I'm sorry. This book DNF.
The romance caught my attention at first, but I think exactly how the two women fell in love happened too quickly. It's not my style.
This is a sequel to Dance with Me and features Adley, who is the BFF of Scottie from Dance. When I read Dance I enjoyed Adley so much I wished she would get her own story, unfortunately I did not enjoy this as much as I had hoped.
This is a homage to You’ve Got Mail, so if you’ve seen that, you’ll know how this goes. The businesses here are ice cream parlours, Adley owns her own small parlour where she creates her own flavours, and Sabrina works for her parent’s chain of parlours and is about to open one in Adley’s town.
The two meet in a bar and jump into bed, and decide on a ‘with benefits’ arrangement that includes not talking about work, which isn’t vaguely realistic, but completely necessary just so there can be a reveal of this to create a quandary later.
The two do the with benefits thing for a few months and really start to like each other, and then the reveal happens, and there’s a lot of drama. I didn’t really buy it though because the two don’t know that much about each other, and weren’t even officially dating. Anyway, there’s a lot of angst, a big time jump and then an even bigger gesture to hand wave all of Adley’s pain and grief about her business away so we can get to the HEA. The best part about this section was Sprinkles, the puppy.
While I enjoyed both characters and thought they were cute together, I’d have preferred anything other than lovers to enemies to lovers for these two. Since it’s a sequel we get to catch up with Scottie and Marisa, and there’s a few other side characters in the family and friends of the MCs, with Teagen my favourite of those. It’s also set in the same universe as the swizzle stick stories, so some of those characters have brief cameos.
This is an ok read, but I thought the whole premise of the story was flawed, since I doubted a small city that size couldn’t handle two ice cream parlours, especially since Adley’s was more artisan, and already had its own clientele. The eventual solution was something Adley could have come up with herself, as an addition to her already successful business.
If you like hidden identity/enemies to lovers then you’ll probably like this, it’s not my favourite Beers, but it’s still an ok read. 3 stars.
I've read several Georgia Beers romances now and they are always sexy and fun.
This one takes a You've Got Mail type trope and mixes in some delicious ice cream to create a sweet but sexy sapphic story.
Adley owns a struggling ice cream shop which is in danger of going out of business when a chain comes to town. A chain with a sexy VP, Sabrina, that's caught her eye.
Ice cream, a cute puppy and a lovely inclusive small town come together to make this a warm and fun read that I recommend.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Peaches and Cream was archived before I got a chance to read it. Congrats on publishing and I look forward to reading it soon!
I realize I’m in the minority with this one; but I just did not love this. Others will probably enjoy this more than me, I’ve seen ratings that prove this. However, it had too many of my personal dislikes to get invested and enjoy this.
Adley (from Beers’ previous “Dance with Me”) and Sabrina meet in a bar, there’s immediate attraction. They decide to start a friends-with-benefits type of situation but it doesn’t turn out like they plan. They spend time basically dating and getting to know one another. They have one caveat that they won’t speak about work. Convenient as one owns a local ice cream shop and the other is bringing in an ice cream chain.
The first issue I had was the insta-lust. While the “dates” do an okay job of getting Adley and Sabrina to know one another, it’s more about the physical. There’s too little emotional connection.
They spend about a month being in lust and then there’s a big blow up once Adley finds out Sabrina’s business will likely put Adley’s ice cream shop out of business. They then spend the next year apart. There is mutual pining and tons of internal monologuing about the other, however, there is no connection between the two. It was difficult for me to believe the month they were together was enough to sustain a year apart. This leads to another pet peeve of mine. Most of what we know about the characters and them as a couple is from internal monologues or conversations with their best friends. There’s just not enough actual dialogue between the two.
Another big thing for me was the characters voices. They were all pretty much interchangeable for me, including Scottie and Teagan, the best friends. You could change up any character and the scene would have stayed basically the same.
There were a couple of other minor things that are really more about me than anything else. For example, the nicknames. Everyone, including side characters, have nicknames for everyone else. It annoyed me every time I saw it.
