part of her personality just seemed to disappear. She also seemed to be the least fleshed out of all the characters she's written for this series. I was glad for her journey in getting a relationship with her dad's family that she wanted but at the same time i missed out in knowing who she really was as a person.

I loved the idea of the Wingman trope popping into this but it was briefly overshadowed. The scenes were so good but they were too brief for me. Much like the auction date which sadly wasn't expanded upon at all.

The complicated parent-child relationships continued in this book, which seems to be theme in thr Avalon Bay series. The narcissist mother and finally getting some distance contrast to the "perfect" loving parents - only the later revelation towards the end of the book knocks Tate's dad off the pedestal.

Unfortunately, this book didn't hit it the same way as the others in the series did. The women in those books had more drive, their careers seemed to be ingrained into their personality and relationships more fully fleshed out whereas this one just seemed to stumble upon her and bam! Success easy as that.

A fun , smutty cute summer romance. Does it require much brain power? No but sometimes it’s nice to just sit back switch off your brain and enjoy the book for what it is.

A flirty smutty summer romance story. This a great book if you want something where you can sit back, relax, turn off your brain, and just enjoy some adorable characters trying their best to navigate friendship and feelings.

I received this book as an ARC thanks to NetGalley but all thoughts, feelings and opinions are my own.

I’ll be honest, after reading a few of Elle Kennedy’s other books, I wasn’t sure how much I was going to love this one. Luckily for me, I didn’t need to be worried! This to me is a very friends to lovers kind of vibe, with the banter and chemistry that only Ms Kennedy can provide! We love a good bit of smut, it’s typical vanilla palate cleanser stuff but still good.

Did I enjoy the big drama moment in the book? Not massively, it felt clichéd and anticlimactic but let’s be honest if you’ve read the other books in the series, you’re expecting a bit of cliché angst that has you rolling your eyes. But the HEA is worth the angst to get to the giggling, feet kicking romance you get by the finish! I liked this book, I really did. And I’m glad I was able to read it ahead of the release date.

I couldn't wait to read this latest instalment of the Avalon Bay series, and it didn't disappoint.

Having known about Tate from the pervious books, it was good to get to know him better in his love story. Getting to know him you'd think he was very much boyfriend matter not the f boy he is. Good to know it was only while he was waiting on that one girl.

I laughed and cried with this book. Loved the link with Cassie studying at Briar U linking back to other book series of Elles. Also the links to the Good Girl Complex with Cassie's Grandma being Mrs Tanner the previous owner of the Beacon Hotel.

I have been looking forward to this third installment of the Avalon Bay series and it hasn't dissapointed!
I really enjoyed that this book built on the friendship of Cassie and Tate and although there is chemistry between them it isn't all just the physical. You get to know each of the characters and find out about their family, how they have grown up.
The big drama to cause the upset between these two was DRAMATIC and maybe a little overboard but I think this whole series has probably had at least one element where is seems a little over the top or more unrealist than the rest.
Whilst this is the third installment and there are the characters from the previous two books it isn't essential / required reading but I would definitely recommend reading all three just for some summer fun that goes from fling to love.

I received this book as an ARC for free from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review

I haven't read the other books in the series although I do own them but it didn't matter as this stands alone and is easy to read without having visited Avalon Bay before. I have to say I'm definitely going to be bumping the previous books in the series up my TBR now as I loved this and Avalon Bay sounds like a great place to visit (even if only in book form).
As ever this was an easy read with interesting characters that kept me engaged throughout. Elle's writing really flows and draws me into her stories so I know going into her books that I'm going to enjoy them. What made this a 5 star read for me was how Cassie's relationship with her father resonated with me. In fact it brought me to tears on a couple of occasions. The unspoken things really got me and it was so heartbreakingly true.
This is the perfect summer read, or frankly any time of year when you want to remember the long summer days.

Confession time…I haven’t read the other books in the series. It doesn’t matter. Summer Girl seems to be a stand-alone with the setting being the key feature of the series.
Cassie used to live in Avalon Bay, but moved away after her parents’ divorce. She hasn’t been back for a while, but with her grandmother deciding to sell the family business and leave it seemed like the right time to make the journey. Cassie is there for the summer and needs to find herself some way to entertain herself.
On her first night she overhears someone being dumped and then gets chatting to them. The boy, Tate, is known amongst locals for being something of a player but everyone seems to adore him. Cassie likes the idea of a summer fling, but he actually likes her so tries to keep her in the friend-zone.
The first part of the book consists of flirting between these two as they try to deny their feelings. Its obvious they are attracted to each other and they fool around a little, before eventually recognising their feelings and setting off on their journey of romance.
I liked the dynamic between the pair of them, for the most part. I got frustrated by her constant focus on her large breasts and virginity, and some of the sex scenes were a little cringy. However, there was a nice attempt to develop the characters a little and move beyond the obvious. Thanks to NetGalley for giving me the chance to read and review this.

Firstly, a big thank you to Little, Brown Book Group UK and Net Galley for the ARC and the opportunity to read this wonderful book.

The Avalon Bay series is truly the perfect summer series, and The Summer Girl is easily going to be one of the best books to read this summer. I read this book in one sitting. It is so easy to get fully absorbed into this story.

The chemistry between Tate and Cassie is unmatched. The banter between them is great, and they are just so comfortable with each other which really encouraged me to root for them. I love that we got dual perspectives as well, I like to be able to see things from multiple perspectives as everyone sees things and feels things differently.

I love that we saw quite a bit of the characters from the previous two books, and we got to see The Beacon being reopened. The majority of this book is fun and lighthearted, but Cassie’s relationship with her parents, and the big secret reveal at the end add a rougher edge to the story which really steers the story away from being another cheesy romance. Cassie’s relationship with her parents is hard to stomach at times, but she has great character development as these relationships change.

Ultimately, this story is a perfect summer read, and I hope we get to see more from the Avalon Bay series because I am not ready to let go of these characters just yet. A 5 star read for me. I fully recommend this book.

I devoured this book. It’s a great easy romantic summer read. I loved Tate and Cassie as characters and Elle Kennedy does a great job at giving them depth and making them really care.

The banter between Tate and Cassie is brilliantly funny and their chemistry had me rooting for them from the beginning.

My favourite character is probably Cassie’s Grandmother-she’s wise and feisty and everyone needs a Lydia in their life.

This book is so so good, I couldn’t put it down

I’ve not read any of the Avalon Bay series book and can I say I devoured it in one sitting!

Cassie and Tate’s meet cute was brilliant and from there on their friendship/relationship just grows. Although a lighthearted storyline which made made me smile ear to ear it did have a few moments which showed how Cassie’s relationship with her parents affected her and that was a nice touch, small part of the story but made an impact.

Loved the whole book and gutted I read it too quickly.

Thanks to NetGalley for the download

When Cassie returns to her home town of Avalon Bay shes hoping for a casual summer time fling. When she meets playboy Tate at a beach party she thinks shes found the perfect candidate.

Its with noting this book is part of a series. I had not read any of the previous and think this can still be read and enjoyed as a standalone!

At times the characters and romance felt a little juvenile. I wish we got a little bit more depth from both Cassie and Tate.

I did however enjoy the family aspects of this book (perhaps more than than the romance), I enjoyed the exploration of Cassies complex relationship with both her parents. And that bombshell at the end!

Overall though a fun summer romance I think it would be great for the beach!

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review.
