I love books about unicorns, so when I saw the cover I had to read it. I loved the art style, and thought the plot was really interesting! I was a bit confused in the beginning when we'd switch POVs, but it made more sense by the end. I hope the characters also get more of an individual personality throughout the series, because they all seem a bit similar, aside from Rama. The part with the halflings was fun, and I thought the little romance was hilarious and cute. I want to continue the series to see what happens next, but I didn't love the story as much as I expected.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with an arc.
I absolutely loved the art style and that’s what initially drew me in. The story is very cute but superficial. I feel like we covered 3 comics worth of story in just one. I had loved to see a bit more of each of the heiresses journeys. The story seems to be very cute and has a very fairytale/Disney kind of vibe.

Themes: Friendship, finding one's voice and fulfillment of destiny
This is a beautifully illustrated story with a simple storyline that children and adults will find enjoyable. Fans of She-Ra, unicorns and Winx will love this novel.
Thank you net galley for providing me with an arc!
The unicorn legacy is a beautifully illustrated graphic novel perferct for younger ages! With a story easy and entertaining to follow for adults and kids alike this graphic novel would make a perfect gift for any young or older reader in search for a short and comfortable read.
The story is simple, sweet, and filled with friendship between different girls :) strongly recommend!

Very cute middle grade story.
I liked these fantasy heroines winx vibes and the set of characters seems interesting enough.
Wish we knew more of the main story but still a fun read to pass the time.
I can see this graphic novel appealing to a lot of people. There is action, unicorns, and Viking looking characters. It is a great and fast read that is colorful and is beautifully drawn.
🦄 A group of hero's come together each empowered with magic and a Unicorn companion. They must make a journey from their homelands ask for a wish granted on behalf of their people.
🦄 Filled with color and magic! Absolutely gorgeous illustrations and bright, beautiful colors that are eye-catching. It was the main appeal for me. The story within is just as bright and beautiful filled with a diverse cast of characters and plenty of humor. This book is a good story for young readers who enjoy "My Little Pony".
The Unicorn Legacy is a very cute graphic novel about Celeste, one of many heiresses, being sent on a quest to seek out the goddess Aurora for protection of her kingdom and a personal wish.
The art style and theme very much reminded me of She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, which I really liked. It is what initially drew me to this novel. The plot and writing is very simplistic (not a bad thing in this case!). The characters are a bit stereotypical - in design and characterization. I did love the magical transformations, though. I mean, who doesn't?
A fun and quick read that I would love to continue reading to see where the story goes!
This was a fun one, a great set up for a series.
The beginning was slightly all over the place because you just get thrown into the world without much explanation, and you move through different places in this world very quickly. You bounce around a bit.
But it all becomes clear fast enough.
It sort of gave me Sailor Moon or Winx vibes, and I mean, the nostalgia could not be ignored and played a part in my enjoyment of course.
Pleasantly surprised this was written by a fellow Belgian. This makes me so proud!
✨E-Arc provided via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review ✨ The Unicorn Legacy is a Middle Grade, Fantasy Graphic Novel. Right off the bat the art style is gorgeous, Verónica Álvarez did SUCH a good job, it feels like star vs the forces of evil if it were cuter, more stylised and soft. So far I find the world building to be well fleshed out and the characters layered with cultural differences. Overall a fab and fun reading experience.
Thank you Netgalley and Europe Comics for this ARC!
- I would’ve loved this as a kid! It’s definitely geared towards upper elementary, and it would go great in a classroom.
- It’s definitely the first of a series, so it’s a little slow to start. There’s a lot of world building between the different heiresses.
- I did like how they ended it. I think it did a great job of making you want to read the next one without having a huge cliff hanger.
- some of the dialogue felt a little odd, but I wonder if that’s the translation.
*3.5
The Unicorn Legacy is the first in a series of graphic novels that follow the heiresses of different kingdoms on their quest to the goddess. I absolutely loved the art style in this graphic novel. The art style is so beautiful and colourful, perfect for the target audience. The author had me at unicorns so I don’t have much to say on that. I love that the heiresses have their different characters and are not plain and boring.

What’s it about:
Every hundred years, the heiress’ of the lands flock to the temple of the goddess Aurora to ask for protection and make a wish! This is the start of a new adventure series that mainly follows Celeste, heiress of Lemuria, as she discovers her magical unicorn and the trouble that lurks on the journey.
What I liked and why you will too!
-The art style is BEAUTIFUL; I felt like I was transported into a Disney movie full of pastels and vibrant colors!
-Unicorns (I really don’t need to say more about that)
-Cast of Characters: I’m so excited to dive deeper into the world and learn more about all the cute heiresses we encounter. It’s giving us girl boss gang and I loved it!
As this series progresses, I feel like my feelings for it will too. This was clearly the start of a series and needed to set up characters and needed to establish the groundwork for what is going on in the world. It is a short graphic novel, that’s very fast-paced and I think the way that this volume ended will make the next one very exciting!
Thank you to Europe Comics, Netgalley, and the authors for giving me a copy in exchange for my honest review!
Very pretty and magical. Several girls go out on a quest to get a wish for their kingdom. It's very pretty, but that's the main attraction for me. The plot seems like a typical magical girl quest, but I'll read the next volume to see where it goes. A+ artwork.
The art is gourgeous. But some of the action feels a little dull. It didn't seem action at all. And the plot in general is very rushed. It has potential I hope it can be improved in the future.
The story definitely seems like it's leading up to be interesting and the artwork is adorable. All in all a fairly easy read for anyone interested in just a light entertainment or if they wanted to recommend something to younger friends/relatives.
This was adorable! I’m a huge fan of Kid Toussaint and this didn’t disappoint. I absolutely loved the themes and the real feminist feel to this. The illustration was gorgeous, and I can’t wait for the next instalment!!!
This is such a cute graphic novel. It follows the journey of 5 heiresses of different Kingdoms in this world, as they all trek to the temple of the Goddess to ask for blessing as a centennial ritual. Celeste believes she is going on this journey on her own, but then runs into other 'heiricorns' along the way. Each heiress is super different, coming from Kingdoms that function much differently than one another. This bit of world building is so cool.
Let's talk about the art. It just scratches my brain right. The color schemes are so youthful. The character designs and surrounding background look like something out of a Disney movie. It is honestly so comforting and reminds me of my childhood. The story reminds me of something I would see in the old Barbie movies.
I loved this book and I can't wait to see the next books in the series. I can't wait to discover more about the world, the heiresses and the Orkon witch leader.
10/10 recommend. 5 stars.
This series is off to a strong start. The art is gorgeous, the characters are memorable, and it's always fun to see groups of magical girls working together! This combines the best of the magical girl genre with the high fantasy genre.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for this eARC of 'The Unicorn Legacy 1: Call of the Goddess' by Kid Toussaint and Verónica Álvarez.
'Unicorn Legacy Volume 1' is the funnest graphic novel that I've read in a while. The art style is gorgeous and works perfectly with the storyline and I genuinely enjoyed myself and got a bit upset when I came to the end. Lucky for me, there's gonna be more volumes so I get to immerse myself in Celeste's story again one day.
