This is a story of Ellie and Jayce, a teenage witch and a dragon shifter. Dragon lovers and fans of Fourth Wing will definitely enjoy this. Forbidden love, romantasy more than fantasy. Not my cup of tea but well written.

I started this book in the wake of Fourth Wing when I was salivating for anything that included dragons. Although I can't say I was disappointed during the time I spent reading this book, I have to say I often checked how much of it was left. I could not connect with the characters, there was always a distance that prevented me from completely empathizing with them.

After my reading slump and obsession of the fourth wing, I needed a book filled with dragons to get me back in my reading zone. And morewitch was EXACTLY that. Not only was this book cover perfect and had me hooked. But the story, the plot THE DRAGONS. Like come on. This exactly what evreyone needs to filled their dragons fantasies!

This is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet... where Romeo is a dragon and Juliet is not a lady in distress; well, she is, but she is also a witch in training so she can defend herself. And they are stronger when they are together and not apart.
And not like Romeo and Juliet, this book actually has a good plot. I would love to read the next one right away... because I need answers.

The inconsistent formatting of the copy I received made it extremely hard to read, especially for someone with ADHD and astigmatism. The plot wasn't bad at all, I'm sure it would have been a good pastime but for the life of me straining your eyes really isn't fun. I did not finish the book, but thank you to netgalley, the publishers and Jennifer Redmile.

I appreciate being given the opportunity to review this book. Sadly it was not for me. The cover design and description drew me in but after reading several NA Fantasy books recently it was jarring to switch back to a YA. The pace was quick and I enjoyed the writing but struggled to connect with the younger characters. I would recommend giving this a try since I think my lack of enjoyment came down to personal preference and not the quality of the book or the material.

Wow. I didn't expect this to be such a delightful and romantic read! One of my favourite romantasy reads of 2023 so far.

We follow two teens: a half mortal half witch and a dragon shifter who become magically bonded after a first meeting. They fall deeply in love with each other while also trying to find a way to stay together despite obstacles that threaten to keep them apart.

Perfect for fans of forbidden romance, feuding clans, and race against time situations.

The premise of this book is fantastic, there are a couple of tropes which are perfect for this type of story:
- insta-love
- opposites attract
- forced proximity (light touches)

The book is definitely aimed more towards a younger audience, the romance elements are very sweet. Jayce and Ellie's relationship evolves very quickly, while there are some bumps along the way it's very much a smooth ride.

Great side characters, I would have liked to know and see more of the aunties. I loved Jasper and Isobel too - their back story could have been more detailed as they seemed to be haunted and jaded, it would have made their characters extra special if we knew a bit more about how they came to be together.

Overall a good read - if you're into easy to dive into, steady, light romantacy this book is for you! 3.5 stars.

I saw a dragon on the cover and was immediately interested. Then I found out there was also witches!

Morwitch starts off with our FMC Ellie, a teenage girl who simply lives with her aunts after her parents died when she was a toddler. As her eighteenth birthday approaches, everything she knows is turned upside down. She learns that her mother is not actually dead and that she is a witch. While our other perspective is Jayce, a dragon in disguise. Different realms, which means.. we also have some forbidden love.

Unfortunately for me, I think the writing and characters were a bit too juvenile. I’m used to reading adult at this point, so going back to YA is a bit jarring, so that one is on me. The book starts with the action and intrigue immediately, like in the first chapter. I do think it would have been nice to have some backstory beforehand, I would have liked to know more about the world. Lastly, the characters do need a bit more developing. I often felt that we were being told, rather than shown.

Final thoughts: I’m sure this would be great for a more YA or Middle-Grade audience. It’s engaging for new readers, easy to understand, and action packed. I just don’t think I’m that audience.

3.5*

So it took me awhile to get into this. I know it’s a YA read but the writing and characters seemed a little juvenile at first. Once I’d settled in it was fine so I’m left wondering if it actually was the writing or just me.

Anyway once I’d settled I enjoyed this. It’s an easy read. Ellie is the short tempered witch. And Jayce is the hot headed dragon. Together they form an unbreakable pair.

It’s an enjoyable read. There’s no surprises, everything goes as expected but I enjoyed the ride and will probably read the next one.

I voluntarily read a review copy kindly provided by the publisher and NetGalley.
