Sheets is a graphic novel that touches on loss and what truly happens to those we love after they are no longer with us and what happens when somebody needs something good to happen, when they feel that nothing else is going right in their life.

Marjorie Glatt is a young girl who lost her mother and is taking care of her little brother, attending school and taking care of the laundromat the her mother loved while she was alive. Marjorie's father is still distraught over the loss of his wife and spends all day in bed. Mr. Saubertuck offers to turn the laundromat into a "Five Star" yoga study, that he wants Marjorie's family to run for him, in exchange for room and board. A little form of help comes in the form of a ghost names Wendell, though his "help" first comes in the form of accidental sabotage. With the help of Wendell, Marjorie is able to stand strong and fight for herself and her family.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the free copy of Sheets by Breena Thummler in exchange for my honest review.

this was really fun! I absolutely loved the artwork and I think the whole idea behind this series is so brilliant. My one complaint was that I wish it was longer. Not just because I enjoyed it so much, but because I think I really would've benefitted from more time with Wendall—understanding that backstory and the ghost world. As it was, the introduction of a supernatural element felt very rushed compared to the drawn out introduction.

Sheets is an absolutely adorable story with wonderful artwork. It’s a perfect read when the days are getting colder and the spooky season is about to begin.

Sheets is a cute and poignant story about Marjorie, a girl who is struggling to run her families laundromat after the death of her mother. At the same time Wendell is a ghost struggling to make a life or afterlife for himself. When the two world's collide it initially leads to chaos but in the end they are able to help each other out. I loved that Wendell was able to give Marjorie the sense of fun back that all her responsibilities had cost her. I also really loved that this book had a strong message about the power of friendship and what can be accomplished with the help of friends. While this story is cute it also deals with death and grief so it may not be appropriate for younger children. However, for preteens and up this makes a perfect fall read!

The first third I didn't really know what was going on, I was a bit confused.

Once I got into it, it was cute and liked how the Ghost was only trying to help even if the FMC didn't see it that way to start with

I loved the ending and how all the ghosts and the FMC all worked together

I thoughts the artwork in this book was stunning and I really like that we got to see a lot of the surrounding area as well as just the launderette

Sheets

It's almost been 5 years since Sheets by Brenna Thummler was released!

Sheets is incredibly sweet and undeniably heartfelt. It’s a perfect fall read and excellent for anyone looking to jump into the spooky season right now!

I have seen Sheets so many times over the years, but I’ve never been able to sit down to read it until NOW!

It’s been a while since I’ve read a graphic novel, so it felt like I flew through it super fast. Even so, it was a fantastic read coupled with incredible and very thoughtful art.

First things first; the art in Sheets is absolutely wonderful. These pages are filled with the most beautiful colours and remain captivating; the entire way through.

The story in itself was really interesting as well. There is a lot of background in it; and the emotions are complex. I did find that in moments, there was not enough plot/happenings to support the pictures included.

I have the same feelings about hating folding laundry - very relatable. All in all a very relatable story but a bit too long in my opinion.

With thanks to Brenna Thummler for an advanced readers copy of this graphic novel.

5*

THIS IS SO GOD DAMN ADORABLE!

I'm kicking myself for waiting so long to read, a wonderful graphic dealing with some intensely difficult issues, including child death, grief, depression, alcoholism, loneliness is so wonderfully handled in a found friends story that I could not put down.

Although it doesn't feel quite like fall outside, this was the perfect graphic novel to start getting me into the fall mood. The story was short but it's defiantly something that I'll continue to think about.

This is such a cute graphic novel. I like how you get to feel so mad for the main characters on how this horrible person is trying to shut her down. It was a good story line with a hint of a spooky involving the cute ghost.

The book was cute, sad and funny at times. It was captivating and made me invested in the story, which made it super binge-able. Great for a story you want to read in one sitting but also a book you can use your time to enjoy. By looking at the cover I thought the book was just going to be cute and funny, but I was pleasantly surprised with how “serious” and plot-heavy it was. 4.5/5⭐️

This was absolutely adorable! Very lighthearted but also deals with grief and loss in a way that a younger audience can digest it easily. Why did I wait so long to read this!

Sheets was a really great read! I always enjoy graphic novels, but I really loved this one. It’s equal parts heartwarming and devastating. And I absolutely loved the art style. I can’t wait to check out more from Thummler.

I've read Lights before and this story is such a beautiful one that I cannot fathom to find words. It's s incredible in describing delicate feelings and the pure wonder what friendships can be but also the magic which can disturb it. I recommend this story to anyone. And maybe a friendly ghost will become your friend too.

Thank you so much Netgalley and Brenna Thummler for the ARC!

I wanted to throw a hissy fit when the book ended too quickly - without telling us more about Wendell, the family he belonged to, who he was waiting for. Then I realised there are two more books in the series!

I didn't enjoy the book from the very first moment. In fact, I considered putting it off because the starting was so slow. But then, Wendell's story caught my attraction and I really wanted to see what happens to him in the end. I felt so sad for the poor guy. Death isn't my favourite topic of discussion, especially when it involves drowning and a child. I felt for Marjorie too. Playing the role of an adult when her mom recently passed way with the responsibilities of her unstable father and young brother on her shoulders, it's surprising how she didn't crumble from the weight. I suppose some of us don't have the luxury to quit. It is a book worth reading. So, if the pace frustrates you too, hang on! It will get better.

I don’t normally read graphic novels since they sometimes don’t feel fulfilling but this one was amazing. I loved it and I’ll be reading the rest in this series. If you have little kids they will

The artist did a great job with the colors, expressions, and delivering the body languages. Sheets is a book about grief, and readers experience Marjorie’s fight to help her family business and her father depression. Also all the ghosts in this graphic novel were so adorable. It’s a perfect fall book to read and it will get you in your feelings.

I thought this story was adorable and it was a very fun quick little read. There were very devastating parts to the story, but still very enjoyable!
