This was a fun read! Can be relatable in the sense of how you may seem like you are invisible to everyone else. Loved all the art work!

This was a really sweet graphic novel - the colour palette was GORGEOUS. I think the storyline could've been tightened up a little - there was something really good here, it just needed perfecting. I found out after reading that this came out in 2018, and there's been 2 more graphic novels published since, which I would definitely pick up.

"Sheets" is a graphic novel following Marjorie as she tries to keep her family's laundromat business alive after the death of her mother with the help of friendly ghosts. I found the art style to be really lovely in this book and the characters were very likeable. I wasn;t able to really connect to this book in way but I can see where this book could be really helpful for some readers have,

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this e-arc of "Sheets".

This goes directly into my faves of the year!!
The color palette was immediately a favorite, it's so pretty and well studied, I loved those colors so much!
It was such a cute, sometimes sad and full of heart story that kept me glued from start to finish.
I read this graphic novel in one sit only and in more or less one hour.
I got sucked into reading so much that lost track of time and finished just in time for dinner lol

In this book we follow a girl, Marjorie, dealing with everyday life struggles, friends but especially family. She lost her mother not long ago and her dad is kinda absent. She has too a little brother to take care of and she has to find time for both her studies and her family's laudry business. She is constantly harassed by a "business man" who wants her property at all costs, but she will do everything in her power to keep it. While there seemed no more hope but accepting his offer, she will find an unsual friend who first seems to mess things even more, but is in fact the one who will help her the most.

A beautiful story of a different friendship, with that touch of sadness and paranormal that anyone can enjoy and appreciate. I already have book number two on on my netgalley shelf and will start it ASAP!

Sometimes you don’t have to go looking for a treasure to find a friend, just manage a laundry to attract one. Sheets is a graphic novel that remains impressed by its tenderness in telling a story of a special friendship that is between a ghost and a human.
The color used in the tablets is in sync with the history and emphasizes certain situations well. I think it is an excellent reading for the audience to which it is addressed because it presents issues that sprout in that period and are well narrated.
One of the aspects that makes this graphic novel so unique is the resemblance between Marjorie and Wendell: where one is a ghost in her life, the other is in that of the dead.
Marjorie is the main protagonist facing at a young age one problem after another without anyone’s help. As easy as it is to empathize with her I found Wendell the character who steals the scene.
A reading to do and if possible during Halloween.
And as everyone says: where I can find a ghost?

This little graphic novel was adorable. I was entertained by the ghosts needing sheets when they arrive to the afterlife. I commiserate with Marjorie. Laundry is also at the top of my list for hated things, because it is indeed very real. Poor Marjorie has lost her mom, and her father is having a hard time dealing with the loss, so she is left to run the business. This graphic novel finds the similarities between Marjorie and a ghost in being invisible. And finding a way to make friends through something that seems impossible, and find a way to enrich each others lives. A true story of friendship and healing.

Marjorie is struggling to keep the family laundry afloat following the death of her mother. Everything is going wrong and they are about to be bought out by a mean man in town. In the Land of the Ghosts, Wendell feels like he doesn’t belong and escapes, finding himself at Marjorie’s laundromat. He causes havoc, and Marjorie decides she hates ghosts even more than she did before. But do Wendell and Marjorie know each other from before Wendell died, and is there anything he can do to help save the laundromat?

The full page art set pieces are absolutely stunning in this graphic novel. The art isn’t my favourite overall but I really do love the set pieces in both the living world and the land of the dead.

I think the story lacks pacing for me in some ways - I felt we jumped a lot between the land of the living and the land of the dead and it was hard to keep up. Things are resolved without much issue and so I also feel I’m not sure this book gives a clear answer to what it’s trying to achieve. I didn’t feel it was showing young people how to deal with grief, or the true value of friendship, or anything else in a clear message. I also felt it was just so endlessly sad, and whilst I think Majorie’s story is something many children sadly face it was depressing without a more message worthy resolve.

Sheets is a beautiful story about loss and laundry. We follow thirteen year old Marjorie who after her recent loss of her mother is running the family laundry business. Her life is once again altered when she realizes that the laundry room seems to be haunted.

I loved the connection between Marjorie and the ghosts and how a book targeting younger audiences brought up such hard topics of death and loss.