On the plus side I got a small glimpse into Scottie and Marisa’s relationship. I was happy to see they were still going strong and happy.
Like I said earlier, there are many others that enjoyed this far more than me. So, take this review with a grain of salt.

Lesbian cute and spicy. A nice spin on enemy to lovers with the business twist. Of your looking for a fun like read but with good character depth I would recommend
I found this to be a very predictable book but not in a bad way.
Adley owns an ice cream shop which she loves but she's concerned that she's going to be going out of business before too long.
Not helped by the fact that a national ice cream shop, Sweet Heaven is opening close by.
Thankfully, Adley has come to an "agreement" with a sexy blonde that she met in a bar and the two women are de-stressing with each other - no work talk allowed.
I don't believe that I've read anything else by this author but I would be interested in reading more.
Georgia Beers never disappoints! Peaches and Cream is a great little romcom that will have you craving ice cream. Would recommend if you are looking for a easy read with a happy ending.
It was great being back in Northwood after having followed Scottie on her journey in Dance with me. Adley was such a great character and it was fun to be with her on this journey.
Adley owns an ice cream Shop that she bought from her grandfather. She's loved making ice cream from scratch ever since she was a kid.
Sabrina has been working for her mother her whole adult life. They have different ice cream shops all over the place and she helps set them up in small cities.
Adley and Sabrina catch each others' eye in Martini's (this bar is featured in the Swizzle stick romance books, a local bar. Things get heated up pretty quickly but then they find out what the other one's job is which bursts their hot bubble.
This story will keep you on your toes as it switches directions quite a few times. The twists (hello Kirby Dupree) it throws at you are fun, sad, sexy and overall a great read.
An ARC was provided to me via Netgalley in return of an honest review.
Thank you to Netgalley for this ARC.
This was my first Georgia Beers (who seems to have a loyal following) book!
So I initially requested this because it was a lesbian romcom, however I was a little worried going in that it was going to be overly cheesy and lack depth... but boy was I wrong. Was it cheesy? Absolutely but Beers knew what she was doing, while cheesy I felt as though the characters had enough depth and the situation/conflict despite being obvious did have me quite intrigued. Plus who doesn't love ice cream and lesbians?
This was an enjoyable career-based enemies to lovers romp. While this was not life changing, I'm thrilled to have found an author to read on the in between while waiting for books to release or Libby holds to lift.
This book made my huuuungry for ice cream! For a subject so freezing, it really warmed my heart. The romance was adorable, I was filled with butterflies. I loved that we went from lovers to rivals and then back to lovers, a fun twist on my favourite enemies to lovers trope! I can definitely seeing myself picking up a paperback copy of this and reading it again!
Peaches and Cream came out in August and I couldn’t read it then and in retrospect I’m very happy I didn’t because I would have eaten way too much ice cream and been disappointed every time since the ice cream I have access to in real life is nowhere near as good as what I imagine Adley’s to be.
If you’ve read Dance With Me (my review), you probably remember Adley as Scottie’s always-in-a-rush ice cream making best friend. Adley took over her grandfather’s artisan ice cream shop but, despite being an ice cream genius, she’s struggling and the imminent opening of a national chain store close by won’t help. On one of the very rare occasions when she goes out for a drink with Scottie and Marisa, Adley meets Sabrina and a few minutes later, they’re making out in the bar’s restroom, the most out-of-character thing either’s ever done. Of course (because there would be no story otherwise), Sabrina turns out to be in town for the opening of the store that’s threatening Adley’s dream.
Even though Georgia Beers mentions the movie You’ve Got Mail in the acknowledgments, there’s none of the toxicity and no secrecy here, beyond two women needing a break from their jobs and deciding not to talk about work when they can kiss instead.
As usual with Georgia Beers, the characters are super sweet and you’ll want the best for them because how could you not. They’re as lovable as Sprinkles the puppy and who doesn’t love puppies? They also have fantastic chemistry (and admirable restraint, if you think about it), and Beers makes the instalust/instalove plausible, especially with the work conflict in the mix. Forbidden fruit and all.
