An odd little book but a nice change of pace. Naji is a curious young girl and I enjoyed her sense of wonder and questioning as she watched men dig a hole in her backyard and worried about where it would go and if there are monsters. This is a nice glimpse of life in a middle eastern country.

My eight year old grandson and I read this together. A wonderful introduction to Persian culture. Naji is an awesome character. A little girl filled with curiosity and wonder. Workers are digging just outside her room. Dad tells her to definitely stay away because it's way too dangerous. Curious Naji wonders if Polloi are hiding in the hole. Come along and discover what happens. Great story. Good descriptions. Interesting story. Fun for alk ages. Thanks#Netgalley and # StormtopPublishing for the eARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are mine.

This book was adorable. Naji was likeable. Great for kids and adults who want to experience a new culture.
I think it could have been a bit shorter, but loved it nonetheless.
