What a great story that keeps you guessing,
A mystery that has clues and ideas meshing
Leading you one way - and then another-
Until, near the end, the truth you discover.

An enthralling read with characters who
Are believable, relatable, all the way through.
A story with mouthwatering, delicious food, too,
And historical sights brought in to view.

This is Armstrong and Oscar book four,
When off with friends they go to tour.
A Tuscan weekend away with friends
Should be relaxing but how will it end?

With wolves, porcupines and prickly folk as well,
Scientists, intrigue and secrets to tell.
Another fascinating read by this author who
Writes brilliant books I love to read and review!

For my complementary copy of this book, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

Thank you to @rachelsrandomreaources for my copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I’ve read 3 out of the 4 books in this series now, and enjoyed every one. I love Italy and finding out more about different parts of Tuscany is always a pleasure.

Dan is away for a few days with his girlfriend, Anna, at a hotel in Siena with friends when a murder occurs on the first night. Cue lots of investigation, more murder, lots of delicious food and you’ve got a brilliant cosy mystery.

A great easy read with everything you want when tucked under the blanket with a latte and snacks.

🌄Perplexing: so many scientists, so much hidden drama😲

4.5🌟stars
It's great to read a murder mystery set in a place that's dear to my Italian memories and features a four-legged Dr. Watson companion for a modern-day detective. Sherlock had his Watson, private detective Dan Armstrong has his lab Oscar who comes up trumps with clues and evidence just when the humans are stumped! It made for a quick, easy and enjoyable read.

The murder mystery is based around fatal events involving a scientific symposium held at a country hotel in Tuscany, near the historic city of Siena, a major rival to Rome and Florence in medieval times. Dan is vacationing but he and his travel companions swiftly get drawn into the heart of the investigation of a scientist's death in what appears to be a wolf attack on hotel grounds. Turns out a number of the scientists either don't get along or get along too well! The suspense and danger keep building and Dan and the Italian police have plenty of meeting attendees and even some locals who could be involved in the violence as the motive remains elusive.

The big reveal was pretty much a surprise to me and that's the kind of case I like. Plus, Dan and his friends do a bit of exploring and sightseeing in the area that took me back to my own rambles around historic Siena and the surrounding countryside, including the mysterious San Galgano sword in the stone. For me, the Italian setting was a big draw when it came to selecting books from this series but now I am also in it for Dan, Oscar and the unpredictable plots. I love the whole premise of Dan's retirement from the British police and move to Tuscany to start a new phase in his life.

Thanks to Boldwood Books and NetGalley for sharing a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest opinion.

Dan Armstrong and his faithful canine sidekick Oscar are back in this delightful read.
In this book the pair are on holiday with his partner Anna looking forward to the time away from their day jobs , but as expected things don’t go to plan .
A mutilated body is found and Dan finds himself in the thick of things instead of the relaxing break he was hoping for .
The story moves at a fair pace and makes for an easy read .
The descriptions of Tuscany it’s food and architecture makes for an enjoyable read .
The characters are amiable and it’s like meeting up with old friends, I’m looking forward to the next in the series.

Another superb addition to this series although I'm starting to think I'd rather not know Dan and Oscar purely because murder seems to follow them around, even while on holiday.

And this is a rather tricky crime to solve, stumping at times everyone involved officially or unofficially.

I loved the setting of Siena, and with Anna acting as tour guide, we really get to know the area, and it'd history.

Equally we learn a lot about the local wolves, which was fascinating.

I had absolutely no idea who had done it, I just couldn't predict this at all, and it certainly kept me on my toes.

I'm loving this delve into the darker side of T A Williams mind. Long may it continue.

Thank you to Boldwood Books and Netgalley for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Murder in Siena is the new book in the Armstrong and Oscar series, set in Italy.

This time Dan is on holiday with his new partner, his detective friend and his wife when, you got it, a murder occurs. The two just can't help themselves, and quickly, they're involved, assisting local police in interviewing the attendees of the international conference taking place in the hotel.

While Dan tries not to involve himself too closely in the quest to find the murderer, he and Oscar do keep finding themselves in the right place at the wrong time,

As with the first three books in the series, the reader really is left guessing, trying to determine who the culprit is, and it's only in the closing pages that everything starts to make sense.

I really enjoy this series of cosy crime stories. Murder in Siena is a fine addition to the previous books in the series.

Dan is back in Tuscany after a whirlwind trip to London for a book signing. His first book is receiving rave reviews and his decision to retire from the police force, move to Tuscany and become a writer is validated.
Dan, Anna, Virgilio, Lina and Oscar, the Labrador leave home for a relaxing mini-vacation at a beautiful hotel in the Tuscan hills. The hotel is hosting a scientific conference so the place is buzzing with heady conversation along with many romantic liaisons among the conference attendees. When one of the scientists is found brutally murdered Dan and Viirligio are pulled into the investigation that is initially thought to be related to professional jealousy but when two more murders occur, it appears the motives may be romantic rather than scientific.
Another great entry in this series. Well paced, interesting plot that keeps the reader guessing.

