A slower burn thriller than usual from Heidi Perks but no less Interesting and exciting.

On reflection, having finished the book which I enjoyed immensely, the huge coincidence of the 2 protagonists actually meeting does appear so unlikely, that I am forced to lower my rating slightly.

Despite this one misgiving I can wholeheartedly recommend this book and I’d like to thank the publisher and NetGalley for letting me read this ARC.

I always love a Heidi Perks book and was pleased to be accepted for this advanced read as after reading the blurb, I was intrigued. The plot kept me guessing right until the very end and I don’t think I would have ever guessed the final twist! Loved the characters and I found myself unable to just side with one of them as I needed to know more about all of them. Would definitely recommend.

What an amazing book, I couldn’t put it down. The characters really graphic you and draw you into their lives. The plot twist at the ends I really didn’t see that coming. I can’t wait to get a physical copy of this book to keep forever. If you like a good story line with likeable characters and an amazing twist read The last resort

Well Heidi Perks just gets better and better….

Erin and Will are married with a young daughter. Erin is a stay at home mum whilst Will is a high school teacher (sidenote - can’t think of any schools that would still be in on 31st July 🙈) and their marriage is starting to show a strain, not helped by an interfering mother in law. Making a decision to get some help, they begin to attend couples’ counselling with Maggie Day, an experienced councillor following a highly traumatic experience as a teenager. But just what are the problems between the couple and why are they telling different stories? And just why is Maggie so interested in what Erin has to say? And how did Erin come to be hospitalised as the victim of an horrific hit and run?

This book kept me guessing. I was drawn into the story and how it unfolded, in different timelines as the different plot Ines were woven together cleverly. A great read that made me think.

Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read and review.

Heidi Perks’ best yet.
I was instantly hooked and I raced through this book I was beyond eager to find out who was guilty and how all the strands pulled together.
I didn’t like Will as a character, but liked Erin and Maggie.
With thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for the opportunity to read this book. Five stars all around ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This book totally had me hooked! Can't wait to get my hands on more stuff from this author. Shoutout to NetGalley for hooking me up with the ARC!

Seriously, I couldn't put it down – raced through it, dying to uncover the big finale. The author's got mad skills, keeping that suspense going strong till the last chapter. The story drops these little hints that make you second-guess everything each character does and how they're all connected. But man, it all comes crashing together in this mind-blowing ending, a twist you'd never even guess.

And let's talk about those characters – they were the bomb! Each telling their side of things, which made the read so damn smooth. I'm totally throwing my stamp of approval on this mind-bending psychological thriller. The different perspectives were like expertly woven into this killer story. Trust me, you gotta get on this book! 📚🔥

Awesome.
When Erin and Will start having couples therapy, they hope it will fix the rift that has appeared out of nowhere in their marriage. But their therapist Maggie can't work out whose version of the truth she can trust. Then Erin is brought into hospital in a critical condition following a hit-and-run accident. Now everyone is desperate to unravel the truth. Because if this isn't an accident, then someone close to Erin must be responsible. Erin and Will have a great marriage a wonderful daughter that is till Valetines day, no be didn't forget. Set in beautiful Dorset.
Something clicks snaps in Erin and suddenly it's not so great, along comes Maggie or rather they do along to her for marriage counselling. Things get worse o and 6 months later Erin is in hospital having been run over in the middle of the night far from her home.
I loved it so much.
Thanks to NetGalley and Random House UK Cornerstone for giving me an advance copy.

This is a great thriller plenty of twists and turns you don't see coming. Erin best friend turns away and well can things get worse the answer is you have to read the thriller to find out I'm not going to spoil it for you.

The fact is set in Dorset my favourite county is added bonus for me but them is thriller is great no matter the setting there are some great characters some overbearing ones and the fact you have no idea who to trust just adds to the whole package and its a package I want to highly recommend. I loved it and hope you do even more.

Menacing, Compelling..
Has Erin truly suffered the accident they say happened? Or, is she a victim of something far more sinister? The questions are there from the off. Who to trust in this tension fuelled and suspenseful tale where there are always two sides to the same story. In a nicely penned dual timeline and multiple narrative format, the reader is pulled into a menacing and compelling read. Characters are both credible and deftly drawn, the plot peppered with twists and red herrings. Will the truth out?

This is a slow burn, character based novel but it had me completely hooked with how cleverly written it is! I'm not normally one for character based books but the multiple povs and the complexity of the characters aswell as having these tiny reveals peppered in that shift the entire landscape just made me unable to put it down til I got to the end! Anyone who likes psychological thrillers will love this

A well written page turner.

This may seem more slower paced than others on the market, however it is a fantastic character build of a novel and this makes it infinitely more fascinating as the characters and their histories develop.

A highly recommended read from a brilliant author.

It starts with a woman, Erin, being brought into hospital after a hit and run. She is separated from her husband, Will and this immediately raises suspicion. But there are other things too. The novel goes back and forth between present and past so that we find out more about Erin and Will's marriage and just how estranged they are.

I enjoyed this novel especially at the beginning when I had no idea what was going on. When it got into the more familiar territory of gaslighting I found it less engaging. However it's a good read overall and will appeal to people who like psychological thrillers. Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC.

A brilliant psychological thriller.
The story is told from different points of view and is very well written.

The Last Resort is told from multiple points of view, and shifts between now when a terrible accident (or crime) has happened, and the months and weeks in the lead up to it. I read this novel in one sitting as it's a page turner packed with suspense. I was hooked by the story and wanting to know what was going on, who was lying or telling the truth, and what had happened in the lead up to Erin being in hospital. Of course nothing is as it seems. I recommend this novel to fans of psychological thrillers.

A brilliant novel cleverly told from multiple points of view. I particularly enjoyed the psychological aspects and how each person's story was woven together; as you delve further into their stories your perception of what the truth is continuously changes. Definitely worth reading!

Not a bad read wasn't as fast paced as I'm used to with Heidi's books, but a good story with a nice bit of a twist

I found this an exciting story. There are many time shifts as the reader is moved between then and now. Initially it seems that the main couple are moving apart and cannot communicate. As the story progresses, it becomes clear that there is something else happening and the couple are obviously in the dark. Eventually the solution is revealed and disaster strikes.
I enjoyed the book and was keen to pick it up again to read more.

Wow, I was totally blown away by this book!

Heidi Perks has been on my TBR list for a while now so I was very excited to request 'The Last Resort.' Eerie and chilling right from the first page, this was a beautiful and cleverly written novel that had me racing to the end to find out what happened.

I'm not usually a fan of jumping back and forth between past and present but the author executes this perfectly to create tension and drama and it had me hooked.

I loved the idea of repressed memories and how the story all came together at the end, it kept me guessing throughout.

I have already bought 'The Other Guest' and am excited to delve into her other novels.

This is a must-read for anyone who loves a mind-twisting thriller.
