Oh wow this story had everything in it. Love, heartbreak, envy, nastiness, anger and hate.
But in the end everyone came together for the bookshop and village.
I really hope there's going to be more in this series. I want to know how Bert and niaomi get on and to know how their wedding day goes.
I want to know do pearl and fred get together they are made for each other.
I really hope Alice can have a baby when Daniel gets home.
And that Kate and Leo get married and she gets away from the farm but not her friends.
What a delightful book. I had not read the previous two and so whilst I could follow the story and enjoy it, I now want to read the other two to find out the back story.
I loved seeing how the chracter came together and worked to help one another, how none were perfect and all had flaws but this did not stop them from forming friendships and making plans to better the lives of those around them. A great read that will bring a feel good factor to your day even though the subject matter is not always happy.
I have read the other books in this series and was glad to be accepted for the next instalment. Really fun reads
I LOVED this book! I've been a fan of Lesley's for a while now and this, the third in the Wartime Bookshop series, was even better than the first couple. As with all of Lesley's other books, this book featured female characters who have got real heart. The books was full of warmth, drama, sadness, happiness, and ending on a hint of something wonderful about to begin! I can't wait for the next in the series and, if you haven't read the other two books in the series, what are you waiting for? You won't be sorry you started this excellent series.
A great follow up book in the series, I’m hoping there is a third one as this one was hard to put down, great from the very beginning
Great continuation of the lives of the residents of Churchwood and introduces new characters as well. Villagers pulling together but not always agreeing. It doesn't shy away from the hardships and lossesof the second world war but is still a feelgood book. Can't wait for the next one. Great series.
My favourite book out of the series, Christmas at the wartime bookshop, a great read, I couldn’t put it down. Catching up with Alice, Kate and Naiomi is like catching up with old friends. A lot has happened in Churchwood, heartbreak, horror and upset but also happiness. This book brings lots of change, some I wasn’t expecting. I can’t wait for the next instalment of this great series. Well deserved 5⭐️
I loved the stories of Kate, Naomi and Alice. The Wartime bookshop was the centre of the community which during the war time helped the local community to support each other during difficult times. Naomi's story was shocking and heartbreaking and it was good to hear how she overcame it all to get the outcome she wanted and deserved. A strong woman indeed. Kate had a very difficult life with her dysfunctional family but with the help of the land girls she was able to have a romance with Leo. A very moving and uplifting story with its ups and downs. How these women overcame adversity especially after the loss of the bookshop was inspiring.
This is book 3 of 4 and I can’t wait for the next book
Absolutely love this series, please please please write more,
this is the third book in the trilogy based in the village of Churchwood and as usual and I enjoyed following the good and bad times of the 3 main characters.
5 stars from me. it kept me hooked til the end
Christmas at the Wartime Bookshop, this installment of the much loved bookshop and residents of Churchwood did not disappoint.
Also, anyone reading it before the other 2 books in this saga will get plenty of context in terms of how the village of Churchwood is dealing and gettin on with life during the WW2.
I have enjoyed reading the stories and how their life progresses in the Wartime Bookshop series so far.
It couldn’t get cosier than the wartime bookshop in Churchwood, and this time, with a festive twist! The bookshop faces a lot in this book but as ever, the sense of community and community spirit is strong and in the face of adversity, they always band together.
We rejoin Alice, Naomi and Kate who have fast become a favourite for me. And you needn’t worry about hopping into this book (which is book three in the series) if you haven’t read the others as the author sums up everything you may have missed in such an easy and succinct way, you won’t feel lost. Although I do wholeheartedly recommend going back to read them because they’re absolutely fab and you can treat them as prequels and read the origin stories of our wonderful characters.
Each one of the girls chapters had an interesting element and a plot story to keep you enraptured. Naomi is facing struggles against her husband Alexander, Alice as pillar of the community has her own struggles to face and Kate is forever juggling home life, farm life and a secret tryst with a new beau. I couldn’t read them fast enough and sometimes with split perspective chapters you want to read a particular character more than others, but it certainly wasn’t the case here. I seriously love all of them in this.
I was afraid this might be the last in the series to make it a trilogy but I was delighted to find there’s another one planned, of hopefully, many more! I adore this series and couldn’t recommend enough.
I was so excited to be granted a pre-read of this book, and have to say it lived up to all expectations.
If there’s anything you take away from the bookshop series it will be “don’t judge” as there has been the unlikely friendships with girl from the farm and lady of the manor. In this 3rd book we join old friends from the bookshop along with the land girls at Brimbles who themselves have hidden talents which surprise everyone when they come to the fore. Have to say I laughed out loud at some of Pearl’s antics.
There is the sad part that will bring a tear and have you urging them along to bring everyone together. Then the happy-ever after bit that leaves you longing for the next book to find out the outcome. Loved, loved it.
Pearl was my favourite character. Worthy of all ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Christmas at the Wartime Bookshop by Lesley Eames is a great historical fiction and is the third book in the WWII saga series: The Wartime Bookshop.
I have loved this series from the beginning. Following along with the three main characters: Naomi, Kate, Alice, their associated circiles, and the community of Churchwood during WWII, has been quite enjoyable.
I really like the family saga concept, the character cast themselves, the progression, and the inclusion of the lovely Bookshop.
I hope this series continues.
5/5 stars
