Prepare to be swept away into a world of profound emotions and poetic beauty. This poetry collection is an exquisite balance of vulnerability and resilience, as the author fearlessly delves into the complexities of familial and romantic relationships and is a testament to the transformative power of poetry and a must-read for anyone seeking solace, introspection, and the beauty of language.
Embark on an emotive journey of love, pain, and healing. A powerful and evocative poetry collection that leaves a lasting impact. Jeff King's words cut deep, revealing the intricate layers of pain and vulnerability. Through the bilingual nature of the collection, King's verses resonate with a wider audience, capturing the essence of human emotions in both English and Spanish.
A short but soulful collection of poems on topics including family, love and loss. There is even an homage to a pet cat. In his Epilogue, Jeff King says that: “...poetry should aim to be a talisman against the darkness”. His hope is: “that someone may find something in these words that they can hold on to in the dark”. In my view “The Danger of Falling in Love” is a book that you will keep returning to and rereading. Each of us at some point is affected by love and loss. All the poems touch me in some way and it’s hard to pick a favourite. However, I found “To You, The Child That Never Was” to be particularly moving (it is about abortion). There are also certain lines in each poem that strike a chord with me - for example: “You started out listening to her heart, And wound up falling into her soul”. It is a bilingual collection as the poems are also written in Spanish and would make an ideal gift for a Spanish-speaking poetry lover.
This collection of poetry was so on point with me. I can relate in most of these poems. Such beautiful words!! I am especially fond of the poem Mistress Addiction. I have 2 addictions and took me forever to beat them but I did. So that poem is almost about me. I love this beautifully written collection and I know you all will enjoy it. Its a must read!!