3.5 stars. I enjoyed the art in here and overall liked the story. My main issue is how cartoonish the main villain is, it felt too over the top and slightly annoying to me because certain things just didn't make sense. I would continue in this series though, I thought it was an interesting take on ghosts and the way afterlife happens. I also liked the discussions on grief. The idea that everyone gets their own sheet to trick the humans is also a slightly humourous addition to the book. I would generally recommend!

Realising graphic novels aren’t really my thing, I just want more words. However I can see how someone would love this, the story was cute and meaningful, plus I loved the drawing style. Definitely worth a read!

Marjorie is not having the easiest time, even compared to other 13 year old girls. Her mum has passed away and ever since her dad has been like a ghost, floating around their home and family laundromat and barely speaking, leaving Majorie to handle running the business, looking after them all and somehow staying on top of school work. A local ghoul of another type in the shape of a man is hovering, forcing his hostile plans to open a spa in the building Majorie and her family call home by any means necessary.

Meanwhile, another more literal ghost is trying to grapple with the afterlife.

I really enjoyed this book. It handled grief and mental health incredibly well, and the artwork is beautiful. I feel it would be a wonderful addition to any middle school or high school library, and would really enrich the lives of anyone who read it, particularly as an age appropriate tool to start conversations and spark empathy.

As an adult I also really enjoyed reading and will be on the look out for other books by the same author.

This story has a very specific mood, from its color pallette, and I think many kids will appreciate the vibe of the story. A little bit of mystery, a lot of a girl trying to find her way during a difficult time. I think kids will really enjoy this first installment of a three book series.

Thanks Netgalley and publisher for automatically allowing me to read this graphic novel.

I enjoyed reading this graphic novel and often felt bad for Marjorie who is pretty much a loner as well as trying her best to manage her late mother’s laundrette. She is always harassed by greedy fat businessman Nigel who really wants the laundrette to turn into a “five star hotel with the family living happily in accommodation”. She then meets ghost sheet boy Wendell who pretty much might as well be the main hero in this story since he pretty much saved the day no problem with his ghost homies lol..

Even though I wish it didn’t have such an abrupt ending to which it didn’t really give us a chance to see Wendell find Marjorie’s mother. Again it only just rushed to Wendell saving the day but still, I recommend it since it was enjoyable and easy to read..

I really need to read blurbs before starting a book. Because I thought it was a funny book, and honestly it was so emotional, I was definitely not expecting that.

Anyway, I got an arc from NetGalley and I loved this book.
This is a beautiful story with an emotional side. In this book, we follow two characters, the first is a young teen girl, Marjorie, who, after her mom died, is in charge of the family laundry business, at the same time as going to school. But she is struggling financially because the clients are rare and not always happy. Plus one of the wealthiest men in the city wants to buy the laundry place to make a spa, and he is ready to sabotage her work. On the other side (no puns intended), there’s Wendell, a young boy’s ghost, living in a ghost city. But he does not fit in, so he makes the logical, and totally not legal decision to leave the city. And just like that, he crashes and messes with Marjorie’s life, who also hates ghosts, but hey they are not real.

I loved the two main characters. They both have their own struggles, they are really different, and yet, without knowing it they are made to meet each other and help one another. They both have a good relationship, even if they really struggle at the start and character development.

Also, the themes of death and grief were so touching. While Marjorie has to grieve her mother at the same time as dealing with all the family and business problems, and the bullying at school, Wendell, has to mourn his own death, which is hard when you died as a kid...
But there are also heartfelt moments, and I loved the fact that the ghosts need a sheet so they can exist. And the ending? So happy it turned out like that. I can’t wait to read vol. 2

3-5 stars to be specific

The ending felt a little rushed and abrupt but overall I enjoyed this quite a lot!

I really enjoyed this graphic novel. I found the story cute as well as funny. I love stories about ghosts.

Light reading, with very nice illustrations and funny moments, as well as those that squeeze your heart.

Sheets shows us two different worlds: the real world and the world where the ghosts live, which seem to be each on their own until a friendly ghost has an encounter with our protagonist and everything starts to change.

I liked it a lot, it was light to read and the story it tells is very bearable, entertaining. But I felt that some things were like "taken by the hair" that they had a somewhat hasty resolution and that it was not entirely clear, or perhaps they wanted it to remain a little more in the air and that the explanation was not so specific.

I know what's next, and I even have Delicates to read so I'm excited to keep going.

Thanks Oni Press for the ARC I read on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
