I thought this was such a cute heartwarming and heartbreaking graphic novel. I thought this book dealt grief and friendship. I thought Marjorie was a good character and Wendell too. Marjorie has been trying to move on with her life after her mother died and trying to save her family's laundry mat. Plus she is dealing with trying to make friends and not be the "freak" some other people at school think of her. I think it is interesting how the ghost in here wear sheets. I could not wait to read the next volume.
This was a genuinely sweet story. I loved the focus on grief and death through a very different point of view, it was refreshing and a very quick and easy read.
Sheets, a graphic novel by Brenna Thummler, impresses readers with its captivating storytelling and visually stunning illustrations. Thummler delicately handles themes of ghosts and loss, blending them seamlessly with the challenges faced by the young protagonist, Marjorie. The book addresses tough topics in an accessible and relatable manner, using the metaphor of a haunted laundromat to explore loneliness, family, and purpose. The illustrations are breathtaking, conveying emotions and atmosphere with a unique style. Although the resolution feels rushed, overall, Sheets is a thought-provoking novel that emphasizes resilience and the power of friendship. It is a worthwhile read for all ages.
I really enjoyed this graphic novel, such a heart warming story and the art and colours are amazing. The story has great humour and I think the premise was really good.
I'm excited to read more books my this author.
Sheets is a sweet and quietly sad read, brought to life beautifully with gorgeous artwork that is both intricate and soft. I really liked the switch between colour palettes to show different locations and times. If there's anything that reduced my enjoyment it would be Mr. Saubertuck - I realise this type of OTT villain, with no discernible motive, is a stalwart of children's literature. However, as an adult it's really frustrating to read.
That said, I was pleased to see that there are further installments in this series - I would be keen to see where the story goes now that the world has been established.
3.5 stars rounded up to 4.
It was my pleasure to give my honest review of Sheets in exchange for a free copy from Oni Press. I love this graphic novel! I was so happy to see it pop up on Netgalley. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous and evoke strong fall vibes with the vibrant oranges, reds, and pinks. There is a central theme of loneliness throughout the story, as well as unconventional friendship. This is a mainstay on my fall reads list when I want to get in the mood for the season change and enjoy a heartwarming and emotional story.
A beautifully drawn story about grief and how different people deal with it.
I really enjoyed the story and found it very interesting to experience it from different perspectives.
I really liked the drawing style and the colors chosen. Because of the colors, the story made a living impression despite its rather dark subject.
The length of the book was reasonable and I didn't feel like it stretched out in places or left out any parts.
Many thanks to NetGaylley and Oni Press for the opportunity to read "Sheets" by Brenna Thummler.
This one was definitely not what I was expecting. I heard a lot about this book and it did not meet my expectations. The graphism was nice but not as nice as the front page. It was a tad sad but it didn't really gave profondeur.
Was expecting more but could be a nice book for someone who don't have any expectations or feedbacks for this book.
With thanks to netgalley for allowing me to review this graphic novel
Sheets is a lovely and sweet graphic novel about friendship, losing a loved one and of course about ghosts.
The artwork is stunning.
One of my favourite graphic novels
This graphic novel is so cute and heartwarming at times, and heart wrenching at other times. I finished it in one sitting, far too late at night because I was so enthralled. And those illustrations. Oh my goodness, so beautiful! I think I’m going to be ordering some prints because I love the style so much. I. LOVE. THIS. BOOK. 👻
I was a little confused at the beginning of the story as we flipped from the land of the living to ghost land but then I figured it out and the story just kept getting better from there.
I love the ending to this story and I cannot wait to read Delicates next.
Thank you Netgalley for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion
This was a cute read and I enjoyed the art work. The storyline didn't quite hit the spot for me. Although some big topics were address in a thoughtful and sensitive way, I feel other comics are more impactful
I was really surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. It deals with a variety of topics, including (but not limited to) grieving over the loss of a parent.
It loses a star for loose ends. (Too many spoilers if I start listing them.)
3/5 stars
The art didn't keep me focused. The backgrounds were beautiful but the people weren't an art style I liked.
The storyline was chaotic and didn't feel fleshed out enough.

Sheets is one of my favorite graphic novel series and I feel it gets even better in the second book! Here we meet Marjorie and Wendell the Ghost. The ending of this book makes me endlessly happy and I think about it regularly.

Sheets is a cute, middle-grade graphic novel about a girl mourning the loss of her mother, a ghost mourning the loss of his life, and them coming together to try and save the girl's family business. I would recommend this as a sweet, fun read for anyone looking to explore the idea of grief, love, family and friendship.
Thummler's slice of spooky small town charm makes you want to curl up with a hot mug of apple cider. Sheets is a perfect fall graffic novel that steps on the border of youth and adulthood. Marjorie is faced with the reality of losing not just one parent physical but both emotionally. She does all she can to keep her mother's dream alive inside of her near vacent laundry mat.
I would highly recommend this to any wanting a short story with knockout illustrations.
Cute and sweet, yet deep and emotionally charged.
I liked this more than anticipated! So much to look at as you are taking in the story and what a fun way to pull together ghosts and human.
Sheets 👻👻👻
Graphic novel, loved the colour palette. A cute ghost and grieving girl. Read in one sitting short and easy read. Sheets gives Casper the friendly ghost vibes
I read this after recently reading the sad ghost club (another graphic novel) which i loved so was inspired to look at similar books.

This book was such a nice breath of fresh air, I don't normally read graphic novels but this year I've decided to read more and I've been enjoying doing that a lot. Can't wait to read the next books~