I’m always excited when a new book in the Armstrong & Oscar Cosy Mystery series is released, so there was never any doubt t I’d be up for reviewing this fourth instalment. As expected, the author sells the setting like a seasoned tour guide and not even the fear of a wolf attack would deter me from wanting to visit this beautiful part of Italy. That said, the delegates at the environmental conference who were staying at the same hotel as Dan (on a break with new love Anna, dog Oscar, police friend Virgilio and his wife, Lina) that wolves were unlikely to attack people. So when Dan thinks he hears a wolf howling on their first night there, no-one expected to find a dead body the next morning.
Had Dan really heard a wolf? Were the experts wrong? Well, many of the local farmers think so and they aren’t shy in voicing their concerns. But when the medical examiner rules out a wolf attack, Dan and Virgilio can’t help but look at the hotel’s visitors – primarily the delegates – for their suspects. You see, while they are supposed to be on holiday, neither can curb their interest in the case, both keen to help out where possible, much to Virgilio’s wife’s dismay.
The story closely follows Dan’s thought process as he, aided by Oscar in more ways than one, tries to eliminate some guests from the long list of suspects. However, with dodgy alibis aplenty and so many secret (or not so secret) affairs and dalliances among the delegates, the culprit looks to be hiding easily in plain sight. Well, for a while at least as I worked things out early on, identifying the killer though not their motive long before the end.
If I’m honest, for me, Dan’s thought process is a tad long-winded and drawn out in this book, although the mechanics of solving the case are nicely punctuated by sight-seeing trips which show Anna’s expertise in all its glory, as well as offering up a very believable dilemma for Virgilio and his wife. These extra plot-lines emphasise how much Dan has settled into his life as a PI in Italy and give substance to the relationships he has made there.
A series I’ll never tire of returning to, not just for Oscar’s antics but for the sense of knowing I’m in for an entertaining read.

This latest book, Book 4 in the Armstrong and Oscar Cosy Mystery Series, finds retired Inspector Dan Armstrong on holiday in Siena with his girlfriend Anna, labrador Oscar and best friends Inspector Virgilio and his wife Lina. I’ve read all the series so far and it’s always a lovely break between my more gritty read. The authors writing is very engaging with descriptions of the lovely scenery, historical facts and even lovelier food you can imagine yourself there walking Oscar along the promenade!

They are staying at an hotel which is also holding an environmental conference but it isn’t long before one of the conference attendees is found dead. Initially it looks like they have been attacked by wolves who live in the woods nearby. However, it quickly becomes apparent that human(s) are responsible. Investigations reveal secrets which attendees have been withholding and another death of one of the main suspects further complicates matters.

This case is a bit more complex than some of the earlier cases with a bit more to get your teeth into. Some good misdirection keeps the suspense high in this enjoyable and fun cosy murder mystery thriller.

I devoured this book! I'm a huge fan of Dan and his canine cohort, Oscar. TA takes his plotting and characterisation to new levels with this new story. Red herrings, twists Agatha Christie would be proud of, this book as them all. More please. My thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood for the reading copy,

Murder In Siena is the fourth book in this series featuring Dan Armstrong and his trusty labrador, Oscar, and I'm really pleased to be back with them both. This time, the action takes place during an environmental convention in Siena, and TA Williams takes us straight there. His description of the beautiful surroundings and the history of the area, through the character of Anna, is brilliantly detailed and I loved being able to picture the scenes as well as learning some interesting information about the setting.

Although Dan is supposed to be on holiday, when there's a murder nearby, he obviously can't help but be involved. His excitement is shared by Oscar, and I love the way the author incorporates the labrador into the story and shows us his excitable personality in the same way as he would with a human character, so that we can fall in love with him too. Dan remains a determined, intelligent investigator and I continued to root for him as he tried to get to the bottom of the mystery. I also loved that we got to spend more time with Anna and Virgilio's Wife, Lina, and get to know them better too.

TA Williams writes in a really engaging way and I enjoyed trying to guess who had done what. In Murder In Siena, there is a large cast of characters, for whom the author has created interesting, convincing back stories, which invite the reader to guess who may have a motive for murder in this story. I really wanted to know how it would come together and I admire the author for keeping me entertained throughout the novel and bringing together a plot which is quite complex.

I hope there is much more to come in this series!

This latest entry in the Armstrong and Oscar series has Dan, his dog, and his girlfriend Anna join friends at a hotel in Siena, Italy. Someone is murdered, the local police are called in, and Dan is once again asked to interpret and use his police experience to help unravel the mystery.

Lovely descriptions of Siena, quirky characters, snippets of local history, red herrings, and an engaging storyline all add up to another great cozy mystery by T.A. Williams.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher of the ARC.

Peppered with quirky humor and an eclectic mix of characters, Murder in Siena by T.A. Williams is an enjoyable and entertaining mystery. As I was reading through, it felt like a movie playing in my head. Vivid descriptions of rural Tuscany made me feel like I was on a (virtual) tour.

The only niggle I had with this story was the ending. I didn't like the reason for the murder and the perp's identity. Many red herrings later, it felt like the perp's identity came out of nowhere.

Having said that, Dan and Oscar's sleuthing adventures kept me hooked onto the story until the end. I am looking forward to reading the next installments - new developments in the near future for Dan and the gang, and I am curious to see how it plays out.

There's a lovely pace and style to this story. An engaging storyline that's easy to read. Set in Italy, there's an emphasis on the scenic beauty as well as the history of the country that runs alongside the plot line,

There are some interesting angles in the story including myths around the wild wolves in the area. The cooperation amongst the various characters as well as the respect and friendship evident is refreshing. And then there's Oscar, such a wonderful doggy character.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this series of cozy mysteries and look forward to the further escapades of Dan and Oscar.

Its four out of five for me

With thanks to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and the author for myadvtnce reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