There are a few inconsistencies and incongruities—an MC being surprised when she’s told she fell for the other even though she told her friend exactly that 30 pages before, a single mention of an immigrant parent with no bearing on the story—but overall, Peaches and Cream is one hundred percent the light and heartwarming read I was expecting it to be. Let it hug you while you escape reality for a bit.
"Peaches and Cream" by Georgia Beers will make you laugh, will make you cry, and will make you desperately want ALL the ice cream in the world. This delightful and heartwarming romance centers around the world of artisan ice cream maker Adley, and Sabrina, a businesswoman from a large ice cream chain.
Can profits, shareholders, and Sabrina's MOM get in the way of love? Well, you need to read the book, but I will say that I was super enthralled by the swirl of small-town dreams and the need to find your person.
The chemistry between Adley and Sabrina is palpable, and their attraction is strong from the beginning. While they initially opt for a casual relationship, their romance evolves sweetly throughout the book. I did cringe at the one mention of Hotlanta... note: No one actually from Atlanta calls it that. :grimacing: other than that, the conflict in the story is well-paced, and I found myself rooting for the due to overcome the challenges in their path.
The book offers a unique twist on the lovers-to-rivals-to-lovers trope, with a second-act reversal that feels organic and engaging. The emotional journey of the characters as they navigate their way back to each other adds depth to the story.
The addition of a puppy doesn't hurt either.
This book is sure to satisfy all of your cravings!
Just a super cute read. I could see this as a Hallmark movie. I loved that both main character were simple and to the point plus their meet cute in the bar warmed my heart. I would read more by this author.
Very fun and interesting, the characters get on your nerves while being loveable at the same time. I will be reading whatever this author comes up with, I ate this book up.
Adley Purcell, owner of an artisan ice cream shop, Get the scoop, meets Sabrina James, who is about to launch a new large chain ice cream store, Sweet Heaven, in the town Adley grew up in. When the ladies met, it was sparks flying all over the place. Not knowing what each other did for a living, they soon started their no strings attached relationship. Things were going well until they found out who each other was. They had some difficult obstacles to overcome with Adley’s ice cream shop being at risk of closing down and Sabrina only being in town temporarily. Could their instant attraction mean something deeper? Could their romance survive the fact that there is a clash in their business.
I really enjoyed this book. The attraction between the two main characters were palpable. There was a lot of longing and pining involved and you can really see the conflicted feelings that the main characters were having. The thing I did not like was the fact that Adley blamed Sabrina for her business failing. And I also thought the things sped up too quickly at the end.
But overall, a great book. Ice cream, puppies and great characters, it is hard to go wrong. Would recommend it if you are after a heartwarming read.
I received an ARC from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I lways look forward to reading new titles from Georgia Beers and this title, Peaches and Cream, was no exception. Fast, fun, easy read that made me want to try new ice creams. Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this title early.
I absolutely love anything by Georgia Beers and this one definitely didn’t disappoint me! The characters were so perfect and the dialogue between was on point! Loved the whole story. I look forward to the next one!
Georgia Beers expertly takes a somewhat overly cutesy story premise and makes it work so effectively that I all but ignored my responsibilities as a grown adult to finish this book in one sitting. Thoroughly enjoyed this experience.
Thank you to Bold Strokes Books for providing an eARC for a honest review.
A delicious romance with plenty of flavors to enjoy. The leads are fun and their chemistry is off the wall, so it’s not long before they get together.
I like that the overused 3rd act reversal is 2nd act here and neatly organic. How the girls can possibly find their way back to each other makes for an enjoyable read.
The lovers to rivals to lovers setup is a little different to normal—no bad thing. The “why can’t I get over her” and “what’s wrong with me” angst plays out through most of the pages, so you’ll need to enjoy sweet / low-level angst to really get into Georgia Beer’ tale here, but, hey, there’s ice cream (heaps and scoops) a cute puppy, and hot leads, in this pleasant and fun read that doesn’t demand too much of the reader but is satisfyingly sweet and luxuriant (like Adley’s ice cream ;) ).
Thank you to Bold Strokes Books and the author for providing me the opportunity me to read this ARC.
